The Oaks - Please keep out during construction.
Please resist the urge for a sticky beak.
In regards to illegal access to the site while its closed - I'll try and get a bit more information out to see if we can reassure people a bit with the works we are undertaking. As well as the safety issues, it adds time onto the project works - they may have to redo works once half a dozen bikes have gone through the work site after they've left. As you know - we're working to very tight deadlines, and need all the time we can get. - Project Planning Officer, National Parks & Wildlife Service

Ebay cree lights
Hi there,
Considering some cheap ebay lights. Considering the three solarstorm ones.

Has anyone tried these and can compare them? Which one has the better beam spread? Any difference between the flat and round design? How do they feel when mounted on the helmet? Probably all three will be bright enough but want the one with a better spread of light.
Also saw this one for the helmet
Absa Cape Epic - Stage 1 Highlights
Don't forget to look out for SXC Racing. They were there in the first wave. Wayne wrote they averaged 40km/h for the first 20km. Ouch!
Fixing the bike's gearset
My road bike has reliably turned its cranks smoothly for over two years with nary a service or an issue.
However, now the time has come that it's becoming a bit clunky with the shifting and the chain is probably well past its replacement date, and two stacks have led to getting the wheels a bit out of alignment. I'm sure the brakes could do with some TLC as well...
Garmin heart rate monitor found at Awaba
Found Garmin heart rate monitor at Awaba on Sunday morning. Looks like it's been out over night. I have left it on the notification board at the trail head.

Perimeter Trail Update?
Does anyone have an update for the state of Perimeter trail near the golf course ie; have the hanging trees been cleared yet or is it still a no go area? Thanks
MTBA Junior National XC team 2014
Great to see some local riders in the MTBA Junior XC Team for 2014. Michael Potter made the National Team, and Sara Mills and Luke Brame made the Development Squad. Congrats!
rear shock advice
Hi. I am after some advice re: rear shocks. I have not owned a dual suspension bike before but I am currently looking around for something cheap (older in decent condition).
I will be riding mainly XC style with some easier AM thrown in. I dont like to hit the big downhill stuff.
Considering that I will be riding uphill trails a fair bit, is there anything in particular that I should be looking for in a rear shock? I am mainly worried about pedal bob and losing a lot of momentum when riding up hills.
2014 Mont 24hr - Rider wanted
We're trying to fill the last spot in our mixed 6 team for the Mont 24 on April 5/6.
We are a very relaxed, not overly competitive team. If you're interested in filling the spot, please let me know.
Entry fee is $180, which includes race entry, insurances and camping. We also have room in our convoy if you require a lift to Canberra (we are heading down on the Friday morning, and looking to come back Sunday evening or Monday, depending on how we feel)
Cheers

Fox CTD Fork
This is a question for anyone using a FOX CTD front fork.
It's got three modes, Climb, Trail, Decent. On mine I can't actually notice any difference between the T and D mode in the front fork. Is that how they are or might I have an issue with it? The C or lockout is fine but the T mode gives me full travel with the same resistance and feel as the D or full travel mode.
The rear suspension has a definite difference between T and D modes which makes me think the front should be the same.
Anyone with experience with these forks?
Lost Tissot Watch Manly Dam area

Capital Punishment
How did people go at the Punishment? I came in at 5:45 for the 100km which I'm pretty pleased with as I thought I was going to be around the 8 hour mark. The training tips from the forum clearly paid off!
Bar clamps for X7 shifters
Hi guys, I've just had my new XT brakes arrive today only to realise my current Magura Brakes have an integrated mount with the X7 shifters. Would anyone have a couple of clamps or know of a LBS that would have clamps for X7's so I can get out for a ride this weekend?
I'm in Hornsby.
