Durability Stan's Crest wheels
Still considering options for wheel upgrade. Was considering Stan's Crest or Arch Ex. I'm fairly light, 60 kg. how durable are the Crests for general trails, no huge jumps or drops eg. Lake parra, manly dam, OMV? Only ride once a week, about 15 km. Spoke to a well respected wheel builder who suggested because of my weight and type of riding I don't need anything too burly. Leaning towards the Crest for the lighter weight. So would the Crest be durable enough?

Kiwarrak State Forest update for 16 May
A little looser today after having dried out... Tuesdays ride had very light "spitting" drizzle like it was wanting to rain but couldn't.
Did three laps but had to pull the pin when the lower back blew up. That's the price of being lax with core strength maintenance... the couple of weeks extra break forced by stcking my handlebar end-on into my ribs on Anzac Day has extracted its price.
Great trails though.... i hope they leave the signs up, the loop they've put together leaves you with a grin thats hard to erase

Help for purchasing a new race MTB!
Hi guys,
At the realization that my three killer years of growth, development and learning on my Giant Anthem X3, have put the machine on its last wheels, it's time to return to the bike shops.
At the advice of many, and seeing the models of the winning cyclists at Convict recently (etc,) I think it's time to go for the 29er model.

Broken Edge 500
I acquired a Garmin Edge 500 to replace my bulky looking 705 and thought it would look quite racey to buy some of the Barfly mounts, the ones that place the unit in front of the stem rather than on top.
While it looks pretty slick and works well on the road bike, its not so practical on my Mtb.
I discovered this when I smacked into a tree at a race and broke the connecting tabs off the mounting plate on the underside of the unit.

Result of 2/3 of my brake lever "exploring" my inner thigh after stack at OMV
Finally uploaded from over a month ago after a stack at low speed around that sharp hairpin after steep roll-down at top of track (you know the one), and somehow managed to land on my brake lever (fun). Luckily it just bruised the inside of my leg rather than hit a tendon or artery. Quick visit to Hornsby Hospital, being first thing Saturday morning, before the sports injuries, but destroyed my entire intended training weekend
