KHS XCT-536 FULL SUSPENSION

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

hi guys i was doing some internet browsing across the general mountain bike gear websites such as torpedo 7 and came across this bike, I'm not knowledge of the brand and build quality of the bikes, has anyone had any dealings with khs.

the bike wouldn't be used as a purpose trail bike but for $900 i would probably use it for the commute and the odd trail ride instead of using the trance, id much rather a khs be stolen.

any comments, opinions and advice would be greatly accepted

Chain jumping

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Not sure if anyone else has this problem but when I go quickly down a rough downhill section of trail, I go to pedal at the bottom and the chain has jumped from the middle ring down to the granny and occasionally jumps off the front rings all together. This seems to happen about 50% of the time and is now getting quite irritating. Is there something I can do to stop the happening? The chain and cassette are slightly worn now but they have done this from new, I upgraded to a better chain than originally on the bike, to no avail.

Sammy's new bike thread- Mountaincycle San An 2.0 and Zen II

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.
Below is a preview, click to read the full post

After a loooooooong wait, the first of my two new frames turned up this week and is mid build. Just need a front mech and a 38/26 chain ring combo for the front and we are all sweet to roll. Fortunately the trails are wet so I don't feel like I am missing anything on the riding front.

So here is new bike #1, the Mountaincycle San An 2.0. Most of the build came from the MC Battery donor bike. The frame has 6.5" of travel and is overkill for glenrock, but it should be a smooth ride.

Canberra this weekend

Heading to Canberra this weekend, looking for a bit of local knowledge as to which xc trails are riding well, and which are likely to shed the rain forecast for tomorrow the quickest.
Any advice gratefully received

The new 'Look' MTB Catalogue

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Just a random post I thought might be of interest to some...

I was out riding* today and came across these guys at two separate locations purely by chance. Took a few snaps very quickly as didn't want to annoy the pro. Although second time I spoke to them and turns out they were shooting for the new 'Look' MTB catalogue. The LBS here has a few of these bikes in store and they look uber-bling. Can't say I am a fan of the propriety stem mind Sad

Site is here in case you wonder what I'm talking about:

Garmin Edge 500 Firmware Update 3.0

I just come across the latest firmware update for the Edge 500. I have only just installed it and haven't tested as yet but they have added a couple more screens now which I think is pretty cool.

Geurie XC Time Trial

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hiya,

Dubbo MTB are hosting a MTB Time Trial on the yellow loop at Geurie, every rider has 3 non-consecutive laps to post their best time. Prizes and lucky door prizes so all welcome!
Riders will leave the start gate 30-60 seconds apart starting with the fastest seeded riders on the first llap, actual times on lap 1 will dictate start times for laps 2 & 3

Rego from 9, racing starting at 1030, there will be a BBQ operating, my backyard BMX/pump track will be open and other areas of the XC loops at geurie will be open for you to keep warm on.

Wet weather trails

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

As there seems to be a few trails currently going through planning with various councils and land owners, is there any chance of making one of them a wet weather trail? It gets very frustrating that there is no where to ride when the rain comes.

I've been on one in Christchurch and although it wasn't technical, it had a few humps and flowed well. The surface was a fine gravel that drained well and was hard packed so maintenance shouldn't be too high. Look up 'bottle lake forest' if you're interested.

Knee/Shin Guards for XC

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Due to failing healing and reaction times, I am seeking a little advice.

I (sadly) only ride XC now. Occasionally though, enthusiasm exceeds ability and I find myself nursing shredded shins/knees.

Aside from recommendations on learn-to-ride schools, could you please suggest suitable knee/shin guards. Priorities:
1 - Comfortable on longer XC rides
2 - Cool & Light
3 - Discreet (Not looking like I think I ride DH)

Tips (if acceptable by this site) on where to purchase (ideally online) would be great.

Cheers.
