CRC Mass order

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi

I need to replace the drive train on my bike and am planning to order the parts from chainreaction (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/), a cheap parts shop in the UK that ships to Australia.

I have $301 worth of gear so far (which would cost me over $450 here) and would like to get to the required $565 order amount to get free postage.

DW100 - What is your weekly training schedule?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

With 3 months until I head off at 6.30 in the morning from StAlbans for my first ever 100km event, I was wondering what training others put themselves through to ensure they finish well in these events.

My week consists of;
-45km round trip commute to work 4 days a week. one of mornings consists of a 65km ride to work.
-2 hour MTB ride on Wednesday & Thursday after work
-4 Hour MTB ride Saturday morning.. ie. 6+ laps of the dam or smashing myself at cascades etc.
-2 hour social pace MTB ride or 50km Road ride (depending on mood & company)
-Swim 1.5km twice a week (as recovery)

Epping Rd bike lane warning

Just a heads up for people who maybe using the Epping Rd bike lane. The small manhole covers over electrical cabling have been removed by some fool between Pittwater Rd and Mowbray Rd. Could potentially be very ugly if you put a front wheel in one going down at speed.

Anti-social ride at dusk

Date:
4 Feb 09

Just doing a bit of 'sprint' training to be honest. Started off trying to keep the HR around 150bpm, but as the legs warmed up realised could keep going at a higher rate than that, so threw that plan out of the window and just carried on at what felt like a comfortable pace.

Coming back let the HR creep up some more until finding the hills along Perimeter which are close enough to the end to just go 100%. Finished up pretty spent as a result.

Was trying a Perpetuem '1 hour bottle' which seemed pretty good.

Terrey Hills - Perimeter + Long Return

Ride Database Entry:
Terrey Hills / Duffys Forest
Exact Distance:
20.74Km

Start your clock when passing the gate at the end of Nerang Ave. Ride along Perimeter Track and take a right hand turn down Long Track. Go right to the end (to the lookout) and return the same way.

You must ride on the fire trail all the way out and back. No taking the sniggle and definitely no taking the road!

Watch out for other riders and horses along here as it's often very busy.
