First Dirtworks 50km
Fantastic weekend with great company in a beautiful setting.
I'm pretty pleased with my finish time. Didn't do any training and modestly aimed for 4 hours, so was a little suprised with that time.
Loved the downhill section at the end - what a blast!
BIG thankyou to Christine for organising a roof over our heads, dinner and proper bathrooms. You're a star

fun fun fun
Probably the most relaxed 100km event I have done. I really enjoyed the ride I think mostly because I had no expectations other than to finish & under 7 hours if possible.
For the first time ever I didn't suffer from massive back pain which was great.
My only drama for the day was my rear brake completely failing in the first 10km, but it didn't really matter & made some of the descents a little more interesting.
All in all I was very happy & a little surprised to do a personal best of 6:16:09

first timer.
08:10:00 for first timer, really just glad that I made it
Pretty sure that I said G'day to a couple of the nobmob folk at the top of the first hill? I still cant actually believe that anyone could ride that hill!
I had no idea this would be so tough, having only been riding for about 6 months.. I was pretty sure at the 30K mark that I would be a DNF, legs just were just not strong enough as I had already started to try to walk out the sore legs on the bigger climbs from about the first water stop!

BoooOOOOooo
It was my second time in the Elite world (the fist time was JetBlack 101) and the start was really interesting.
I said to myself try to hold on for as long as you can ...
We were 4 women in the Elite group, when the race started the pace was actually not too bad at all (I was actually surprised!) There was some on/off pace (really fast and bit slower) typical road race thing to do ....I was behind Lee and Jason English (Who was chatting with another BMC rider).

DW'09 Moto Moto
Pleasure & pain in the great outdoors. Great fun, good company & saturday night's always a laugh.
Best part of the race - Balistic decent down Jacks track.
Worst part - there wasn't one.

First 50K
This was my first DW 50K, in fact my first time I've ever ridden 50K!
I had an awesome race. My goal was to get in under four hours, but I ended up doing 2:25:20! 29th in the Veteran class and 90th overall.
I was a bit dusty from a wedding the night before and I stupidly put my gels in my backpack - I didn't want to stop to get them out so I kept on pushing. Did the whole race on Gatorade alone.
I was shattered last night. Don't think I've ever been so exhausted.

One down...
First ever 100km event.
Had no expectation. Was hoping to get under 7hrs. Happy with smashing this into a respectable 06:35
Will add my race report later.

Smashed!!!
Well as im sitting at working typing this I am feeling a little used today.....
There had been a bit of banter about this race between a few of us and who was going to beat who and what times people expected....
Due to AR Junkie been sick i picked up his entry(cheers mate) just after the mont where he talked me up and said I was good for a 5hr race.

Too unfit for 100KM! Maybe the doctor...
Hauling my 6inch travel beast up the hills didn't seem like a good idea at the time, however the downhills were a blast. How the hell you guys are doing 100kms in those times I'll never know.

Dirtworks 09 - A personal best!
What an excellent weekend away. Christine organised the old church again for us to stay in, and have use of excellent facilities - a kitchen, toilets and real hot showers, well, until the water ran out after about the 12th shower after the race... Gaz was heard shouting from the shower stall for 'assistance' when he had lathered up and the water actually ran out. Given his previous reputation, it was a matter of drawing straws to see who would go in with a pressure washer to rinse him down.... anyway, onto the report...
