Group Training
Stupid Hills!
Park opposite/beside Terrey Hills shops, corner Booralie Rd/Yulong Ave. Or in the small carpark next to the RFS station & community centre.
Stupid training session for the stupid hills at the stupid Angry Doctor
Will be doing this, with a diversion up Chiltern thrown in (thanks to Ditty for reminding me about that!):
Manly Dam - Later AM start
King Street (near corner with Arana Street), Manly Vale. You know - outside Manly Hydraulics Lab.
A couple of MD laps with some local hills thrown in for good measure...
Cascades - As many gates are you can manage
End of Wyatt Ave, Belrose - this is on the East side of Garigal National Park.
Come along and ride the 4 gates. And again... And again... And again...
Plan on doing this until my legs don't work any more, come along for a few gates, won't hold anyone to any particular number
Yellowmundee pre-race ride
There's a car park (click for foggy picture) on Springwood Road - just down the way from Hawkesbury Heights if you're looking for a suburb name.
In preparation for the 12 hour next weekend, I'm going out to yellowmundee to do a few laps to get re-familiarised with the circuit.
The general idea is to do a couple of laps at at a steady pace (like 70% of race pace), perhaps pause and look at lines and re-do a few corners / techie bits and get the general feel. It might involve a few spurts upping the pace now and again as we get into the flow, but generally steady.
Anti-social Night Ride
Park opposite/beside Terrey Hills shops, corner Booralie Rd/Yulong Ave. Or in the small carpark next to the RFS station & community centre.
As discussed... let's do this tomorrow (sorry, but can't make tonight now).
Plan is to ride the usual Duck Hole, Centre, Perimeter, Long route.
Won't be going crazy but don't intend on stopping as it will probably be a bit chilly. Should take somewhere between 2h15 and 2h30.
Tuesday Afternoon Training ride at Stromlo
Uriarra Road, just up from the Uriarra Road/Coppins Crossing Road turnoff.
This ride is for the lost or lonely to meet and greet the wonderful trails of Stromlo before the Scott 24 in October and all are welcome to join me , the lonely.....ha ha . There are six newly marked trails here so not sure of which ones i will do, but the plan would be to make the most of the afternoon and have a good look around here without the crowds that will arrive in October .
There is more than 24 hours notice given that its 3.10 now so make an effort , just a casual drive down the Hume Hwy and plenty of fun to be had here
Andos and Oaks
Glenbrook station carpark.
OK, after talking about it for ages, I'm not going to go all the way and all the way back again. I'll do one way this time and perhaps do the double next week.
Meeting at Glenbrook carpark at 10:00 to take the 10:23 train up to Wentworth falls. From there we ride along the road the do Andersons, then onto The Oaks to the end. Simple. If you are going to be late please ring my mobile (check my profile for the number).
Terrey Hills Bog Avoidance Ride
Park opposite/beside Terrey Hills shops, corner Booralie Rd/Yulong Ave. Or in the small carpark next to the RFS station & community centre.
Late notice ride at Terrey Hills this arvo.
Duck Hole, Center, Perimeter, Long. Hopefully it won't be too boggy!
Mountain Madness
Woodford train station car park
Mountain Madness is a long training ride on the tracks at Hazo/Lawson then down St Helenas including the lost world lookout and Bunyan lookout. The pace will be quick as I'm training for the 12 hour. St Helena's is fairly technical and flying down there this morning I had adrenaline flowing out both ears, if your fit, love fast rocky descents and heaps of single track this is for you.
Eye protection is highly recommended and long sleeves/arm warmers will stop a few scratches. It's rocky and fast so check your tyre pressure.
Last minute Monday morning ride
End of Wyatt Ave, Belrose - this is on the East side of Garigal National Park.
Last minute ride.. as it hasn't rained in a couple of days I'm up for checking out my usual "join the trails" ride.
It will go something like this: Start at the top of Heath Track, down to the bottom and up Cascades, turn around and back down. Up Quarry climb to ridge top, over to St. Ives single track, Sandy track over the creek and up the hill to Perimeter, Duck hole, down West Head road, Salvation loop then onto Towlers Bay, down to the bottom and back, Centre track back to Terry Hills, and back by along Forest Way to the start.
