New Server Sponsor

Just a quick note to let everyone know that we've just moved server to a new site sponsor.

Please give a give round of applause to the very nice people at Demon-Host Smiling

As part of the migration I took the opportunity to update a few bits of the site software too. Everything looks to be running smoothly, but it may be that the software rodents have missed something. Please mention it ASAP if you see any problems or unusual behaviour.

Warners Bay - area map and track details

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

OK I created an area for that which appears in some menus. I put quite a bit of information about it and put a gps track in for the main fire trail, have a number of single tracks I can add to this pretty much straight away.

HOWEVER, the summary I entered doesn't appear on the page here:
http://glenrocktrailalliance.com/node/40094

And the track doesn't show either (sorry I have submitted a couple of times now).

Happy to flesh this out more and add some photos but not going to the trouble of doing any more if they aren't going to show up.

Advice please.

Red Hill for a noob - help wanted

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi guys, i'm new to the forums recently returned to the MTB world and just wanted some advice.

I live in Narrabeen and work in Frenchs Forest so have started riding to and from work - I don't feel comfortable riding on the wakehurst so i'm going via willandra road (gee thats a fun hill).

I'm keen to add some offroad to my home trip and Red Hill seemed like the perfect place for it. Having read the info on NOBMOB it sounds like its actually quite technical and difficult - so i'm a little hesitant to go it, particularly as i'll be hitting it solo.

Jesmond bushland - map and trails and photos

Hey guys, new here and new to mountain biking but just a heads up I ride through the Jesmond bushland a couple of times a week and noticed there were no maps or photos of the area so am putting together some photos and trail details for all. Work in progress, more photos and tracks to go yet but I have been learning it myself over the last few weeks as I find new ways through it on a commute from Lambton pool back to my place.

Browser Issues

Anyone having issues with accessing nobmob through different web browsers?

I used to use IE, but now I can only view the site. I get an error when I try and log on. After that I used Firefox, but now I can't even see the site. I receive an error straight away.

Now I have to use Chrome and it all works OK. Anyone having similar issues? Is there a fix?

Attacked on my Mountain Bike in the Snowy Mountains

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I was recently chatting to a friend about how we're lucky we don't have any animals that are likely to attack you whilst riding in Australia. Sure there are heaps of animals in our bush that scare the s*** out of you but they are always just trying to get away.

Well that all changed on Saturday ..

1 on 1 skills training

Hi guys

I have been riding for about a year and was thinking it might be a good idea to get some one on one coaching on my moutain biking to help build my skills and get rid of any bad habits I have picked up on the way.

Can anyone recommend a good trainer on the northern beaches

Cheers

Killingworth All Mountain/Easy Downhill track

I have just been for a ride at my local trails here in Killingworth. Whilst most people know about the great singletrack out here, I am not sure if many people know about the old downhill track and the tracks that shoot off it. I have been interested in linking together some of these trails to make a good All Mountain/Easy Downhill track, and today I think I might have been able to link together trails to make this track happen. I rode the trail today in its unloved form and it was great fun. I am planning to start doing some work to make the trail nicer, and put up some signage.

Six Foot Trail Ride - 26 Jan 2013 - Tentative ride plan

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Tentative ride plan.

I am very keen to ride the six foot trail this or another date. I have a large SUV with 4 bike rack, though need another car with large bike rack so we can have a car at each end of trail and ride mostly downhill one way from Mtb allowable end near Jenolan Caves as per map on this website.

If anyone keen and has car with large racks, please let me know.

It seems like it will be around a 12 hour big day to drive there, ride and return from Manly, but well worth it from what I can see to do at least once.

Is it possible to ride from Morgan Road all the way through to Wakehurst Parkway? Surely there mut be a way though.

MTB Masters of the 90s

If you can suspend irritation at the first cheesy 90's glam rock track, the silly traffic riding and spin class body gyrations at the start, there's some classy technical riding in this vid to keep you motivated while we wait for the fire bans to be lifted. Eye-wink

After getting hooked on big wheels but fancying a bit more spring than my current aluminum frame gives I've decided to take the plunge & go new old school. 853 steel with taper HT & the ability to run Gates belt drive (I also love the colour)

See you out there.

Trauma cover for us headbangers

Hi All, not wanting to be the harbinger of doom, but the reality is we participate in a high risk sport.

I'm trying to find out if anyone can recommend or has used a specific trauma cover for bikers during races or training, that cover the usual sort of potential damage like head trauma etc?

Thanks

FOUND: Mini Bike Pump

Found a mini pump up on the track behind Allambie Oval before Christmas. Sorry for the delay in posting, I went on holidays then forgot I had it.

Anyway, if you can describe it then it's yours.

Results for 2012 state XC series and champs

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

I can't find any results for the NSW xc series or champs other than a tweet during the race, I'd have thought this would be important information. It was certainly an important race for those involved and disappointing that NSWMTB doesn't even bother to post about it.

rotorua without shuttle bus access

just curious if anyone has been to rotorua outside of school holidays when the shuttle bus isnt running and can comment on how much climbing there was and if it was difficult to get to the start of the climbs where the shuttle drops off up the top.

thinking of going for a week in early march(only time i can get) but dont want to wreck my first experience there by spending all day riding the road uphill.

any thoughts or assistance would be very much appreciated
