Bantry Bay update for 12 May
Rode the fire trail from Forestville Park down to the water on the western shore. A few puddles on the flat sections but otherwise nice and dry.
Not a sound to be heard except for bird calls. Nice.

Brownie Points Burner XCM Taree
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
Clarendon Forest Retreat, Possum Brush Road, Taree. will host the event with onsite camping and accommodation options - www.cfr.com.au
Is 25mins drive from Forster and Old Bar for more family orientated accommodation.
In 2013, the Brownie Points Burner will be raced on Sunday the 25th of August. Yes we tried a 2 day event there previously and its bombed, but so do the trails. Evil climbs and epic descents plus the much mentioned Taree Tip Riders Trails.
We hope you've been saving your brownie points lately, because this is one marathon race you don't want to miss.

Mods to help with seat time
I'm after some advice on what mods i can do to my current ride to make it more suited for longer rides, doing more road rides with open flat fire trails..
Current bike is a Merida Matts lite XT
http://www.merida.com.au/2013-bikes/mtb-hardtail...
I have already bought some fast touring tyres & looking at a carbon flat bar option.
Does anyone have any other advice or help on what mods will help with long seat time?
Thanks

YRP is in great condition after track work carried out by 14 WSMTB members this morning (Sat 11 May). Edges are trimmed, and repairs done around Hidden Bridge. Should be great riding for our XC Round 3 on Sunday 19 May. All welcome!

Lane Cove National Park update for 11 May
Dry and fast this morning, be careful of the black snake sunning itself and watching MTBers ride past towards the day rd exit.

My 2011 Sworks Epic...should I convert it to 27.5
I am seriously thinking about converting my 2011 Sworks Epic to a 650b. Have found images of same bike with conversion done. Clearance seems ok on both front and back with ZTR Crests and RRs.
What are your guys thoughts on it. Can get Crests on Pushys at the moment for $329.
No other changes needed so can flick between 26" and 27.5".
[Mod. moved to MTB gear]

Opinions wanted. XT wheels or custom build?
I'm wanting to upgrade my wheels very shortly, definitely before the Husky next month anyway.
I've started looking at getting a custom wheels set made up but get lost with the vast amount of choice and variations of rim, hub and spoke. Is it worth the fuss or do I just get a set of XT wheels off the shelf?
My LBS will do the XT wheels for the same price as CRC but if I want custom built, they obviously have a build charge, where as CRC will build for nothing as long as all the parts are bought from them, but I don't know what parts to choose!!
