29er hardtail vs 26er Full suspension
Hi guys
No doubt ill be needing to buy a new bike soon and im looking at getting a HT 29er. I currently own a 26 FS and im just wondering if there are any advantages/disadvantages to a HT 29er as opposed to a 26 FS
Any feedback would be wonderful
N+1...new roadie...with a motor!
This is my new (roadie) ride for when the trails are too wet.
A new roadie... with a 500 cc thumper!
A Royal Enfield Bullet - it's the bike they forgot to stop making....it has now been in continuous production since 1948.
I had some great times when I used to ride one through India back in the olden backpacker days...sweet memories!
Now this beauty came up on Fleabay. It is the modern, updated, low maintenance version, with EFI and disc brakes. Only one year old and you get all this engine engineering, tons of chrome and steel for less $$ than a Carbon 29'er....
About time
I've worked behind the scenes getting this trail approved since late 2007 and sat back and watch the boys build like champions so it was about time I have my first ride down it.
I'd ridden and early version of the top section, mucked around on the bottom section and pushed a wheel barrow full of tools up and down it more than once but I hadn't had a good solid blast on the DH bike or ridden the steep stuff in the middle at all so it was all very fun.
Olympic MTB times and coverage
Anyone not living under a rock will know that thing in London is starting soon. However did you know the men and women's MTB events won't happen till the last 2 days. So we have to face countless days of running, jumping and gay wrestling* before we get to the fun stuff.

I'm going to take a punt and say these will not be televised by any of the local networks. The BBC however are streaming every single event live on the iPlayer - if you know how to get it.
Enjoy!
* I've heard Gazza is looking forward to this
Carry bag for bike.... on plane
Looking to buy a case so my bike can fly....higher.
Any thoughts anyone would care to share on features, brands, with or with out wheels, etc would be deeply appreciated.
I have confused my self into a corner.
Thanks in advance
Suggestions on a cheap SS road/cross with drop bars and mech discs
I am in need of a new commuter. I am thinking a road/cross geometry frame and fork, with drop bars, mechanical discs, threaded bottom bracket and single speed.
Id rather not, but chain a tensioner may be acceptable if it doesnt have horizontal drop outs.
Any suggestions?
Cheers!

Is it dry anywhere around Sydney this am?
Hello,
I was hoping to go for a ride today and tomorrow somewhere around Sydney (Ourimbah, Yellomundee, Mt Annan or Appin), but it is raining of course in Sydney... By looking at the BOM Radar screen the rain seems to be affecting Sydney and north of Sydney areas only - can someone please confirm if one of the tracks above is likely to have stayed dry?
Cheers,
Zoltan
Royal National Park
Hi
I am just wondering if there is a Legal way to ride a Mountain Bike between Audley Weir and the Visitor Center on Farnell Ave avoiding Audley road which is narrow and dangerous for a bike.
On Google Maps you can clearly see some large sections of Fire trail through the bush however the National Parks does not have this marked on their legal bike trails.
I would be nice to be able to ride Lady Carrington as part of a loop from Waterfall to Audley - Loftus - Heathcote and back to waterfall.
Thanks
Dungog Trails

an education on selecting handlebar height
hi all,
just wondering if any clued-up geometry-savy rider out there might be able to give me a brief education on selecting correct handle bar height for my riding style or posture? what determines? You see, I have always had my stem atop 2 spacers on my 2008 giant reign. wondering what would happen if i moved the stem down? don't know what the governing theory is though. anybody care to have a stab? cheers, mark

Discovered this awesome hidden gem, a good alternative from Mt Annan which is not far. Check on Trailfix for further details: http://www.trailflix.com.au/tfx_new/trails.php?i...
Thanks to the 3 guys that picked me up on the trail and showed around (if you read it this; re the big crash, on Monday only, signs of a concussion came up… not massive said the doctor – but quite annoying).

Seeking Team for Scott 24 2012
Gentlemen,
Unfortunately the team I have been riding with, is unable to compete at this years Scott 24.
I'm looking to join another team.
The team I'd like to join will be focused, comitted & loyal to each member.
the team will preferably be in the 40+ but I'm open to realisatic suggestions.
I'm not in the elite catergory.
I'm not there to be part of a social team. Sure I'm socialble type but my focus is on riding to my best ability. Supporting other team members as best I can so they can achieve thier best as well.
Blue Mountain DH tracks Shuttles?
Hey guys
New to the forum. My friend and I are heading to the blue mountains from Adelaide, for some riding between 23rd and 26th of July and we are staying in Mount Victoria.
While I love both XC and DH, my friend is a DH man only and we have a shuttle driver .
So if anyone can give me any info on where to start and where to get picked up for the best DH trails the Blue Mountains and Western Sydney have to offer it would be greatly appreciated. We are competent on DH terrain.
If anyone wants to join us you are welcome.
Any info from locals would be greatly appreciated
n +1 help
The time has come for me to upgrade my 26" HT after a year of great service. It's given me the MTB bug and taken all the stacks and abuse I can throw at it. I'm probably going to retire it to a road training bike now to keep the k's down on the new bike.
My budget is around $2k so I'm looking at another hard tail. I've not ridden a 29er yet but I think that's the direction I'm going to go, I felt out of place on a 26" bike at Awaba last week!
The 2 bike I'm looking at are:-
Giant XtC 29er 0

Fork upgrade
Hey all,
I own a 2010 Jamis Trail X3 with factory fitted RSL Gila T9 forks.
I've noticed that they have started to leak oil, and constantly bottom out/top out when riding. I'm keen to replace these with something a little better.
Any recommendations? I manly ride single track/fire trail, but also ride to work at the weekends (6km ride each way up/down hills on paved road)
Cheers
help with wider handlebar choices
Hi,
as the title suggests i need to figure out if i need wider handlebars (i want them but thats not enough)
I have a 2011 XXL stumpjumper with 690 wide handlebars, however i have noticed that while i am traveling at speed (especially downhill technical sections) my hands tend to move further outwards on the bars to the point where i am holding them with only half of my palm.
also as the ride progresses i tend to find myself moving my hands further out.
just to give you an idea, i am 6'7" about 300lbs and have very wide shoulders (i don't have a measurement currently)
Fork upgrade
I've got a 2010 Jamis Trail X3 - (one of these: http://www.jamisbikes.com/usa/thebikes/hardtails...) with the stock standard RST Gila T9 fork.
I'd like to replace these with something a little better. The current forks are leaking, and bottom out/top out frequently.
Does anyone have any recommendations? I mostly ride offroad (Manly dam etc), but do the odd on road stint to/from work too (6 k's each way), so a lock-out would be nice.

hi guys I'm struggling to find this information but when i buy shimano mtb shoes
the mo77spd shimano shoes and pd-m530 pedals from cell bikes do i have to buy the cleats separately or do they come with either the shoes or pedals.??????

Help with Rockshox Poploc remote
Hi guys
I just had a 2013 Rockshox Reba fork with a poploc remote installed. But the remote is confusing me.
When the lever is up, the fork is able to move freely.
When i push the button with the unlock symbol, the lever flicks down. The dial on the fork crown rotates anticlockwise. The fork then feels like it's locked. In this position I can feel the difference when I adjust the floodgate.
