New roadie test ride
Terry Hills shops
I have finally got a new roadie so will be getting out for a ride on Sunday arvo to test it out.....
Meet at Terry Hills shops and do a West Head Akuna bay loop (maybe even do two loops).
Berowra
Corner of Gully and Berowra Waters Road. There's a little playground there that has a tap to fill water up from and a car park behind the shops.
SEE YOU THERE!
NOTE THAT ON THE MAP IT SHOWS MEETING POINT TO BE AT END OF OVAL, WHILST ACTUAL POINT IS CORNER OF GULLY AND BEROWRA WATERS ROAD!
ALSO, IF YOU HAVEN'T ARRIVED BY 8:10 AND HAVEN'T CONTACTED ME (my number's in my profile), WE'LL ASSUME YOU'RE NOT COMING...
If you've been here before with me, you'll know what to expect. If you haven't here's a rough outline:
NSW State Champs XC and XCC
Southern Highlands, see website for details
the 2010 NSW state XC and XCC Champs will be held in the Southern Highlands.
Come along and test yourself on a great track and watch some of the pros smash it up.
Theses events are always great fun.
Otway Odyssey 2011
Race start at Apollo Bay VIC and finishing in Forrest.
Well V and I are heading off to race in the Otway Odyssey, we figured it was time to test ourselves on the "hardest 100km race" its got 3500m of climbing so they say, Im going to be taking the single speed just to make it that much harder.....
Any body else keen to come along?
In for the Fling Mega loop - Part 2
End of Ralston Ave.
Same sort of deal as last week, training ride to try and survive the Fling aiming for around 50-60kms.
Plan is Cascades, Wildflower, Ryland, Perimeter, Long, Duckholes and Chiltern.
From here we need to decide to either continue down to Narrabeen and Oxford Falls or turn around - time and legs dependant.
Wingello single track fling experience
4Km SW of Wingello village on Caoura Rd there's a small base camp within the forest - seems as good a place as any.
Last chance to ride the singletrack sections of the fling before the big day.
Aim is to complete some laps of the singletrack with minimal time on the fire trail.
All welcome, not just fling entrants. The tracks at Wingello are great and every rider should experience them. At least the first lap will be "no drop" and after that we will try and get some pace.
I will look to be at the old bike shoppe in Bundanoon at 08:00 for a coffeee and depart at 08:30, so anyone not familiar with the meeting point can meet there.
Super Slow Terrey Hills
Park opposite/beside Terrey Hills shops, corner Booralie Rd/Yulong Ave. Or in the small carpark next to the RFS station & community centre.
Late notice ride for tomorrow... I haven't ridden on the dirt for over 2 months so this is going to be slooooow.
Plan is just to trundle out to the end of the Long track and return. Depending on how that goes might also do duck hole + centre, but that is an optional extra only.
Hope this sun lasts, if it's raining I'll be at home on the trainer
In for the Fling Mega Loop
End of Ralston Ave, Belrose - this is on the East side of Garigal National Park.
Badly needed training for the Fling. This will be a mega-loop on the Northern Beaches, about 70km all up. Starting at Cascades, up to Wildflower Garden, across to Terrey Hills (L + P + DH + C), down Powderworks Road, along Slippery Dip Trail and Morgan Road through Oxford Falls, arrive back at Belrose. Home, beer, big steak dinner and then bed.
Main aim is to finish rather than flog myself. A decent pace but mainly try to stick to brief stops but this will all depend how the legs feel as have not done a ride this long.
Reverse Half Back in the Saddle (and Back)
Glenbrook National Park Car Park
Going to have a crack at oaks up and back from Glenbrook.
Anyone who is keen to come along is welcome- otherwise I'll go it alone.
Menai - regular Wednesday night ride
OPPOSITE THE ENTRANCE TO ANSTO ON THE NEW ILLAWARRA ROAD, LUCAS HEIGHTS.
Time to start dodging the spiders again at Menai on a regular basis now the weather is warming up. (I'm sure they've been effected by nuclear fallout from ANSTO, they seem twice as big as anywhere else)
For those that don't know Menai, there will be technical ups and downs, there are a number of rocky sections and new comers to night riding might find this a bit tough.
Hope to see a few of you there.
Chris
