Anybody able to show me this track or provide me a starting point?

Happy to discuss over PM.

Heading out west

I'm heading out around Orange for two nights over easter, weather permitting with the bike.

The places to ride on the list, according to the trail DB, look like Back Yamma, Kinross and Lidsdale SFs. Rydal looks interesting as well.

Is there anything that I've missed and does anyone have any suggestions as to what is most worthwhile (in case I don't have time to go to them all?)

Tentative Pre Convict Training Rides

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

To complement my Convict 100 training consisting of intervals on the road and exercise bikes, hill reps and other unpleasant things, I‘m trying to get out on several long distance rides before the race, and would like to reward myself by going through some nice country and ride in new places.

2014 Absa Cape Epic Crash Pics

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I'm back in Australia now and recovering well. I had the dressing changed today and I got a good look of the damage that was done on the Stage 4 crash

I've also got my hands on the X-Rays taken and just how far the rock got embedded. They had to get an Orthopaedic Surgeon to remove it as they classed it having bone involvement and you'll see what they mean by that Eye-wink

The pictures are
- when the first help arrived
- in the medic tent at the race centre
- the rock they removed from my arm
- 1st X-ray of the rock embedded
- 2nd X-ray of the rock embedded

Light Bicycle Carbon Rims

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Hi All,

Have been looking around at some Chinese Carbon Rims for a couple of weeks now and am tempted in ordering a set or two and was hoping someone here has had some experience in these rims and the Novatec Hubs, either MTB or Road.

I'm looking at getting the 50mm clincher road wheel set
http://www.light-bicycle.com/carbon-mtb-650b-whe...

and also a set of 650B to convert my Ibis.

Any feedback would be great good or bad.

Cheers.

Absa Cape Epic - Stage 6 Highlights

Looked like a lot of fun on the last day Smiling

http://youtu.be/ozlGHSwNBy0

Local team SXC Racing's Wayne was riding solo after Brian's mishap earlier in the week. There's a load of guys in the same boat and he placed third in the Masters Individuals on this stage. And actually, same in overall GC in that category.

Top effort Wayne! Stay upright next year boys and you should be top 20 easy! Eye-wink

Seat posts

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Looking for a good quality carbon seat post as I want to up grade from my standard alloy one

Problem I have is quite often my seat will move from being flat to nose up after a hard ride no matter how tight I do the cap head bolts up that hold it

So thought I may as well go carbon when bying a new one the bike is a Scott scale it's my race bike

Kiwarrak to be bulldozed?

I heard some very disturbing news during the week... Kiwarrak is scheduled to be logged by Forestry in 2015.

Apparently they will "do what they can" to retain as much of the trail network as possible, but of course the awesomeness we know and love opposite the tip will never be the same.

Sounds like we need to organise a weekend away real soon. Sad

My chain sucks

I've recently changed the chain and cassette on my bike and I'm getting a lot of chain suck at the underside of the cranks just where the chain should part ways with the chainring and head to the back wheel. It's particularly bad when under load on the granny ring and was especially bad on lap 5 of a very muddy Awaba today. The new chain has a split link in it.

Just looking for thoughts from the group - would you suggest removing the split link or does it sound like new chainrings might be required?

Buying a new saddle

Looking to buy a new MTB saddle for the Reign this week. Previously been riding on Fizik Gobi's which I have been happy with, but there isn't enough clearance over drop post lever.

Hoping I can get good advice on a comfortable saddle. I don't ride more than 30kms and don't care about light weight. I know its personal but looking for input from those that know.

Anyone checked it out? If the race is on at Awaba Grock might be ok since we've had less rain?

Looked like a beautiful stage today. But... unfortunately not for Sydney locals SXC Racing Sad

If you've been following their progress, the guys have been riding strong in some hideous conditions. They were top 20 in category GC starting yesterday.

If you're following the local team of SXC Racing, on GC they are now 19th in cat. Out of 179 starters that's bloody good! Come on boys!

Awesome Warranty Service - BOA laces

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.
Below is a preview, click to read the full post

The BOA laces on my 2012 specialized mtb shoes were suffering from mud and a general poor cleaning regime. This meant that the laces were not holding ie. ratchet slippage.

So I got on the BOA website and placed an order for a replacement set, which was FREE including postage from the US to lil ol Perth as they warrant their product 100% for the life of the product to which their BOA laces are integrated.

Orange/Kinross this weekend?

Hello All,

I'll be in Orange this weekend and would love it if someone would like to show me around Kinross State Forest. I won't have a car but could ride out to the trail head and meet there.
