Parramatta Park

Hey Guys

Im out Castle Hill way on Saturday and I've been looking around for places to ride out there.

One of the guys at work recommended
Fred Caterson (aka FredCat) reserve

I notice here on Nobmob that Parramatta park has a good track however the guy at work thought that it was now only paved path. Can anyone confirm the MTB trails still exist, are open and worth the ride?

Cheers

Awaba State Forest update for 20 Jun

Status:
Green/Open

Good conditions today. The track has dried out nicely except for 8 or so bog holes that will take a while to dry up. (especially just around 'vege patch') I hope this sun stays around for a while!

Trail maintenance day on July 8. See HMBA page for details. 7.30am. Working on the Shute & placing some blocks in the Sallad bowl.

LCNP

Anybody ventured in over the last day or so? I imagine it's still pretty wet (water running over the road in various places on the tar bit between Ryde Rd and the weir on Sunday), but maybe I'm just being pessimistic??

Was at the Taree Tip Trails last week finalising course for Brownie Points Burner 2012 and rode the new Convict Trail with Bruce and Dave from the club. Its a Rotorua style classic. We shall be riding that trail and a bunch of other local trails in 2 days of MTB escape Sept 22.

'Knocking' noise - full suspension

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

My Scott Genuis has developed a knocking noise from the rear end. It only happens on the trails and seems worse when the suspension is in full travel mode (it's quite infrequent when the shock is locked out).

When the shock was serviced it had new bushes and bolts installed. I have also check the bottom bracket, greased the seatpost, checked the pedals, brake rotors, cassette etc. I cannot recreate the 'knock' by shaking the bike, lifting the rear end up (as you would expect with a shock mount problem).

Chain jumping

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Not sure if anyone else has this problem but when I go quickly down a rough downhill section of trail, I go to pedal at the bottom and the chain has jumped from the middle ring down to the granny and occasionally jumps off the front rings all together. This seems to happen about 50% of the time and is now getting quite irritating. Is there something I can do to stop the happening? The chain and cassette are slightly worn now but they have done this from new, I upgraded to a better chain than originally on the bike, to no avail.

Slippery when wet

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I thought about pulling the pin on this race because of the weather but glad I didn't.

I've done very little riding in the last 3 weeks due to either the weather or going away so I didn't hold out much hopes of a great result. I'm pretty happy to be in the top half of the table, especially as I've only ever ridden Awaba once before.
