Map error - Jesmond
I have steadily been uploading kml's for Jesmond to try and map the whole area along with a range of photos from around the tracks there.
I have noticed that when I click on the link to the Jesmond map it zooms to the whole world and you have to zoom in about 20 times to see it:

weather
Hay all,

Canyon bikes
Discovered in a magazine few month the 'boutique' brand Canyon > http://www.canyon.com/_en/
They seems to be pretty good bikes, well made, and even the cheapest model has decent gears.
Does anyone own one? or tested one?
Is there any shops in and around Sydney selling this brand?
Would be nice to test one before buying.
10 speed for an old bike
So I have an old hardtail that I converted to a single speed.
Now that I have excess gear from my main duallie MTB, I'd like transfer the drivetrain to the hardtail.
The issue that I have is that I keep finding that the gear jumps all over the place, even tried it with a new chain.
The same wheel/cassette combo will work fine with my other bike.
The old hardtail was originally an 8 speed bike. Are the rear-der mounts different in any way compared to a 10 speed bike ?
What could be the issue, I'd like to give it a go one more time before I give up and bring it to my LBS ??
Wheel issues...
Hi everyone
Really hoping someone can help me with this because I'm stuck, confused and frustrated
Riding Wave Rock
Found that video on one of my french sport news website (l'équipe, adrénaline): "Australian BMX rider Danny Campbell to conquer “Wave Rock” a 14 m (47 ft) high and 110 m (350 ft) long granite rock face shaped like an over-vert quarter pipe located in the Western Australia Outback."
Nice video, unique place to ride, sponsored by Mercedes-Benz Magazine and looks like he forgot to bring a helmet
LBS favourites
I'm keen to canvas some opinion on good local bike shops for service and repair. I always come away from mine with a niggling feeling that I'm paying above the odds for spares and service and maybe not getting best VFM.
Anyone got any recommendations on other places I could try? I'm fairly central to the CBD so can go north or south, although north towards Hornsby would be easier as it's on the way to work.

Why aren't my times improving?
I seem to have got to a stage were my times around local tracks have plateaued and it's starting to frustrate me. I wondered if anyone has any tips to help me.
I'm currently doing 1 or 2 interval sessions around Centennial park, consisting of 2:30 intense, 4:00 minimal, repeated 6 times. I also do at least one 50km road ride and if possible I'll do another 35km ride. On the weekends I'll go and do 20-30km on the dirt.
I don't really have much extra time to spend on the bike so I was hoping to train smarter, not longer.

Harrington Park trail
Anyone know who maintains the trail in the *edit: to remove location details* - I came across it a few weeks ago and really enjoy riding it. It is well maintained and I noticed a lot of work since the heavy rains recently (berms have been reprofiled, creek crossings have been corded). If I can find out who is looking after it I wouldn't mind giving a hand at times. Thanks Andrew.
Downhill in Canada - link fixed
We have heat, drought, flooding rain. They have ... snow, snow, and ... snow
My new race weapon
This bike has been a while in the (dream) making...
I realised that the 29er fad wasn't probably a fad... so I started looking for a carbon hardtail. And then I saw Brian's bike posted on this site and was immediately taken by what a superb looking machine that it was.
.... so when a frame came on Ebay at a bargain price.. I hit the buy button.
And then the frame sat there ... for a number of months. Slowly but surely the remainder came together... now 5 months later - here it is!
Thanks to Brian for the advice and Gazza for the bargain saddle.

G’day Mountain Bikers
Death of the Elixir 7's
Hi,
I had something of a branch/disc brake event whilst out on the bike the other day. The branch managed to wedge itself into the rotor, met the chainstay, bent the disc and then the bent disc has taken a chunk out of the caliper too. End result - one dead Elixir 7 caliper and rotor.
SO.....options are, replace with the same OR do I upgrade to something better? Have to admit that the longer I've had the Elixir's (they're a year old now), the more troublesome and noisy they're becomming.
Bike Lanes for a Healthier Sydney
What a surprise. Bikes lanes encourage cycling, reduces congestion on the roads and makes you healthier
Good to see a positive story about cycling in the smh
NoBMoBers ...eat schnitzels ...and some humble pie...!
Great turnout at last night's Social Night Ride...15 NobMobbers enjoyed the perfect trail conditions...
Our special guest Jamie on the MTB unicycle set a cracking pace on the trails - most of the time he was at the head of our peloton - incredible...
...and the real shock happened when he climbed the infamous Long Trail pinch climb without putting a foot down....
P.S. There were plenty of requests for more regular night rides ...so here is the next one - come along for the fun!

Tandem MTB
Hi All
Sorry about joining just to ask questions, but thats how you learn right!
I was put onto you guys as having a few Tandem bikes around the club...
The missus and I went for a ride on a tandem bike over the weekend and loved it (she is visually impared and has never rode a bike before)
We put about 100kms on the bike and did a bit of gravel and single track on the way, and really enjoyed that part!
We were on a Canondale with rigid forks and 26x2" road tyres and apart from still getting used to it, it seemed to go alright
Camping at Awaba ?
HI Guys
I was thinking of heading up to Awaba at the weekend with the kids. does anyone know if it's possible to camp there ?

Uffington State Forest
While looking at where was Medowie (http://nobmob.com/node/40441)
I've found a few rides in the Uffington State Forest, next to Clarence Town > http://goo.gl/maps/ekYDl
Does anyone know if it's good over there? More singletrails than firetrails?
Cannondale prophet rear shock adjustment
Hey guys just wondering if anyone knows anything about adjusting the rear shock on a prophet? I'm a big guy and almost bottom it out just sitting on it. Cheers
