What the Doctor Ordered?

Happy days... today concludes my training for the Angry Doctor!

Now all there is to do is a few gentle laps of the pool during the week. And perhaps a gentle night ride on Wednesday. Maybe.

According to GC in the last 30 days I've managed:

Rides: 13
Total distance: 508km
Total climbed: 10,986m
Total time: 37h45m22s
Avg Speed: 13.5 km/h
Avg HR: 135 bpm
Energy: 27,809 calories

Interestingly a lot of this (228km, 4,651m) has been done in the last week. Yes, definitely time for a rest Sticking out tongue

Hopefully before this time next week we'll know if that was enough Eye-wink

Oaks up and back.

This was my very first oaks up and back. I recall a moment a few years ago of me telling my friend Megan Dimozantos that she was mad and id never do that in a million years. At the time i used to ride twice a year off road. it took that long to forget how hard it was.
And today was an absolutely brilliant ride. i loved every minute of it. and only just over an hour on the train from the city means I'll be doing that more often for sure.
Im feeling ready for the Angry Doctor. and the fling. and...?

Three Ring Circus

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Had a good day at the Three Ring Circus.
Lots of people there and made the first 10km like Parramatta Rd Morning Peak Hour.
Hard to get into a good rythm till everyone spread out a bit. I started way down in the pack so had to pass alot of people who "thought" they were fast and were up in the front groups.
Nice mix of firetrail and single track, although more single track would have been nice.
Felt fairly good and finished in a reasonable time. Did not eat anything and only had maybe 300-400ml of water, probably should of had more but i didnt feel that i needed it.

Three ring Fun

Was at the three ring today with my brother & his son we did the three ring as a team . Nephew went first on the blue then my brother on the red & last myself on the yellow . Was a great day had by all only a few dramas I heard about a few ppl got a ride in ambulances & a helicopter not long into the raceon the red leg , I think they forgot to use ther brakes, one person went over the bank on the roller section of the course.

Hillfest + 4 gates = Fun

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Slight change of plan for this ride. Instead of doing laps of 4 gates we decided to hit the Northern Beaches Hillfest circuit and put in a lap or two at the end if possible. I knew this would come in around 45Km and 1300 vertical plus a single 4 gates say, would be around 1700 vertical and 60km but it came up slightly less somehow - I blame Garmin Connect - it's vertical calcs are a little off and doesn't show altitude half the time Sad

New Commuter

My new commuter

Nice and cheap, made mostly of parts I had already. Not pretty but super simple and reliable (I hope).
Weighs 10.7KG which I am happy with considering the Talas forks.
Rides really well, very quick steering. Tt would be fun on a XC course actually, I must try it out sometime.
Currently running 44/18 but still working on the gearing, some of the hills around my home are killers.

I thought about giving it a paint job but I think I will just tape it all over with electrical tape for that rat look.

Well, you have to start somewhere, right? Eye-wink

Having taken the soft option things went pretty well on Saturday.

It's very nice to wake up at home, have a nice hearty breakfast then tootle over to the race circuit (albeit an hour-ish drive away).

Another good result for Mixed Nuts

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

The mixed nuts team of Gazza and Martine, Steve01 and myself decided some time back, to do the 12 hr, as kind of a warm up to the Scott24 later in the year. So after much preparation, we headed out to Yarramundee on Friday night to set up camp with Carl Groover & Gavin and Vanina. Groover had gone down to the track on Thursday night and marked out a good area for the NobMob crew, so we had a perfect trackside position to transition from, and watch the race go by. I set up my tarp & light set, and it was all very civilised!
