Down Hill in Thredbo over Easter weekend
I would love to go down to Thredbo for a longer weekend to do some DH fun everybody talks about.
It's gonna be my first time, so any comments are greatly appreciated. I ain't a lucky owner of a DH bike (not yet anyway), so I want to sort everything out at: http://www.thredbomountainbiketours.com.au/thred...
Of course, if you got your bike & gear, good for you, at least there will be more money left for evening drinks. I intend to take my XC bike anyway, just in case 3days in a row turn out to be too much for me. I can chicken out to do some easier biking in the area.
"Stan's No tubes" or "Joe's No flats" ?
I'm about to order a "Joe's No Flats" conversion kit from CRC. They don't stock Stans. Is there a major difference in performance? Both seem to be based on latex mixture - Joe's seems to contain more particulates to seal larger holes.
What is your experience?
These (very similar) videos seems pretty convincing...

Glenrock Volunteer Trailbuilding Training Saturday and Sunday, 21st and 22nd of Marc.
For all you Glenrock riders out there, you may have noticed a bit of official trail building going on from the guys at World Trail. For those that haven't, the DJ quarries are undergoing a transformation, the old DJ's on the cliff edge are gone and a new set away from the cliff are under construction (mud jump rework is next) and the BJ's Surprise/highroller/suessland area is also being tweaked.

Pedals
Hi All,
Can anybody recommend some good pedals that are clip-in on one side and flat platform the other? Just bought a new bike and don't want to scratch the frame like I did with my Trance when I fall off on the hard bits whilst clipped in!
I've just had a quick look at the Crank Brothers Candy and Smarty pedals on the web - are these flat on one side?
Cheers,
Andy.
Lake Taupo NZ Cycle Challenge
Anyone interested in forming a team to do the Lake Taupo Cycle challenge in November? The problem I am having is deciding which version to do.
Follow up on Illegal Riding
Following up from this:
I spent quiet some time at lunch talking to the ranger this came from.
Oaks Up and Back Twilight Ride
I was hoping someone may be interested in doing this on Saturday 21st - this would be the week before Seans birthday ride (my training ride for a training ride!)
I realise other people still have a life outside of bike riding but sadly mine is being turned around as the panic grows for this stupid 100...
Ayup bits purchase
Anyone need anything from AYUP?
Putting in an order today or tomorrow for some accessories and looking to economise on shipping

Upper North shore Jim's Mowing franchise for sale.
OK-so the link to Nobmob is a) I'm a MTB rider, b) my wife has just got a job in Canberra, the MTB capital of Australia, and strangely enough I want to be with her and c) you never know who is looking at the site and might be interested in my business.
Before I move I have to reluctantly sell my franchise so rather than put stuff up here that nobody might read or make sense of, if you have a few spare $xx,000, are maybe of thinking of a career change and are the least bit interested in finding out how good it is to own a (and in particular, my) Jim's Mowing franchise, give me a call.
rear vision
So whilst stuck at uni during the week with no real MTB trails other than the tired stair gaps to ride I've been doing fitness rides into the operahouse and back getting my kicks from the "New York Bike Courier" style of riding weaving in and out of the cars but I find it disconcerting looking over the rear shoulder when space in front is so scarce. Has anyone used one of these / has a better idea? Obviously there are the handlebar mounted but I guess with these you can just lift up your hand and swivel around quickly to pan as the area of the mirror is pretty small.

Although it's very clean. Wish there was a store like this in Sydney
Drivetrain WTF!
Yeah - good luck with figuring that out!

And here: http://bttdominhoaovouga.blogspot.com/ Spoilers in the comments - don't read this if you want to guess what it is
P.S. My guess is the hub has a sliding mechanism inside whereby it's driven by either the large cog or small cog, providing two speed shifting at the rear (and two at the front, for four speed overall).

Hi Everyone,
Is anyone keen on doing hazelbrook this sat? Im keen to do a few hours riding fast (for me) around the singletrack. I ahve been doing too much black stuff riding and need to remind myself what a singletrack is before the Mont.
Start ~ 9am at Hazelbrook, dont know if I have time to do the Oaks on the way back down

Dirtworks course ride
Well, I have never ridden any of the trails on or near the Dirtworks course.
I found a ride of Rob's from last year http://nobmob.com/node/4518 that looks like a very good training ride.
I would post a ride, but having never ridden there I can't really lead the ride if you know what I mean.
So, just seeing if anybody is intersted in heading out to Wiseman's in the next couple of weeks on a Saturday for a ride?
If we make it Saturday 21 March, I will post it up as 'Sean's big birthday ride'... No better way to bring in a birthday than with a bit of pain in the legs...
what hydrolic brakes to get?
howdy
im thinking i need to upgrade my brakes from standard cable to hydrolics
recently went to ourimbah for a ride, went down a small decline and ended up in the trees cause my brakes failed on me
ive taken it back to the shop, the guy reckons the pads have worn out.
either way, im thinking of doing a decent upgrade to my brakes and get hydrolics.
so the question is....
what should i get?
he showed me the juicy 5 brake system, but they add up to about 400$ for both, which is a bit much
are there any other options that are slightly cheaper?
WWS Round 3
Hey guys, was there any mention today a Yarramundi about where the next round is going to be?
Cheers

Excellent MTB Skills Clinic
I attended an excellent and well run MTB skills clinic at St Ives Showground yesterday run by Wannaride. Having only been riding for 8 months I thought it time to get some technical tutoring so I signed up for a beginners/intermediate course. I have to say, anyone starting out should seriously consider attending. A thoroughly enjoyable day. Heaps learnt. Instructors were great. Didn't talk down to you, very friendly and explained everything in plain English. They also run advanced clinics too. Just thought someone may be interested in developing their riding skills further.
Any team need a team member (for the Mont)?
If a team needs a team-member s(28 y.o) send me an sms... i'm training in NZ atm. Looking forward to riding as much as possible when I get back to Aus
