Canyon Strive

Has anyone test ridden the Canyon Strive? I spent a couple of hours on one today at Stromlo and I'd be interested to hear what others think about it.

Winmalee update for 31 Jul

Area:
Winmalee
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

1 big tree down on Shaw's Ridge - there is a track forming around it and it's in a fairly easy to see spot.
2 Big tree's down through Bluegum Swamp - no way around, you need to climb over them. You also come up on them pretty quickly.
Bee's Nest is all good.
Springwood Ridge is all good.
Host of singletrack is all good.

Terrey Hills update for 31 Jul

Status:
Amber/Some Issues

This report is for the section of Perimeter, Cowan and Long trails that start from the Japanese School off Echunga Rd.

Some puddles and wet sections but otherwise firm and fast. The section from the RFS station behind the houses will likely be a bog, judging by the wet sections on Long Trail.

Unfortunately the pinch climb (aka "the wall") near the end of Long Trail is in poor condition, with an erosion gully advancing rapidly on the old disused riding line on the left. The channel cut into the uphill side of the water bar is itself eroded and unable to cope with heavy rains, dumping water onto this line instead off the side of the trail. As you can imagine, there's even more loose material being carried as a result into the bush on either side of trail at the bottom, and repair of the waterbar would I think be close to urgent from both RFS' and NPWS' perspectives.

On the upside, all the fallen trees in the Long Trail lookout area have been chainsawed into smaller pieces and stacked since my last ride here 3 weeks ago, so the turning circle is no longer obstructed.

Perimeter Cowan and Long Trails

Below is a preview, click to read the full post
When:
Sunday, 31 July, 2016 - 08:00

The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.

Ride Database Entry:
Terrey Hills / Duffys Forest
Meeting Point:

Park opposite/beside Terrey Hills shops, corner Booralie Rd/Yulong Ave. Or in the small carpark next to the RFS station & community centre.

Show on Google maps: Meeting point. Login or register to get directions.

Looking for a moderate intensity spin as I try to rebuild some base fitness after a busy period at work, and some ITB niggles that have been limiting my riding since late April.

I'll be riding out from my place near Frenchs Forest East around 0720, along Forest Way and then MV Road to the meeting point if anyone wants to join for some extra K's on the road.

The plan is meet at the RFS and head down Booralie Rd to enter via the Jap School at Echunga Rd to start with and if the trail is dry enough come back via Nerang Rd.

Manly Dam update for 29 Jul

Area:
Manly Dam
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Rode the Dam and Possums last night. Both should probably be closed in my opinion, but given we rode at night thing seem quite different. Council site says Dam is open but the 19th hole section through to Cootamundra is in bad shape. Needs another weekend to dry and then some repair work. the rest is ok but not great. Possums is a bog in a lot of places so we walked then bailed back to road
