Tubeless Conversion - How to ?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I am currently considering converting to tubeless tyres and after reading a lot of the posts here am still a bit confused on the "How to" piece and the choices out there.

Can anyone provide any advice / info on the following questions ?

I currently have Sun Ringle Equalizer 21 rims and a Maxis High Roller 2.35 / Larsen TT 26 x 2.00 tyres on a Commencal Meta 55.2:

1) What steps would I need to follow to convert to tubeless ? At the moment I'm assuming I'd buy something like the Stan's kit and follow the instructions ?

Scouting For suspension

After my hands and arms litterally being shaken to bits after the last ride ( i litterally had to squeeze for dear life on my handle bars so it would hurt as much ) I started scouting the web for a small air fork and found just the thing a brand new rock shox tora 100mm solo air fork. Not a bad price at $280.00 AUD at my door. checked the tube length and i think it will fit. I think ive got a 240mm now but can also get the fork with a 254mm

Is it worth the money, is the fork any good

Saddle Bags and Frame-Fit Bags

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I'm trying to locate a saddle bag or preferably a frame fit bag that won't rattle. I also need to have it within about 7 days. Can't find the thread that had the photos of those bags that fit in in the front triangle under the top tube. Where can you get those? Chain reaction seems to have the biggest range but not those ones that hang under.

I'm starting to think the Velcro attached saddle bags (that also attach to the seat post) will be much quieter (rattling) than the type that clip to the under side of the seat?

Where will all this stuff go (with no camel back):

Cracked frame Mark II

Just thought i'd post the photos of my Scott Nitrous 20 having cracked for the second time.

It cracked over a year ago and i got it welded back together but the crack recently opened up again after I started doing some serious DH on it.

The below photos show the front triangle only and the crack. The crack actually extended around the other side as well but was hairline thin.

omg another brake question

Yes, i am asking another brake question sorry! Sticking out tongue

The one piston in my rear brake caliper will not return, only when i take it apart and push the piston back in will it return :S

I bled the brakes last night (first time ever doing it, front took me about an hour and a lotta fluid, back took me 5min and much less fluid Sticking out tongue) and i got them bang on, still getting all the power not spongy levers or anything.

Thanks everyone!

Rush skips a gear

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Just talking about cables and stuff in the other thread, reminded me of a prob I have with my Rush. When ever I go off a gutter and pedaling, it seems to want to skip a gear.

A run down on the bike, it's only recently been built, It's got all new outer and inner cables, XTR shifters, XTR shadow long cage derailleur, XT cassette, XTR chain. Now, I'm pretty confident it's not a component problem as it was happening when I had m SLX shifters on there and the SLX rear derailleur on there. I thought that this problem was from them, so I went the upgrade.

Capital punishment for the bikes. How to fix mud induced mechanicals

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

After the epic ride in canberra over the weekend, thought today would be a great day to go for a quick spin as the sun was beaming. However as i was running over my bike everything was wrong with it!! Stiff cranks, hardly anything left on brake pads, stiff headset, stiff shifters. thats the stuff i notice straight away without riding the poor thing.

So a few questions;
Does stiff cranks mean i need a new BB
Does stiff shifters mean i have to replace the housing and cabling
And are there any other things i need to look over after long rides in muddy conditions?

Calling all 575 owners

My 575 is going on a year and a half and I'm considering rebuilding her. The master rebuild kit (bearings for all linkages) cost $$$$ from Yeti. Has anyone pulled their bearings and just cleaned and repacked them or do you always go with fresh new bearings? Or have you buy individual bearings from a bearings shop and replace as required?

Cheers
Phil

Need New Headset

Looking for a new headset, as my current one is buggered (especially after 53km of mud at CP)

My current headset is a FSA 'The Pig' - does not have sealed bearings - lame!

I have a 1 1/8" headset

What do you recommend? i've been looking at 2 on eBay
