Andersons/Oaks update?

Hey, I was wondering if anyone has an update on Andersons or the Oaks. I figure the singletrack will be too wet to ride, but more interested in how the creek and weir crossings are and if it's worth the drive up to the mountains tomorrow (15th)

Yellomundee conditions?

Hello,

Does anyone know how wet Yellomundee is right now and whether it is ridable this Saturday? Also, I have never ridden that track before - is it easy to navigate?

Cheers,
Zoltan

Seats: the good & the bad

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

I have decided to upgrade the OEM seat on my 2011 Trance - a Fizik Gobi - it just doesn't suit me (I wonder if these seats suit anyone?).

Previous experience suggests the Selle Italia range is good - I like the leather C2 on my road bike.

Any suggestions for a good mtb seat?

Mapping your ride....what does everyone use?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hoping to find out what devices/apps/programs etc etc people are using to map their mountain bike rides. So would like to know:

1. What are you using?
2. Why did you choose it?
3. Can it be easily loaded onto google to be shared?

I'm not too fussed on things like cadence, heartrates etc etc included into the program/app/device - am just after a good product that will map the trail i just rode and then be able to put it into google...

Not sure whether to go for an expensive device or run with a basic app from itunes?

Any help/advice is appreciated... Thanks

Help! I spotted an ad for a new mountain bike movie release in the Herald this week and then someone else at work pinched the paper! Can't find anything on the net and don't know the name of the movie. Anyone got any info please?

Fork & Shock Upgrade

Got a 2012 Giant Trance, pretty happy with it all round, but even with my 65Kg frame and limited skillz, I seem to be hammering the suspension despite running much higher pressures than i should for my weight. Also wouldn't mind some extra travel on the front.

So I'm considering upgrading both, I just need some advice/abuse on what will and won't work.

Forks:
Have:
Fox FLOAT 120 RL FIT Performance w/ 15QR axle and OverDrive 2 Steerer, 5”/120mm Travel, 1 1/4"-1 1/2"

Want:
Fox 34 TALAS 160 FIT CTD w/Trail Adjust. 120-160mm travel.

Hi All,

I've recently moved to Kincumber, and am interested in exploring the tracks on the mountain.

I plan to ride Saturday and/or Sunday mornings. If anyone wants to join up for a ride, let me know.

rail corp will be calling me at 5pm today

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

They said they want to talk about mountain biking.
I believe the call will be about the email I sent them in regards to the large volume of bikes traveling on the train to ride the oaks.

Are there any thoughts or inquiries you would like me to raise with rail corp?

Downhill clipped in or not?

Hey everyone. Just getting into mountain biking. The path I'm taking is mainly downhill stuff. My local is The Pines in Margs. Also I like the Pemberton downhill tracks. Lots of berms and fast flowing jumps. Currently I've got flat peddles and looking for some mountain biking shoes. I'm using cheap skate shoes at the moment but find they are getting trashed very quickly. Are most downhill riders riding clipless? Just need to know before I go out and buy some shoes. Had my eye on some Loius Garneau Tera Lites. Flat soles but able to use cleats if needed. Here is the link.

How much difference does bike weight make?

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

A question for the XC racers out there.

Riding on the typical Perth tracks that PMBC holds races on I currently ride a 26" dually that weighs 12.5kg. How much difference to my average speed would it make upgrading to a dually that weighs in under 10.5kg? Would changing to a 29er make more difference?

Thanks

XCM Rankings

So - with 4 races down (Wombat, Cap Pun, Convict and Husky) and 2 to go (Woolombi and Fling) the rankings are really starting to take shape and make interesting reading.

http://www.cyclenation.com.au/results/ranklist.a...

Remember - its your best 3 results that count, and also that there are 25% more points on offer at the Fling. Its going to get VERY tight.

BTW - how many nobmobbers are listed there in the top 20 on the first page? Great work - Dicko, PS, Brian, Tate and 'Anthem X1 Girl'.

Benefits of professional coaching?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi Team

There's been a bit of talk here recently about training and coaching which is timely for me given some of the thoughts kicking around in my vacant head. I thought I'd throw open a discussion about the benefits of 'real' coaching as compared to self coaching and at what point would it make sense to assist in achieving your goals.
