Have been given the timex cycle trainer 2.0 , was wondering if you can put it on a mountain bike or just a road bike . Before I get any smart arse replies , yes I am technologically challenged and never seen one before .
And how do you install ? Any help appreciated , manual does not help much .

Suunto Clinometer

Hi Guys,
After the awesome workshop & prac stuff done on the weekend, it occurred to me that it may be a good thing to get our hands on one or two Clinometers. They're usually pretty expensive, but given my field of work, I'm able to get much better pricing on a range of stuff.

Now obviously, I'm not going to be able to get one for everyone, but if we want to get a couple for the BMORC group, to be looked after by key personnel, them I'm happy to arrange it.

Kowan Forest trails

Hi, I was just wondering as I was heading down to Canberra next weekend if there was a way to get to the trail area featured in the Mont. As far as I am aware you are unable to reach the trail going through the paddock which was the Mont camping area. Thanks

Why is my bruising yellow?

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Folks,

After my late entry into the All-WA bonnet surfing competition - or as you might know it - being hit by sleep driving woman in a Toyota, resulted in me getting what they called a "Simple" Collar bone fracture, now, about 6 days later I have this pale yellow coloured "bruising" apperaring on the front of my shoulder.

Anyone able to tell me why is this colour - and why there was no normal bruising there before?

just curious.

2014 commonwealth games MTB course

Following discussions about the 2000 Olympic MTB track, I thought some of you might like this article about the 2014 commonwealth games course in Glasgow.

http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/home-news/201...

Looks like it will be a good track for the race but more importantly, it's clearly seen as a big draw card for MTB tourists as well as locals. Some very mature comments from the local council as well,as the news reporter.
The track is easy riding distance from where I was brought up in the East end of Glasgow .....

Fox Suspernsion Alloy Reducers for 2012 Anthem X 26"

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Recently I went to have my DU Bush & alloy Reducers replaced on My Anthem X

LBS was happy to do it for me. But didn't have the reducers. They said. "Shell be right" & fitted the originals.

Well... They have worn out again. I can feel the play in the suspension. So this time I'm doing it Myself. However I want to make sure I'm certain about the size of the alloy reducers.

Does anyone know what size they are ?
My Bike is a Anthem X1 26". My rear shock is a FoxFloat R

I think it would be this one here but I'm not 100% sure.

Shock pressure, Olympic Tech, Kulhavy a cyborg?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Is it normal to lose a lot more pressure , more quickly in yr rear shock compared to yr front?
Giant Reign 1 2012 - Rock Shox Monarch Rear, Revelation Front

2. A question for the gear heads. Were all the riders in Olympics MTB riding 29ers?

3. Is Kulhavy a cyborg? He appeared to be the only one on a dually and he ate other riders on the climbs. How about that last lap!!! I noticed in the WC too he was really tentative on the downhill, do you think he rides dually because DH is his weakness and he needs all the help he can get but compensates with extreme climbing ability?

My New Bike

I picked up my new Trance X1 29er yesterday. I haven't been for a decent ride yet. Hoping it's dry enough somewhere for a proper pedal tomorrow!

Upgraded 3x10 -> 1x10

After seeing the SRAM 1x11 setup, it really got me thinking... do i really need my 3x10 anymore?

As a 'zero' cost option, i decided to see if i could convert my XT 780 drivetrain to 1x10.

Step 1 was looking at gearing charts. The setup I chose (32x 11-36) would take away a lot of taller gearing i never used, but also some shorter gearing which i did use... but only because it was there.

Step 2: The conversion.
Im not going to provide a step-by-step guide as its fairly simple. The only parts you (and when i say you, i mean me) will need are:
-Single chainring bolts

Mount Annan for Kids?

Can someone tell me if the "Competent" trail at Mount Annan is ok for a 5yo who is confident on their bike (good on bmx and pump tracks) but is only on 16" wheels?

Also, is the pump track open? I can't find anything about it on the official website.

Good, reliable heart rate monitor

Hi all,

I am on the look out for a good reliable heart rate monitor. Can anyone recommend one? The one I have now (Sigma PC15) drops out all the time which gives me the shits. Maybe one around $150-$250 mark. I have had a look at the Polar ones but there are so many to choose from. I would like one with a stopwatch function but most of all one that doesn't drop out.

Thanks

Dual v Hard tail 29er

Thinking of moving to 29er and wanted peoples thoughts on dual v hard tail.
The most technical riding that I do is Manly Dam & Appin and want to understand if a hard tail would be too "firm" for the technical trials?
Other trails and events that I ride are cascades, st ives, terry hills, dirtworks, fling, doctor

We have also attended a few Council meetings where there was unanimous support from all Councillors for dirt jumps.

Two of their staff including the head MD ranger just attended the 4 day IMBA Masterclass in Hornsby where the got hands on experience on the new track under construction.

Anyone got/ridden one of these? La Pierre Zesty 314

Seen one for a bit above what I have to spend but wonder if it'd be worth the extra. I'm very much an XC rider and this looks the part.
Any opinions welcome.

SRAM XX1 (1x11)

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.
Below is a preview, click to read the full post

When I got into real CC/AM MTB about a 18 months, I needed every gear on my 3x9 (on the short end anyway). Then my dual suspension came with 3x10, and as my fitness has improved i've found I really don't need the small chainring, and doing research for next years build, I decided on XTR 2x10. Now I see SRAM have a 1x11, with a massive range of cogs, and im thinking it may be the way to go.

Below is a table that may help:

Current (Giant Trance)
24x32x42 x 11-36
Lowest ratio: 1.29m
Highest ratio: 7.41m
(M travel / pedal revolution)

SRAM XX1
32 x 10-42
