Terrey Hills update for 31 Jul
This report is for the section of Perimeter, Cowan and Long trails that start from the Japanese School off Echunga Rd.
Some puddles and wet sections but otherwise firm and fast. The section from the RFS station behind the houses will likely be a bog, judging by the wet sections on Long Trail.
Unfortunately the pinch climb (aka "the wall") near the end of Long Trail is in poor condition, with an erosion gully advancing rapidly on the old disused riding line on the left. The channel cut into the uphill side of the water bar is itself eroded and unable to cope with heavy rains, dumping water onto this line instead off the side of the trail. As you can imagine, there's even more loose material being carried as a result into the bush on either side of trail at the bottom, and repair of the waterbar would I think be close to urgent from both RFS' and NPWS' perspectives.
On the upside, all the fallen trees in the Long Trail lookout area have been chainsawed into smaller pieces and stacked since my last ride here 3 weeks ago, so the turning circle is no longer obstructed.
Do you have more information?
If you've ridden here lately please add a more recent report. This will be useful even if the condition is the same as updates expire after 30 days.

... you didn't make it up the wall?
Agree, it sounds like he's building up to an excuse.
Just didn't have the legs yesterday, so it probably wouldn't have mattered how rough it was, or not.
Knees are improving, though. The Foam Roller From Hell is helping with the tight ITBs. Just need to be careful with the increase in workload instead of going like a bull at a gate.
No offence intended:)
... so you can modulate your efforts on the commuter and the trainer
Getting up is always a challenge - which we all accept
But lately it's going back down which is really sketchy. I've been riding it for years, but still can't find a good clean line.
@ Hawkeye, you should try going up on a single speed.... ;/
So much eyeball bounce on that drop...
To paraphrase Joey Dunlop, Isle of Man TT racing legend, I try to keep it on the brown blur.
Blur
None taken mate. You're all good. I enjoy your dry wit and banter.
Yeah, that descent is loose and rough rattles the eyeballs. And you can't go light over it because you need to be able to brake, otherwise the turn at the bottom in the deep sandpit will get you.
Jono flies down there. I have no idea how he makes the bottom turn because he's usually out of sight before I dare look up!
