3rd Rider wanted for 7hr at Glenrock
Hey all,
We're chasing a 3rd rider for the RockyTrail 7hr at Glenrock in a couple of weeks.
We'll be looking to go pretty quick and are looking for someone at a similar level, but also just there for fun and to have a good race. If you're keen to have a crack, let me know.
If we can't find anyone, we'll probably just stick with pairs and see how we go.

SRAM Singletrack Mind Series Round 1
Next to the tip entrance (grassed area) on The Bucketts Way (between Tinonee and Purfleet).
The SRAM Singletrack Mind Series features five mountain bike endurance events, of 7 or 8 hours duration. They will take you to five different locations in NSW, each one renowned for its flowing singletrack and fun factor.
The Series will kick off in fine style at a new venue for 2013, Kiwarrack State Forest in Taree! The Manning Great Lake Tip Riders MTB Club (crikey, that's a mouthful!) can't wait to welcome us to their highly-acclaimed singletrack on the weekend of 27 & 28 April. Get your leave pass booked pronto, this is a venue not to be missed!
Endurance Info
I am currently training for my first solo 8 hour in November. I've been searching the net for a few months now trying to get some 'tips' for endurance events, but I'm not finding a lot of info. A small 3-part series by Mark Fenner has been handy for training.
Anyone know of any good mtb specific websites or books? 'Ed Rides Bikes' is a great read, but not a whole lot of inside knowledge.

Just received this media release from some mates. Sounds fun!
Craving Capital Punishment?
5 January 2009
By now, all mountain bikers in the country would have heard of - or ridden for the lucky ones - Mt Stromlo, host of the 2008 UCI World Cup and the 2009 UCI World Championships! Chances are Majura Pines also rings a bell as the headquarters for the Mont 24Hour MTB event. Finally, Canberrean riders at least would know of these other local gems that are Sparrow Hill and Bruce Ridge...
Scott 24 hour Race
I am looking to join a three man team for the Scott 24 hour race at Stromlo on the 11th and 12th.
I'm an average mtbr and as part of a 3 man team came 9th at the recent Yellomunde 12 hour.
If there is anyone looking for a rider to join their team let me know.
I recently purchased a Specialized stumpjumper comp to replace my Avanti Montari.
Wow - tough ride
Not sure how to describe this event - a mixture of both pleasure and pain.
Long periods of extreme pain from unbelievable cramps. My muscles were spasming like there were aliens inside them moving around from about 25kms to the end. Getting off didn't help - the only thing to do was to keep moving and keep the legs spinning. I think maybe the three red wines the night before wasn't a good idea, but then again lots of others I spoke to were cramping.

It's up near Wisemans Ferry, although you would be driving up to Lower Portland via Windsor most likely. Looks like a nice training ride for 100K events.
Sydney Spring Fat Tyre Festival - 8 1/4 hrs of Power
Enter via Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. On your right will be 'TreeTops' for the kids and it's large-ish carpark. Carry on past there and the first small clearing which is were parking used to be, and is where the 'Browns' single track turns (you might see riders on your left here).
Parking and official trail head is now designated a further 350m or so up the road where a there is a larger area. There's a CCOMTB sign here by the trail entrance (on the left as you drive up). Park up nose to curb or as directed.
If you'd been at the Sydney 24hr in the last couple of years you may have seen a rather disreputable looking party in one corner of the camp site known affectionately as the 12 Hours of Power. I'd post photos but they probably need to go in the Over 18 section.
These very same people have put together this:
