The Oaks - video
I headed out to do The Oaks at the weekend on my Specialized Camber 29er. First time I'd done it and really enjoyed it - bike seemed very well suited to that sort of terrain. Looking forward to getting back there again to hit it with some more speed! I took some video too - my riding is nothing special but I thought it might pass the time for some of you on a Monday lunchtime!

Ouch, first 100KM
I'll keep this short(ish)
First 100km race to a bit apprehensive especially as my training hadn't gone to plan in the last month. Started in the 3rd wave as I was late to start due to not being able to find my sunnies (glad I didn't find them).

What a great Race!
What a great Race it was.
I enjoyed every moment of it.
Great country, great people, great sport.
Spoke with Ben (3rd Overall) after the race, who stayed with us at the same B&B, and we both agreed on that the best thing about Mountainbiking is the great and friendly community it comes with.
Thanks to all for another great MTB weekend!
Cheers, Dan

Convict 100
I was looking forward to this race. I did the 100k last year for the first time, so I knew the course.
Arrived at the event on Friday night 10 minutes before the rego closed, bumped into Dave from the Mont, before heading to the car for a sleep (or tried to sleep).

Convict 100
I was always looking forward to this race. The Dirtworks/Convict was my first enduro and is also is my favorite. And great to line up with lots of other keen mobbers....even when the form is getting pretty hot !

Never been so motionless in all my life or been so happy to get off the bike - not saying I regret doing it though!
Being my first race after leaving school, I figured (what was then) Dirtworks was a great one to start in because (a) I've always loved GNR, (b) It's relatively close, (c) It's well known and (d) because it's such a great challenge featuring all different type of terrain, from the feel of Tour de France at the beginning to a world champion MTB race in the overgrown part of GNR.
PREPARATION

Glad to finish
I was lucky to get to the camp site mid afternoon Friday to secure our usual camp spot and be able to chill out enjoying the blue sky while catching up with friends.

Convict 100 - Real Insurance XCM Round 3
3 Marathons in 3 weeks is what I was thinking in the week leading up to this race. I would have to say the body was beginning to feel the rigour from the previous 2 weeks. After a warm up ride on the Wednesday preceeding the race I was confident I was strong and ready for the weekend. I was also motivated from my results in the two first rounds.
Convict 100 - bring it on !

First Convict 50K
What a fast race!
Was not expecting to go as hard or fast as I did.
Did the race with a mate and I said to him at the 10k mark 'gee this is a fast pace'
His reply ' we are averaging 31k's................ thats faster then we do on our road bikes!'
great day as Arnie said I'll be back.

Short distance races for beginners?
Hello all,
Reading all the posts about the recent convict 100 has inspired me to give racing a go. Being relatively unfit I was wondering if there are any races for beginners around the 15km mark?
