Wednesday Night Ride - St Ives / Cascades

Below is a preview, click to read the full post
When:
Wednesday, 23 July, 2008 - 19:15
Ride Database Entry:
Cascades
Meeting Point:

Terrey Hills Tavern

Getting bored with the same old night ride, need something new, well try our new and improved night ride with added sniggle and two hills for the price of one.

This ride is not for those new to MTB'ing or the unfit as it has some technical aspects and a few hills that will max out your ticker.

• We will proceed from the Tavern to the trail entrance past Forest Way.
• We will then take the "Epithany" trail to St Ives Showground.
• Cross over Mona Vale Rd to the Quarry Trail.
• (New and improved) - at the bottom we will turn left and climb the Health Trail.

Ourimbah - Sat 26th

When:
Saturday, 26 July, 2008 - 09:00
Ride Database Entry:
Ourimbah State Forest

Greetings!!

Thank you to all those riders that participated in my little poll the other day. We have half of the respondents requesting an Ourimbah ride on Saturday 26th... so Ourimbah it is!! Laughing out loud

I intended to do a mix of XC and downhill riding - in no particular order. I will be testing out another new steed (well, an upgraded one at least) - so a track that has great technical riding is where I want to be.

Night Ride - Manly Dam plus extra's

When:
Wednesday, 16 July, 2008 - 19:27
Ride Database Entry:
Manly Dam

The 1st half of the Manly Dam loop then crossing over the Parkway and riding to Forestville. After this we following the pipeline until we rejoin the Manly Dam loop. 100% legal, but there is a little road riding involved.

A touch under 15k's but will take 2 hours at night and you will need good lights.

This is a technical ride and at night it will be more difficult, so it's not for the inexperienced.

Bring a beer for post ride hydration.

Terrey Hills sojourn

When:
Saturday, 12 July, 2008 - 08:30
Ride Database Entry:
Duck Hole/Terrey Hills Trail

How about a nice tour of Terrey Hills this Saturday? Looking to break in a new steed, so am wanting to keep things straightforward... for now. Laughing out loud

I planned on doing the whole Duck Holes / Centre Track thing. Although a more exciting alternative can be ridden if the group can come up with one.

I have put down 12 riders as a maximum, so if you want to come along, you may need to put your name down early. I will be wanting to keep up a decent speed, so I don't think the speed will be suitable for new riders.

Hopefully I will see you there.

Hornsby Heights/Galston Gorge training ride

When:
Saturday, 12 July, 2008 - 08:30
Meeting Point:

Corner Somerville Road & Leonora Close, Hornsby Heights (by the small reserve). NOTE: Once you're in Hornsby town centre you've still got another 10-12 minutes drive...

Somerville Road and Leonora Close, Hornsby Heights

My (now becoming) regular ride on the fire trails of Hornsby Heights & Galston Gorge (Quarry Road fire trail).

Looking to do this one sub 2.5 hours with minimal stops. Good 35k's of hilly firetrails (and boo hiss about 6 km of bitumen to finish)

Ourimbah State XC Laps

When:
Thursday, 10 July, 2008 - 12:00
Ride Database Entry:
Ourimbah State Forest

Planning to do 2-3 laps of the XC course and have fun. Whether this means stopping regularly and sessioning or going hard all the way, I'll be happy - I'll go at whatever pace everyone else is happy with. Keen to meet some new riders and ride the single track.

Brisbane Water NP - Staples Lookout

Below is a preview, click to read the full post
When:
Friday, 11 July, 2008 - 13:00
Ride Database Entry:
Brisbane Water National Park
Meeting Point:

Staples Lookout, Woy Woy Road. At the top of Kariong Hill, turn off the Central Coast Highway (formerly Pacific Highway) onto Woy Woy Road. Continue for about 5km until you come to Staples Lookout carpark on the LEFT. It is well sign posted with an information sign before the carpark: SCENIC LOOKOUT 300m. Park here.

Woy Woy Road, NSW

Great ride for Newbies (I'll be bringing a few novice riders from my soccer team) or anyone just wanting to get the legs moving. These are mostly fire-trails and access trails, with very little technical riding but challenging hills without being impossible. Much of the track has been graded recently so it is quite fast in sections. Very similar terrain to The Oaks. If you find it too easy, just ride faster!

Terrey Hills Social Ride (with a twist)

When:
Sunday, 20 July, 2008 - 09:30
Ride Database Entry:
Duck Hole/Terrey Hills Trail
Meeting Point:

Terrey Hills Shops - in the car park near the Bush Fire Brigade

I'm taking a mate who is fit but relatively new the MTB'ing for a ride.
We will be doing Duck Holes (via the sniggle) to Waratah to Centre Track. It will be a touch over 27k's, but choke full of hills.

Anybody and everybody is welcome, but if you are not reasonably fit you will struggle. As a social ride the pace will be moderate and we will be stopping to re-group frequently.

Thursday Night Ride - something different

Below is a preview, click to read the full post
When:
Thursday, 10 July, 2008 - 19:35
Ride Database Entry:
Terrey Hills / Duffys Forest
Meeting Point:

Terrey Hills Tavern (the usual place)

***** Wednesday's Night ride was cancelled due to the weather so whose up for the same ride on Thursday night - please either confirm or remove your star so I know who is coming ******

And now for something completely different.

Insteasd of the usual trails I'm suggesting we head off in the opposite direction and ride the sniggle running parallel to Mona Vale road to St Ives Showground and then pop over to Cascades to run down Quarry climb Lower Cambourne to Acron Oval re-entering the bush down the road to come out at Mona Vale rd to ride the sniggle back to the Tavern to rehydrate.
