Say G'day to your local shooter... :-(
This development gives me the creeps... "16,000 recreational amateur hunters are registered with the Game Council of NSW"
It's always interesting to meet some of those folks ...from the other side of the barrel....

Motos destroying jump tracks
Hi all,
Recently a notice was put up at the bottom of one of the jump tracks from Red Hill (see image).
Not sure how long it's been there but around december 2012 i took the other photos of one of three motos getting ready to set off from the Sports Centre. The other two riders were waiting at the bottom of said track where it comes out onto the Parkway but I couldn't get a photo of them.

XT disc brake setup
Just been fitting the new XT disc brakes I bought after much recommendation on here. Just a question for all you current XT owners - the Avid's that I've taken off had the contoured washers on the mounting posts to allow some lateral movement in the set up. Are these washers necessary/recommended for the XT's? I've put them on without them at the moment and they seem to be fine.
Tires out of round
With out sounding like a total newbie here, I'm hoping someone might be able to throw me a bone on a recent issue.
I have a giant 29er fitted with the standard schwalbe nobby nics that came with the bike.
Today I went to rotate the tires front to rear, and once inflated both are incredibly out of round, and seem off centre of the rim.
I deflated and re-inflated them and tried to manipulate the way they sit on the rims but without much luck.
I've changed tires a million times without issue, however this is the first time on the 29er.
Am I missing something?
how often do they race at ourimbah?
just wondering because when i get a new bike thats the first place i will race.
Medial / trauma travel insurance
Hey guys
Looking for some advice on medical / travel insurance for an upcoming multi stage race I have in South Africa. Any suggestions?

Seismic Overgrown?
I am relatively new to Glenrock and Mountain Biking, having only bought my bike a few weeks ago.
I have ridden (slowly!) some of the tracks at Glenrock.
One track that intrigued me was Seismic. I want to know whether the overgrown grass right beside the trail is an intended feature of this trail, or whether it has just gotten out of control?
Braided Brake lines
Just wondering where I can get a kit from for my XT brake set in Sydney , also who recomends someone to bleed them as a mate put a set of Hopes on his bike & they have alot of play in the lever b4 they bite ...

Making light of another's misfortune!!
Something from the lighter side of MTB: One of our cycling crew recently celebrated the big 50. We all met on Thursday evening, did an awesome early evening ride and then crashed the local Pizza Parlour in Terrey Hills. We sat outside the PP enjoyed sumptuous pizza (enough for an army and sssoooo tasty - and no I'm not a shareholder!)
Our 50 year old friend was telling us how he recently was riding up Heath Track at Cascades and how he did a new PB....largely due to the fact that a wasp stung him on his butt. Of course we all CRACKED up and thought it was quite hilarious....
MTB just got slagged off on the ABC!!
On the ABC's 7:30 program we were just lumped in with 4wd's & Moto's who are causing damage to land near Menai which the local Aboriginal land council wants to develop into 2000+ homes. An opponent of this said "you can see the damage that the 4wd's, Motorbikes & Mountain bikes are causing from coming in here".I just knew that this lady was going to mention MTB after those 2 that were mentioned.I will do some googling & see if the lady can be contacted & get an explanation or reason of her thoughts!!.
kona stinky 04-09

Best Sydney MTB trail for a 10 year old
Hey Guys,
First post so... hi.
Wondering which trails (other than the new MTB trails at Hornsby) you would recommend for a 10 year old to ride. Something that is not too technical. Hills are not too bad as he can walk his bike if needed.
Can be anywhere in the Sydney or Blue Mountains region.
Thanks in advance!
Perfect for the indoor trainer
I use my daughters music stand to hold a tablet in front of the bike when I'm on the trainer but this $20 Aldi special would be even better, specifically designed to hold an ipad in front of you to avoid chronic boredom
Biker dies on Hornsby mountain bike trail
http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/newslocal/the-h...
A BIKE rider, 50, died on the Hornsby mountain bike trail last Saturday.
Police said the Waitara man had previously experienced chest pains and was found collapsed on the southern section of the trail by two riders around 7pm.
They noticed minimal damage to his helmet and bike and performed CPR until ambulance paramedics arrived.
He was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Rechargeable Canisters
Just a thought I had the other day, but does anyone know of a rechargeable CO2 canister out there on the market? All the ones I've seen are single-use, throw away jobs.
I'm thinking it wouldn't be that hard to make something about the size of a 40g cartridge that can be re-charged (to say 100-150 PSI) by using a floor pump just using regular air. That way you don't have to keep buying cylinders (and adding them to landfill), and you'd always have a free source of compressed air for either home or track use.
Handlebars
Hi Everyone,
I'm looking to replace the handlebars on my Giant XTC hardtail. I've come up with the following options
FSA K-Force
Pro XCR
or
Truvativ Noir T40
I'm looking for a riser set not flat. Anyone had any experience with these bars? Or could anyone recommend a carbon set of bars under $150?
Cheers
Adam
Your best bike for Sydney
Hi guys. Two questions.
1) If you were going to ride one bike in the northern beaches/north shore area that is currently available, what would it be?
2) What do you currently ride, and what is your favourite place to ride it?
I'm in the market for a new mountain bike at the moment after being on road for too long. I'd like to see what people ride, and why they ride it, because its much more interesting than asking what you think I should ride
So, I broke my chain
Riding home on Tuesday (in a rush for dinner with the in-laws) I decided it would be a good idea to do a few quick shifts going up a very short ascent and managed to snap my chain.
Being quite new to the MTB world I thought i'd give it a go fixing the thing on the side of the road with my chainbreaker/pocket tool set on my own. I evenly stupidly declined assistance when a fellow pedaller asked if i was ok.. Thanks if that was you!
Hello
Just joined. Live in Turramurra, have dual suspension Trek, ride Sunday AM, about 20-30 Km, sometimes during week. Mostly the Lane Cove tracks, Manly Dam and Oxford Falls.
Most interested in other tracks we could ride, no more than I hours drive. Have one beginner in group, but he completed the Manly Dam circuit with only minor injuries and improves weekly.
Coffs Harbour tour guide
Hi there, I am heading up to Coffs for work next week and was going to throw the bike in. Just wondering if any of the locals would be able to show me around some XC trails on Tuesday from about 4:30pm onwards as I have never ridden there before. Can bring lights if required. I am no elite rider but would probably finish in the top half of my race category and up hills don't worry me......you have to go down them at some stage. Cheers
Access to LCNP via Vimiera Road
Hi, I heard that the access to LCNP via Vimeria Road under the M2 was closed at some time due to roadwork. Can anyone tell me if this is open ? I am planning to take my wife, daughter there for a cycle, how challenging are the trails there as I havent ridden there before.
Thanks
Doug
No XCM Series for 2013
Just in case you haven't heard. There will be no XCM series for 2013 which is really disappointing. There has been nothing posted on the cyclenation website but they did tweet it was on ice for 2013.
