Bike Hire

Best buddy from Sweden is coming over and I'm looking at options to rent a bike for him so I can show all the great tracks around around NSW. Problem is Swedes are tall but my man cave only stock small frame bikes so I'm looking at options to rent a bike for him for a week and a bit.

Any advise on businesses that rent reasonably decent MTBs will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Staffan

Manly Dam update for 13 Aug

Area:
Manly Dam
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Mostly pretty good condition, but a few boggy bits along Possums. I'd be happy to help if anyone wants to and knows how to do some maintenance on the trail, it certainly needs it. Ambos were attending to a rider on the downhill section, parallel to Southern Cross Way, and someone told me he injured his leg, not sure to what extent, hope he recovers ok.

Lane Cove National Park update for 13 Aug

Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Rode through from De Burgh's Bridge to the top of Devlins this morning. The sections up to Brown's Waterhole are wet in the sort of places you normally expect after rain (OK maybe not this long after rain). There is a big bog hole just after Browns Waterhole, where some new drainage work has been tried and pretty much failed. Devlin's from the Lane Cove River end to Whale Rock is a mess, with the pipeline workers still beavering away and chewing the track up. Upstream of Whale Rock it is still a bit wet in places. Some of the new drainage work done in the wake of the pipe work has helped, some of it hasn't.

Blackbutt Reserve - Killara update for 13 Aug

Status:
Green/Open

Look it's still a bit wet in places, but it's pretty robust fire trail, so I;m calling it green.

The Butcher of Babbage is back

A bit early but had a fly-by from our favourite bird today.
It was a bit half-hearted on his behalf and I saw the shadow coming so was waving my arms about like a freak.
Just a heads up peeps.

Reasonably priced prescription cycling glasses

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

The subject of riding glasses comes up from time to time and I thought I'd share this as I thought it might be useful to forum members.

If anyone is looking for affordable prescription glasses to suit road cycling or mountain biking, I've just completed a review of an Israeli product called Shamir Attitude that is available through your optometrist. Mine were supplied via Blink Optical at Warringah Mall.

Recommend bike repair workstand

Hi all, can anyone recommend a reasonably priced stand for doing basic at home repairs and services? Or what should I look for in a stand? Are there different ones for MTB and road bikes? I guess as long as the top tube or stem fit it should be fine right... Cheers for any info/recommendations!
