Rocky Trail Entertainment Enduro Del Rio

Hey, Is anyone able to give me an idea of what the Del Rio xc course is like. In terms of how technical it is, how does it compare with say yarramundi or ourimbah?

Scott 24 ride

Any Scott 24hr 4 or 6 person teams looking for an additional rider or replacement?
I need a ride for this year, have done last few Monts and Scott 24's and don't want to miss out in 2010.
Prefer to run in a competitive team, but any offer considered.

Bike funnies - Please feel free to post any puns, jokes or "Murphy's Laws" relating to bikes here

Recycling - The re-riding of used bicycles.

When the hydraulic system was invented, it was braking news.

Q: When is a bike not a bike?
A: When it turns into a road.

Murphy's Bike Law #1: The ride you forget to take a spare tube is the ride where you get a flat tyre.

Murphy's Bike Law #2: The sooner an important event is scheduled after your ride is proportional to the likelihood of an unfixable mechanical occuring during a ride.

Comments for Mowbray Park Reserve Action Plan Close Friday

In case you didn't notice, Cadam posted earlier:

Willoughby Council is asking for comment for the Draft Reserve Action Plan for Mowbray Park. This area contains some potential XC and even DH areas and is just outside of Chatswood. Even though MTB is not mentioned in the plan itself, it's open for the community to comment and is an oppurtune time to let council know about the need for MTB trails in the area.

Comments close on Friday (September 10) so if you can write in and let council know more MTB facilities are needed on the North Shore now's a good time. Full details and discussion here:

Angry Dr. 2010 Event Mtb Jersey going for a song.

Anyone want to buy an Angry Dr. 2010 Event Jersey?
Condition: as new

I'll let you have it for $150 Eye-wink

What the hell should I do with it now? Wear it with pride and pretend it doesn't bring back disappointing memories (including a speeding fine on the way down to Mogo)?

[Mod. should really be a classified but will let this one slide. Moved to MTB events]

Magishine 1400

Got my new light today, only took 3 weeks. From the boxing and connecting it all up it looks sweet, really well made. Battery quite heavy and big compared to the Ay-Ups but might be worth it if it's as good as it reckons. One cool thing is the multicolour "fuel gauge" switch.

Sure looks bright in the office Smiling

Custom Length Cranks Help!

Hey,

I have standard length Cranks (175mm i think) and always have trouble with pedaling at speed... i can pedal in a high gear, but if i have to climb i just can't get the rotation speed.... (cadence)

i have been doing some research and i have found custom length cranks might be the way to go...
i did a quick calculation on the ZINN website and it looks like i might benefit from 206 - 210mm Cranks

My question (after all that babble) is can anyone who has custom cranks please comment on their personal results???

Thanks Smiling

Squeeky Pivot when in Pro Pedal - Yeti 575

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hoping someone can help.

When I have pro pedal switched on, I have an annoying squeek coming from the rear shock / pivot area on my Yeti 575.

I do not have the squeek when pro pedal is switched off.

I have had the bike recently serviced (last week), and even though I pointed the issue out before the service it is still unresolved.

As you can imagine the squeek is very annoying on long rides, as I have pro pedal on the majority of the time.

Remember this? I thought it was never going to see the light of day, but CBO have them in stock!

Each Delta 7 Arantix frame has over 1,672 feet of carbon fiber (thats over a quarter mile of material) and takes over 300 hours to build. The resulting pyramidal structure of the frame makes it not only rugged but light -a measly 2.75 pounds.

It is not just Mogo..

Be Careful out there people if you see a fallen branch or something that has come down in the winds we had yesterday , do the right thing & stop get off your bike move the obstacle on the track don't ride around it, cause next lap it could be a part of you or your bike which we don't all want happening .

Commute on MTB or get a cheap roadie?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I'm after some input/advice please.

After living in Crows Nest for 12months and loving the 12 minute ride to work (The Rocks), I'm moving back to Mona Vale.

Now I still want to ride to work a few days a week, but I'm not sure my Dually MTB is the best vehicle for this. (09 Trance X0)

What was previously about 7km a day is now going to be around 70km return (I was planning on hitting wakehurst parkway all the way from Narrabeen to Spit)

Should I

a) Tough it out on the Dually (running crossmark 2.1's) - worried about wear N tear on shiny XTR Drivetrain

Trail Bikes in the Cascades / National Park - who do we call?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi Gang,

I need your advice. Today whilst riding the Cascades we came across two seperate groups of trail bikers (may have been one group split up). Probably about 6-7 bikes, of which 2 of the riders looked to be teenagers. Only one was registered but his plate wasnt readable.

It saddens me that these riders are disrespecting the signs, especially when there is so many places close by that they can ride. It is also a shame to see adults passing down this lack of respect to younger folk.

Why the Angry Doctor was Cancelled

Buck posted this on FB:

Princes hwy mogo. This fell down as we rode to the re start. A car only JUST stopped in time.

Yeah - you can't blame the organisers for cancelling an event through a forest if the trees are just going to fall over randomly! Sad

This weekend's activities

A quick forum and riding round up for the weekend:

For some, this Sunday may well be their hardest ride of the year so wishing everyone heading to the Angry Doctor & Irate Intern best of luck. If you are still holding out hopes of snapping up a late entry BTW, check the classifieds - quick!

It's not all about the doctor though - don't forget those at tomorrow's Wollombi Wild Ride. If you aren't quite up to racing yet, perhaps a Novice Chix XC Clinic is the thing? Eye-wink Or for some plain old fun - head for the Yellomundie Roll on Sunday.

When out on the trails remember to stay safe and always ride within your abilities. There was quite a discussion about a recent accident at manly Dam. Also, look out for the wildlife as we were reminded snake season has started early and what lurks above the 19th hole...

And on the topic of snake bites, danielschipper asked, Why do I get punctures?. Other popular threads recently are, Two things to clarify..., a few words trail status updates, some pretty good tips on how to fix a Camelbak bladder and Frags wondered what to do with his Norco six 1. We also had news about Ku-ring-gai Unstructured Recreation Strategy - please comment!.

Finally, a few clips to rev you up for the weekend, check out these goodies...

Brian Lopes Downhill Run
Helmet cam | Peaty and Minaar | Worlds DH course at Mont Sainte Anne 2010
Post Office Bike jam

... and not so goodies from The Atherton Project - Season 2 Episode 7! Wishing superstar Dan and all those mere mortals out there who might be out of action right now (see above!) a speedy recovery.
