Rear d adjustment

I just replaced the cable for my rear d (XT shadow 9 spd) and am having trouble getting it to stay in gear in the middle. High and low screws are adjusted perfectly, changes are quick and sharp both up and down. The middle 3-4 gears jumping around all over the place. Any ideas?

Back to flats.

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I finally gave in & purchased some shimano shoes & pedals. I have been very happy with my flats for as long as I can remember, but I thought I'd experiment.

I have tried for about a month now, & my left knee does not like it at all. I've attempted to change cleat positioning, but no improvement. The biggest issue is unclipping. It twists my knee in just the wrong angle. Even on the loosest setting.

Sneaky practic runs on Pony Xpress

Anyone trying to sneak in practice runs next weekend please be aware Pony Club have a 2 day jump comp on.

As per the details here we're not suppose to ride the track while they have events on but they understand people are keen and they are pretty accommodating

So if we can just follow some basic rules and keep them happy it makes my life so much easier. They just ask riders to take helmets off and walk past the horse area (from where it opens out till past the bottom arena, it's about 200-300 meters)

Spare XTR brake bolt anyone?

Went for a ride today and lost the bolt that holds the brake pads and spring in place on the rear. Anyone out there got a spare lying around I can buy off you?

[Mod. moved to chat as is a request rather than discussion of an item. Really should be a wanted classified!]

Anyone had one, ridden one, got an opinion.
Seems like a lot for the money but don't know much about reliability, build quality etc.

NPA at it again

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

The National Parks Association is at again, promoting their special brand of misinformation - this time in Brisbane's Courier Mail.

These guys know no shame, it seems. I've sent a letter off to the Courier Mail in response, but I guess the points for us are:
- the battle will be ongoing with these guys
- expect it, and not be disheartened when they continue to trot out their irrational rubbish

Frame paint wearing off

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

The paint is wearing off my frame quite easily where it's in contact with cables – I can see the metal of the frame. I bought my GT Sensor '11 last year (11mths and 5 days on today).

It started at the back, where a cable is touching the frame (seat post) which is moving because of the rear suspension going up/down. Then it was at the front, because of the steering… and now it's everywhere a cable touch the frame.

How the hell do you break the bead on UST tyres?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

My trust Aredents have let me down. Some how i managed to stake a decent size hole in the centre of the rear tyre. Now these tyres have copped some abuse around, LCNP, Terrey Hills, Appin and Blue Mountains, over the last 2 years, never a problem. Hit singleton on the weekend, one of the smoothest tracks around. 5km in, there was a hiss and then a ferris wheel of stans fluid. Had a tube no problem, quick fix. NO. Do you think I could break the love a fair my Ardents and UST Fulcrum rims were having. No chance. Obviously this is why they are called Maxxis LUST.

As large as it's grown and as competitive as it gets at time the MTB community is still a cool little family to belong too.

A ride worth travelling for.

Hey everyone im getting sick of the same old here on the north and want to venture a bit wider and have a really good ride. I was thinking maybe ourimbah or somewhere with decent single track and maybe some light downhill...

Can anywhere be suggested?

Thanks all!

Spring must be close - first snake spotted

Arrived at Ourimbah at midday on Sat, settting up bike next to the car and noticed a small brown snake enjoying the sunshine in the grass about 2 metres away !

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Hi,
Ive recently moved to Perth from the UK and stupidly sold my Kona Kula Deluxe before I came, I am looking for a new XC under $800. I'm out of the loop on technical spec these days so am not sure what is a good price or what I should be able to get for this price. Any info is highly welcomed.

Cheers peeps.
