Wheel turns in favour of downhill riders
Niiiice...
Councillors voted at last Tuesday’s meeting to accelerate work on formalisation of mountain bike tracks — one specifically for downhill — in Knapsack Reserve.
The riders successfully convinced the council to prepare an assessment of the site in four months rather than 12.
The $24,500 works are already budgeted for as part of the Knapsack Reserve plan of management and riders have agreed to provide volunteer labour where needed.

Not in NSW: New eco path opened
Well, of course it's not in NSW
OK, so this isn't the sort of path we want around these parts anyhow, but local authorities do sometimes build this sort of thing. However, NSW authorities are once again put to shame by their inter-state peers.
You see, this 17km project in outback Australia cost $330,000. While Warringah council have just engaged a local contractor to build 850m (yes, that's less than 1km) of trail, boardwalk and viewing platforms for the princely sum of $2,072,191 (with the opportunity for %15 rise if the contractor feels like it).

Awaba status?
Has anyone ridden Awaba in the last couple of days?
Heading up the Hunter for the weekend with the missus,
hoping to get in a few sneaky laps if its not too wet.

Pro Profiles
We were discussing profiles from professional riders over on the road site and someone noted that Jason English has posted a few of his rides recently:

Nice stats!

What's happening this week?
Well - it's that time of the year again when Aussie cyclists become slightly bleary eyed. Even the usually bike un-friendly Sydney media seem to be devoting some time to the event. Yes, I mean it's TdF time again. There's a tiny bit of chat over on the road site but things haven't really got going yet - some can't wait for this weekend's mountain sections. Ooops... enough of that though - for now
Last weekend turned out to be glorious, and hope everyone got back to enjoying what we love. There were certainly a lot of smiling faces on the Super Easy Terrey Hills ride and elsewhere. After one of these rides though, someone is considering Doing Duel (think he means 'Going') - and received plenty of advice on the subject. Some could do a lot worse than try the latest incarnation of the Lefty up front. Then, for those that have 'Done Dual' already, tips on keeping them discussed here.
Elsewhere in the region, that first Rocky Trail MTB GP took place at Awaba. There was also good news for this track as HMBA receives funding for toilets at Awaba. No more need to make like a bear
Not sure I should tempt fate by mentioning this weekend's riding. If the weather holds it will be Terrey Hills Train-ish-ing... if not... well - there's plenty of sleep to catch up on

Terrey Hills Train-ish-ing
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
Park opposite/beside Terrey Hills shops, corner Booralie Rd/Yulong Ave. Or in the small carpark next to the RFS station & community centre.
A faster version of last week's ride.
The plan will be DH+C+P+L in around 2 hours. With DH+C a second time if there are any takers.
Weather forecast at this point is for clearing showers but if there's anything more than a very light sprinkle going on in the morning I won't be there. Please check back here 8am Saturday morning just to be sure.

How's this weekend looking?
So... where to go on Saturday?
I'd like to say that something around the Wildflower Garden sections might be fun but things there can't have been that dry last weekend and we've had showers most of the week to compound any wetness. That stuff back of the gun club takes a long, long time to dry and can imagine it's a bog right now.
Anyone game for another 'super easy' Terrey Hills in the morning? Or a not so super easy one if you like (DH+C+P+L+DH+C)? Later start (9-9:30?) preferred.
