Trainning for the Mont

I have done a couple of Cross Country races over the years and I would consider myself to be reasonably fit at the moment. However I have felt fit going into a few races and then realised that maybe i don't have the staminar to go as hard as i planned.

Any how, I am keen to know what sort of trainning schedual some of you guys would apply 4 weeks before a race.

Don't you hate it when

Don't you hate it when you are all syked up (like rad to the power of sick) to go for a PB speed record on a particular hill (On tar... the shame, the shame!) and you get caught behind an L plater....

http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/7735310

91, is my best down that particular bit of tar with knobbie tyres and 25psi.... 73 on the dirt at the end of the ride.

Best on dirt was an 85 down Martins lane which scared the bejubus out of me...

So what do you hate?

Who's keen on some NZ MTB'ing?

With NZ air ticket prices coming down, maybe it's time for a NoBMoB excursion over the ditch?

Get inspired by this...:

Part of my DW100 training goal is to not only make quarry track my friend, but to make it my bitch!
Thats the attitude you need to take with that pig of a climb Eye-wink

Regular Downhill Weekend Shuttles?

My downhill bike is collecting too much dust!
Im looking for a group of 3 or 4+ people to do regular downhill runs with. Like weekly or fortnightly on a weekend at maybe Ourimbah or Oxford Falls.

I'm happy to hire a trailer / van / share petrol costs, etc.

Tyres for races & feedback

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I've read reviews of what others are running on Sydney trails, but do you mix it up for races and different conditions? Do you stick to the tyres that you're used to the "feel of"?

Anyone like to share the combination of tyres they're planning for the next event and why. Also later on how they performed.
Perhaps then we can all share from each others knowledge (especially from someone like Whisperer) and all can be well prepared for the conditions.

I'd love to run this as a poll but the combinations are too many.

Car-Free Suburb Planned for Melbourne, Australia

Yet more stuff happening in Vic that NSW should be doing?

Zone 9 is where the eco suburb might be.

Ah... doh! Sad

But it’s all pie in the sky just yet.

A new game - spot the MTBer scumming it, AKA The Undercover Riders

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Having recently begun commuting Nth Sydney to Nth Ryde I find myself a) bored brainless and b) amazed at how many cyclists there are on the cycleway.

In an effort to relieve the tedium of the 13k ride I have devised a game to amuse myself - spot the MTBer doing training/undercover as a scummer. There are a number of attributes you can look at that give clues as to the likelihood, all unreliable, but anyhow.

Charge Duster SS gear ratios

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Thanks to K-Rudd, I've finally been given the green light to get a new bike for my bumpy work commute. After much deliberation, I've decided to go with a Charge Duster SS: http://www.chargebikes.com/products/bikes/detail...

I would like a little bit of help please, to decide on what gear ratio to use so that I can get the right chainring sorted.

City Bike Depot (CBD) - Crap Customer Service!!

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I managed to break 2 spokes on my Scott Spark while riding into work this morning (no idea how??). I called CBD and spoke to one of the staff (female). I asked if I could bring the bike in and wait while they fixed it, and she said sure, just make sure to come in either before or way after the peak lunch period. I went straight up there and went to the girl I had spoken to. Without a greeting or smile, she told me to go up to the workshop, which I did. The guy who runs the workshop comes over (and without a greeting or smile) asks what is up.

SA to host mountain bike championships

Why can't the NSW Government get so excited about MTB? Or any type of riding for that matter?

Adelaide will host the Australian Mountain Bike Championships for the next three years.

Sports Minister Michael Wright said the five-day championships would be held at the Eagle Mountain Bike Park, a dedicated area for mountain biking.
