NoBMoB Response to Oxford Falls Regional Crown Reserve Plan of Management

Oxford Falls Plan of Management - NoBMoB Response (cover) As discussed in the forum (http://nobmob.com/node/8862) I was contacted by an environment consultancy asking for suggestions or recommendations for a proposed Oxford Falls Regional Crown Reserve POM.

Thankfully a few fellow NoBMoBers stepped up to help and put in plenty of effort and a couple of late nights too.

Attached is the result of our labours which I've just sent off in response:

Oxford Falls Plan of Management User Group Consultation - Northern Beaches Mountain Biking Group Response

Thanks for the help and let's hope something good comes from this. If nothing else at least we've now got a document that shows the massive demand and woeful provision for riding in the Northern Beaches.

AMBC/NoBMoB Skills Day

When:
Sunday, 14 June, 2009 - 08:30

The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.

Ride Database Entry:
Ourimbah State Forest
Meeting Point:

North End of Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. There's a large-ish parking area here, just off the main sealed road. There is also a smaller parking area a little further (400m or so from the road) where the trail splits - this second area is the usual meeting point. If you end up driving up a steep hill you've gone too far.

Show on Google maps: Meeting point. Login or register to get directions.

Reserve the date.

AMBC NoBMoB only skills day at Ourimbah.

Adrian Whittaker will be on hand with other trainers TBD depending on response. Susan Beck is available for chix if the ladies would prefer their own group.

See the thread linked above for details of cost.

Update: More space added Smiling

This is a commercial event that will have to be paid for in advance. Will be posting a link to that shortly.

Wanting to get back to some fun riding now that all the big races are over for a little while, the idea was to ride the DH tracks & ease back into some DH riding.

There are quite a few trails to choose from to cover a wide range of abilities although you will require reasonable bike skills. This ride is NOT for new riders!

If you feel like you need your armour bring it along & please know your own abilities.
Everyone rides at their own risk.

Hope to see some of you there Smiling

Boat 'n Bike - which track?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Boat 'n Bike - something different?

The idea: While we were sitting and admiring the glorious waterview from the end of Long Trail ...we came up with the idea of organising a Boat 'n bike trip over the next few weekends. This would make some use of the trailer boat rusting away in the driveway since the whole family got into cycling...

Anyone's thinking of putting in a CRC order soon? Need an extra $50 order to get yourself free shipping?

Just thought I'd ask.

Netti Factory Moving Sale

Netti has a moving sale on at the moment. I went Tues, prices I recall: jerseys and shorts $20, knicks (long & short) $30, helmets $50 etc, they had a heap of riding jackets/vests, bibs a few Scott shoes (mainly road but a cple of MTB), camelbak bottles, a few bags. if it is anything like their Syd to Gong sale they bring stock out everyday so not sure what else is on offer. Sale started Tuesday but is ongoing 14/5 3pm to 8pm, 15/5 3pm tp 7pm, 16/5 10-4pm. Unit 39 / 1A Coulson St, Erskineville (Alexandria). Apparently the sale opens to the general public 28 May - 27June. Can you write a brief history of riding on the northern beaches?

So... fancy yourself as a writer or historian??

For a report I'm writing need a paragraph or two (or as many as you can write really) on the history riding on the Northern Beaches. If no-one else can help will just make it up myself, but that would only be based on speculation and hear-say as I've only been here a few years Sad

So ideally would like to hear from someone who rode as a kid years ago, has grown up in the area and seen how changes have come about through that time.

Sorry, should have asked earlier as this is rather urgent and need something by tomorrow arvo at the latest (May 14!).

Please either email me your prose or comment with it here. Any old skool pictures you have will also help immensely. Already found flyers from MWMTB races in the 90s on their @rsebook site Eye-wink

Cheers!
