riding in wagga?
I might be going to wagga next week and i might be able to take my bike. Are there any trails in wagga worth riding?
Cheers,
Jono.

Interesting...and a clever idea with the looping function and cut off.
Map legend explanation please
Could somebody educate a newbie as to the meaning of the coloured dots (brown, yellow, etc) alongside the trails lists. Thanks, Peter.
Maverick Series Return
This weekend is the Capital Punishment (see events calendar), the race is the first round of the Maverick Marathon Series - which for many people adds a welcome 'unifying' set of series points to their season / year of racing.
There has been a bit of drama with rival series this year etc - so I wrote a brief article for The Roost magazine about the upcoming series and its strengths.
Hope you enjoy it:
glenrock family day and ambulance
Went for a ride at glenrock on Sunday , completely forgetting that it was an open day for the NPWS. Passed all sorts of people on all sorts of bikes wandering around glenrock generally. Anyway, at the bottom of the chute on Kenny's was a teenage boy been attended to by paramedics - who btw had with some skill got an ambo all the way down off scenic drive and within 30 metres of the injured rider.
Found: Saddle/frame bag at Wingello 8/3
As subject suggests.. Came across a lost saddle/frame bag at the start of the single track on the red loop about 11:30. Quite an old school one with lots of tools etc. Bloody heavy!
Respond/pm accordingly if you think it might be yours
Are there more local forums I could post this perhaps?
Everything was going fine until.......
I got back in the car after a couple of laps taking in Duck Hole/ Centre Trails, headed back to Long via Perimeter Trails then to the car. Thats when the games began.
Was feeling tired but overall quite good, sore legs etc but nothing to stressful. Jumped in the vehicle for the drive home.
Lost Multi Tool etc
Hey all,
Thought I'd put this up under the off chance anyone's seen it.

A little OMV flick featuring some native wild life and a funny little stack by a dude i caught up to.

Oaks sniggle repair work
Got this from another forum today:
'...NPWS .... advise that they will be carrying out upgrade works on the Oaks, and the first step will be the last two kms of singletrack, "where the route is poorly placed, and badly eroded". This section will be closed during the works, and we will need to divert to the road.
They are "about to start"..."
Not a ride
I was going to head out tomorrow morning about 7.30-8 to do some tracks around Terrey Hills - I'm not following a set plan so may have some stops and back ups and wrong ways. Starting at Mona Vale the Nursery opposite Cascades. Will be out for 3(ish) hours and tackling some technical track. Anyone keen PM me before 8 tonight.
Cascades Downhill Ouch!
Went for a quick and easy ride around Cascades. I often go out for a 35-40 minute 10k loop, and leave pump, phone at home. I thought my front tyre was a bit low, probably just under 20 psi (tubeless), it has a slow leak, and been a while since I topped with Stans, but thought I would take it easy.
Went in from Ralston, enjoying the scenery at slow pace, then stepped it up. Got past the sandy downhill corner into the steep drop into concrete/creek bend. I went a bit too close to the concrete edge and put on Front brakes and pulled bars left and the front end wiped out at speed.
Car Pool for Capital Punishment
Hi All, I am looking for a lift to Canberra next weekend. I am in Lidcombe.
Perimeter & Long Trails

Wireless Electronic Dropper Post
So Apparently KS are developing a Wireless Electric powered Dropper Post. http://www.pinkbike.com/news/ks-electronic-wirel...
Seems this is the way that things are heading, with more and more electrical gear being integrated into bikes. EI rear shock, Di2 shifters now being added, plus the dropper post. One day someone is going to get an electric shock from shorting out while doing a river crossing. Upside is though, you may be able to use it to restart someone's heart during a heart attack!!
Racing Ralph Evos / Arch Rims combo
Hey, anyone had experience running Racing Ralph Evo version tubeless on Stan's Arch 29er rims?
Not so worried about the front tire, more the rear picking up sidewall damage or rolling off... There's not much to those sidewalls! Would it be safer to opt for the snakeskin variety on the back?
Real World Cycling DU bearings
Has anybody used the DU bushing needle bearing replacements?
looking into spending a bit more for my next du bushing replacement
what shops in perth or online might have them in australia
Pre race fuelling
An interesting approach to pre race fuelling. It has the added benefit of maximising sleep time when you've got an early morning race start (like the up-coming Capital Punishment)
Bronsons rock
These are just pure dirt eating machines.....yes carbon is worth it and yes Santa Cruz bikes are worth every penny !
Luv this bike and the pike forks.....so smooth.
If you are thinking about getting one - just do it, you'll never look back.

Ultimate Taco?
This image has been going around a bit, but don't think anyone here has mentioned it.
Thought I'd share so we can discuss the possible causes and how to avoid such a situation yourself
Picking a stronger rim/spoke combo might help, or do you think rider error is completely to blame?
Thredbo Mtb Plan Under Threat?
Clearly people dont realise how low-impact a well built trail can be, and just to prove their point, they want to put in shared single track between walkers and riders... that will end well...
No more N+1
Over the last 2 years or so I have subscribed to the N+1 theory. I think there has been about 7 bikes in that period.
But I came to the realisation a few months ago that you really can only ride one bike at a time... I found that I was riding one bike most of the time and maybe one other occasionally... so the rest sat in the corner collecting dust.
So I thought long and hard about what riding I really do. I needed a race bike... a top notch race bike... so along came the s-works epic http://nobmob.com/node/44528
