Bike Computer

Hello fellow bikers.

I'm seeking advice on which bike computer to buy. I want something reliable and not too expensive. (I've spent all night researching them and can't decide!)

I'd like it to have:
Wireless
Altimeter
Backlight

Any suggestions?

So far I've almost bought a:
Cateye CC HR200DW
TREK Incite ACH
VDO MC1+

but I can't decide! $200 is the absolute limit and I'd prefer to spend less.

NPWS - Draft Plan of Management for Glenrock

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Its been a long time since I posted here on the Glenrock POM (not sure I have), or really had anything to post. I do now so I have created this thread as a spot for people to ask questions about, or discuss news as it arrives.

The big news is that the Draft POM is being launched on Monday 16th Feb. I will be at the launch and speaking to the politicians on offer, but basically the chance is just about here for everyone to have their say.

Ed: Update 22-Feb: The plan is now out for comment. It can be downloaded here (this page also includes details of how to comment):

http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/parkmanagement...

I would encourage everyone to submit a comment. It doesn't have to be wordy, even something simple as, "Please adopt the network of MTB trails as I love the sport and this will encourage me to visit the park." will do (although please don't copy that word for word - they weed out duplicates).

Fox 32 Talas RLC - push or not push

I can't believe my Fox Talas fork is broken already Sad

My travel adjuster appears to be faulty, I'm not able to select 100mm any more. I doubt I will get it serviced before the race next weekend but that's another matter. As I need to get it repaired I'm thinking of getting them "pushed". It seems to make a lot of sense if I can make it more reliable. Has anyone any experience with this kind of mod?

Worth it?
How much?
Noticable performance difference?
Service time?
Who does it?

Cheers

Lisdale Successess

Lisdale V

While NoBMoB is all about social riding (as displayed by all the jolly fun on Saturday) there seems to be an ever increasing rogue element of really rather good (dare I even say, professional) riders in our midst.

Yesterday at Lisdale NoBMoB seemed to be involved in two first place positions and another two podiums. We even got a shout from the Aussie champ (pictured here on her way to winning Solo vets by a lap) as part of her acceptance speech. The very hastily put together (and named) team 'Beth Beth' (Erm... Beth accompanied by Junkie - yes, she did most laps!) stormed home in first place mixed pairs.

Other podiums were grabbed by three old buggers (Steve01, Dylan & Lord Carlgroover) second in threes masters as Alex, Supagav & Scott scored second in the threes mixed. Reckon that 'mixed' thing might be a misprint on the results? Eye-wink

Awesome work everyone. And all the social riders out there need not be scared - there are now so many of us buggers that someone has to come out smelling of roses sometimes! Laughing out loud

LOST: Sunglasses. Cascades/Quarry track. Sun 8/2/09

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi all,

I left my sunnies sitting on a rock next to the gate at the top of the Quarry track at Cascades on Sunday morning. The real tragedy was having to ride back up the hill a second time, only to discover they'd already left without me.

They're Bollés (not sure of the model - kind of Coachwhip-ish), with gun metal grey frames & lemon yellow lens.

My Favorite "How To Videos"

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I've searched the interwebs for the best "MTB How To" Videos and these are my pickings:

The 1st Bunny Hop one ("How to Bunny Hop Your MTB"), the Wheelie, and PumpTrack videos are very well made. I love the production of the 1st Bunny Hop one. The music is great, he deserves an armature producers award!

WTB - Dual Suspension MTB

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi,

Brand new to the Forums, essentially I am looking (and have been for a while) for a dual suspension MTB.

Ideally I am looking for a Specialized EPIC or Stumpjumper.

In terms of Sizing, Im 178cm so from what I can gather a Medium/Large would suit. (if you have any input I would love some advice).

I am looking to spend somewhere between 2 - 2500, depending on the year, model and condition. (I would be willing to spend a little more for the right bike).

If you have something like this or know someone who does please let me know.

PEDAL-POWERED ROLLERCOASTER - only in Japan

Good for hill climbing practice...but if you get too fast - will you fling off your passenger?

"Even though the Skycycle isn't as white-knuckled a ride as the others in the park, many visitors have expressed a deep fear of a particular stretch on the course that they call, "The turn of fear."

CRC Mass order

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi

I need to replace the drive train on my bike and am planning to order the parts from chainreaction (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/), a cheap parts shop in the UK that ships to Australia.

I have $301 worth of gear so far (which would cost me over $450 here) and would like to get to the required $565 order amount to get free postage.

DW100 - What is your weekly training schedule?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

With 3 months until I head off at 6.30 in the morning from StAlbans for my first ever 100km event, I was wondering what training others put themselves through to ensure they finish well in these events.

My week consists of;
-45km round trip commute to work 4 days a week. one of mornings consists of a 65km ride to work.
-2 hour MTB ride on Wednesday & Thursday after work
-4 Hour MTB ride Saturday morning.. ie. 6+ laps of the dam or smashing myself at cascades etc.
-2 hour social pace MTB ride or 50km Road ride (depending on mood & company)
-Swim 1.5km twice a week (as recovery)

Epping Rd bike lane warning

Just a heads up for people who maybe using the Epping Rd bike lane. The small manhole covers over electrical cabling have been removed by some fool between Pittwater Rd and Mowbray Rd. Could potentially be very ugly if you put a front wheel in one going down at speed.
