Bike choice for Rydal?
Hi Team
I'm staying at Rydal next week and will be taking a bike but wanted to check on what's the best steed for the Rydal MTB trails. Ideally I'd take my crosser so I can do some exploring afar as well but not sure if it will be out of it's depth on the trails down there. How technical are the tracks there?
cheers

Lane Cove National Park update for 04 Jul
Rode through from De Burgh's Bridge via Yanco Rd fire trail, Gloucester Ave entrance through to the top of Devlins. Still a bit damp in the expected places - not going to change in a hurry this side of spring. Penno Park trail is fine, Terry's Creek tracks are also in good nick.
If anyone finds a pair of Shimano white-rimmed smoke tinted glasses on Terry's Creek track, let me know....

Rocky Trail Shimano MTB GP Round 3
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
Enter via Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. On your right will be 'TreeTops' for the kids and it's large-ish carpark. Carry on past there and the first small clearing which is were parking used to be, and is where the 'Browns' single track turns (you might see riders on your left here). Please do not park in this car park.
Parking and official trail head is now designated a further 350m or so up the road where there is a larger area. There's a CCOMTB notice board here by the trail entrance (on the left as you drive up the hill). Park up nose to curb or as directed.
Rocky Trail now rocking it's 10th season of MTB racing.

Manly Dam update for 02 Jul
Golf course singletrack is mostly dry but Allambie side is wet and the trail going into and also down from 19th Hole is wet and getting chopped up in places.
Good to see some.trail maintenance being done on the run down to the Nyrang Ave car park. Not sure how long it will last though - trail needs a reroute to be sustainable. Its currently a fall line trail.
Be on the alert for unleashed dogs near the Nyrang Ave carpark - I had a high speed head on collision with a juvenile red kelpie cross racing the wrong way up the track and the owner didn't seem to care. Managed to get enough brakes on to keep it upright when we hit but it still almost took the bars out of my hands.
I'm afraid I got a little potty-mouthed.
Had fun though. Good workout. I need to ride here more often.
