Kiwarrak State Forest update for 14 May

Status:
Green/Open

Green as it gets. Rode the Chocolate Foot course x 2 today, and it was groomed, bermed, flowy hardpack awesomeness. No leaf litter! Best fun I've had up here since ... since last time. Sticking out tongue

There's a 60km race on here next weekend called the Nat Pack... i might have to stick around

Glue that doesn't set anymore?

I had the nice experience yesterday at Yellowmundew to find out that glue to affix the patch on the tube… do sometime not set anymore!

Fixed my wheel once after a small puncture, then after 200m had to redo it again – and had confirmation after another 200m that the glue doesn't set. Thankfully I had another new tube with me and could enjoy the 3/4 of the trail.

Have to remember tonight to remove it from my backpack.

Btw, when you have a puncture on the inside, and there is nothing sharp on the rim… would that be because I had too much pressure?

Maintaining shifters

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi all. Was hoping some people would help me with a question...

Typically I maintain my bike by hosing it down with a fine, low-pressure mist spray from the garden hose followed by towel drying and then lubrication of all relevant parts. I am pretty thorough to make sure lube is applied anywhere and everywhere that needs it to prevent moisture hanging around and any corrosion. I do cleats, headset, rear mech, cables, chain of course, etc etc.

Withdrawn: My Yeti Big Top L frame for your XL

Note that this is "Withdrawn" so is here for archive purposes only.

A longshot but I have a minty L big top 29er frame that I'd like to trade for an XL.

Maybe someone out there is like me and is on the cusp of sizes and wants to try something different.

Stromlo Forest Park update for 13 May

Status:
Green/Open

Very dry and dusty on Saturday.
Some bits at the top of the climbs are closed permanently due to the asbestos contamination,
but there are 60km of singletracks so plenty of options still.

Garigal NP MTB Tracks

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi everybody.

Just wanted to alert fellow members I heard just now on ABC Radio, a caller named Rosemary talking up the terrible prospect of an MTB Track through Garigal NP. I remember reading posts about this woman's antics on this website a while ago. She was quite strong in her arguments to the announcer about the threat to Aboriginal carvings and to wildlife if night riding was to occur, and of the threat of degradation. Another caller followed up with comments about trail bikes and park degradation also.

Finally succumed and got me a big wheeler

Not sure if this is the right spot, but thought I'd post up my recent purchase. I've been building this for some time, finally got it out the other night for a proper ride. I freakin love it! I got it as an XC race bike, as I mainly do enduro type events and wanted a dually and a 29 that is race orientated but still fun to ride, particularly on the downs. This was the only logical option and boy am I glad I got it.
