The planets aligned and my dream bike is born
Liteville - German precision from the same guys as Syntace
160mm travel at 13.3kg's and not carbon and no weight weeny
Optimised for a 650b front and 26 rear (B-26)
Incredible ride
What happens at the pedals has no influence on the rear suspension and vice versa
Overgeared and clattery with 3 x 9 but need to let my wallet recover before updates
Such a nice change from previous bikes - I love it!
Matt Hunter Tours Mont Blanc
Now this is proper mountain biking! Beautiful little clip:
More on the route here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tour_du_Mont_Blanc
The stats on WikiPedia say 173.5 km 11,603m climbing, 11,895m descent. Ouch!
Note that some people run this in under 24 hours! Even 4 days on a bike sounds like bloody hard work. But look at the reward!
Mtb alice springs
Anybody done any riding in alice springs? I've got a day (maybe) spare and would like to check it out, problem one, won't have a bike, problem 2, it will be a Sunday and I'll leaving early morning on the Monday!
Look who's turning 30: a Bit of History
Hopefully Watto doesn't mind me reposting but when he linked me in on the book of faces and JohnH added a few of his own I realisied the 2014 marks the 30th year for the Central Tablelands Mountain bike club.
We formed way back in April 1984. I think it was us and Hunter become the first stand alone mountain bike clubs in the country, with a few road clubs such as Manly having an "off road" division.
any hoo a bit of local history, some old faces, most of who still ride with us from (not that far) back in the day.
Overseas helmets
We at at Mt Buller doing a National Round and yesterday in the cross country the officials checked my helmet twice for the Australian compliance sticker (in practice and on the finish line). So don't bring your overseas helmet! Downhill today so it will be interesting to see if they check there.
Training to live with pain
Have you ever noticed that since taking up riding, when you stub your toe, or bang your elbow... it really doesn't hurt as much as it used to? Are you so used to rocks smashing into your shins, skin being ripped off your arms and the burning in your legs that anything else seems passé?
Richie Porte supports Aussie MTB youth development
Nice article on Cycling Tips on Richie Porte putting a little something back into the sport - specifically MTB Youth Development pathways.

Not sure what level of support is being provided, but good to see something coming back.

Parking and Access to East Kowen?
Hi, very confused. Where does one park and access East Kowen? I have ridden The Mont 2012 and 2013, so I do have a fair understanding of the available trails, but the information on access and parking outside of events is somehow eluding me.
Could somebody please (please) point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Volker

Back ache from bike setup?
Ok so I have hurt my lower back twice before, not from riding but work and putting shoes on. I bought myself a giant anthem x2 for Xmas and it came from an xc racer so has a low stem. I have no problem with it when I'm riding I actually quite like the setup. But the next day my lower back is agony! I work in construction so I really need my back in good shape. I do core exercises, stretches etc. been to osteopaths and so on. It still hurts. I know it's not the seat height as I know how to set that up. Any ideas? Or some other exercises/stretches I can try?
Cheers
Jon

XC Riders (Orange-Dubbo)
Gday, I am just getting into XC MTB and looking to ride with anyone around Dubbo and Orange (I live nearly halfway in between). I have committed to the 2hr XC at Kinross and would like to do some training. My fitness is OK, no extreme skills but getting a few good rides in now, 20k to 60k on mostly open dirt road (pretty slow I think but fitness is improving). Can ride nearly anytime.
Cheers
Gus
Training - What It Takes
Hi all – well, I’ve been throwing around ideas on how to pull this together, and hopefully you will all appreciate the format.
There has been quite some interest in advice on training, coaching, sessions, making the most of the scarce time available for training.

Kids bike apparel
Does anyone know a place either in Sydney CBD or online that stocks kids bike clothes / accessories e.g. gloves etc. My nephew (5 years old) is getting into off road riding on his BMX mainly on pump tracks and would like to grab him something for his birthday.
Tried a bike shop in the city yesterday and they were pretty useless.

Moon Rock - Another Reminder
Moon Rock.....
OK, so this still continues, but hopefully for not much longer. Having just posted on the Strava rides, I'm posting here too as there were a few names that I recognised as being in here too.
There's not really any excuse these days to claim that you "didn't know it was closed", especially when I would guess that just about everyone here frequents Rotorburn, is in a FB group that has discussed it and has most likely been informed on the trail!
So, anyways (slightly edited for this page):

Dear Riders,
Altering someone else's trail
I never rant and I'll try not to here...
Please don't alter tracks to make them easier, if you can't ride something, keep practicing until you can.
It's dangerous and it's plain disrespectful to the person that built the trail.
Luckily I didn't crash tonight but someone had moved a rock at the bottom of a very steep roll off and i managed to spot it last second only because I had slowed down to show a mate the best way down.
Lost helmet, sunnies (Bobbin Head, Sydney)
Hi all,
Managed to leave my helmet and sunnies on the side of the road near the southern/eastern national park entrance gate to Bobbin Head. My hub packed it in on a road ride on Sunday morning and I needed a rescue from the team van (aka the missus in our subie).
The helmet is a white MET sine thesis, the sunnies are rudy project with reddish lenses and there was also a pair of specialized gloves too.
On the off-chance anyone from this site picked them up please let me know!
Katoomba singletrack?
I've heard people on here talk about the "Katoomba singletrack", but can't find any maps or reference to its location. I live in Marrickville, but have a project that might see me in Katoomba fairly regularly. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.
