Giant Trance X3 2009 - Suspension Pivot bearings.

My trance has been a little noisy and further investigation of the causes has narrowed it down to bearings in the main pivot.
Anyone got any ideas on replacing the bearings?
Bearings rolling very rough on one side, so I have tried to repack with grease and see if that is going to help. To be tested!
I would prefer to just replace them...but am not that mechanically minded, otherwise I take it down to the bike shop....

Cheers
Shano.

Bike carriers

Hi there,

I am looking at getting a bike carrier that fits on a towbar hitch. Was checking out the Thule vertex 4. Anyone used one of theses? My bike is a specialized fsr xc where the shock is vertical so should have no problem being placed on a bike rack. However in future if I upgrade to a bike where the shock is along the top tube how could I put this on a bike carrier?

Securing A bicycle...

Good evening everyone. I thought this would be a good topic to ask about due to all the unfortunate losses lately. Im curios as to see what methods people use to secure there pride and joy. I.e. locks, chains, wall brackets with dynabolts etc.. Just looking to find a method that will stop my bike from rolling away.

Thanks everyone...

Jono.

Winter riding top? Ground Effect Popsicle?

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

The missus is saying that she needs a long sleeve top that takes the bite out of the cold air for early morning rides. She already has arm warmers, booties, leg warmers and rain jacket but she wants a warmer long sleeve riding top.

Please note this is Perth, not Tasmania.

Anyone had any experience or recommendations with this sort of top? Ground Effect have an interesting top that she is eyeing off.

Draft Pittwater Open Space and Recreation Strategy

Just received the following message from Pittwater council:

Pittwater Council is preparing an Open Space and Recreation Strategy which may of interest to your club or association and members.

The strategy will help Council manage its reserves and parks in terms of conservation, leisure and sporting activities. An important part of the project is to understand how Pittwater residents use open space, what they value about it and what can be done to improve it. Council is inviting residents to complete a survey to help them with this process.

Pittwater is unique due to its range of landscape settings - from beaches, waterways, wetlands, escarpments to developed sports grounds and villages. As Pittwater's custodians, a key component of the project will be the protection and enhancement of the natural environment. We will also be looking at how to provide a diverse range of recreational opportunities for people of all ages and abilities appropriate to the natural environment.

With this in mind, the survey focuses on landscape settings. Please take time to consider the landscape settings and their importance, taking into account of your needs, as well as the needs of the community as a whole.

The survey can be accessed at: www.pittwater.nsw.gov.au/consultation

The closing date for the survey is 22 June 2012.

Once the surveys have been received and collated, Council will organise a community workshop to discuss the results and their influence on the planning process.

Residents completing the survey can enter a draw to win a dinner voucher for $150 at a restaurant of their choice.

Shipping a bike from Perth to the eastern states

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Hey guys, someone from over east is interested in buying a bike I've got advertised in the classifieds, but neither of us have experience of shipping a bike across the country.

Anyone done it? Any suggestions of companies to approach, and what the approximate cost would be?

Thanks.

Does anyone actually stock gear anymore?

Hey guys, I'm getting increasingly frustrated trying to find bike shops that actually stock a decent range of gear and spares (bloody internet).

At the moment I'm looking to buy some MTB shorts but I don't want to fork out $100+ without at least trying them on first, and to be fair dinkum I would like to be able to compare styles first as well.

Can anyone recommend a bike shop in Sydney that actually stocks a range of styles, brands and sizes of MTB Shorts?

Cheers

Aaron
