Anyone ridden Andersons Lately?
A very good evening to you all...
Has anyone ridden Andersons in the past few weeks?...i see that it was closed for sometime a few months ago and has recently reopened.
Have the bulldozers and clearers been at work and flattened it like they did with The Oaks? Particularly that couple of k's of gnarly downhill to Bedford Creek..is that still the same?
Cheers
Tom
mountain biking friendly flat/house
Hi!
First off, I am not really sorry for maybe an off topic... hmm..
I am a New Zealand citizen of Russian origin and am moving to Sydney to take up a permanent job IT. However, I am quite passionate about mountain biking and so I am wondering what would be an optimal area to live - closer to MTB trails and trains that take you to CBD. Any pointers/hints would be very much appreciated.
Moreover, if someone is looking for a really nice flatmate with a PhD in mathematics and a passion for mountain biking look no further - I am your perfect flatmate..
Christina Lodge
Hi Bernd,

Sat or Sun spin
Looking to get out this weekend- open on location cause I don't know many, would be great to tag along with a group that gets out every week. So if you've got something planned or want to get out yourself let me know.
Thanks
Thredbo DH
I am heading down to Thredbo to do some Cannonball shenanigans this coming Anzac long weekend.
Just wondering if anyone else had any plans to head down and wanted to get together for some runs down the mountain.
I will be riding Sunday 25th and Maybe the afternoon of Saturday 24th.
Probikeshop.fr ??
Hi all
Looking at deals on the web this afternoon and came across an online retailer Probikeshop.fr
They have some amazing prices especially on forks. Has anyone had any first hand experience with this website ? Are there any catches in buying online from a french retailer. I've had great experiences with CRC but have never come across this online retailer before.
As any example I came across these DT SWISS forks: DT SWISS EXC 150 RTLC Fork 15mm
shimano 9 spd chain
Hi all
1 link on chain is bent, tried to disconnect with chain breaker to no avail, do you need special tool due to rivet head, or is it just the driver ?
Black or Gold
So who uses black and who uses gold Shimano SPD cleats? Looks like black comes standard in the box.
Any comments on Gold? Are they good?

n.s.w cross country , state series
was just looking in the hunter mountain bike calendar for 2010 and saw some dates for the n.s.w state cross country series , these were may 15,16 , june 12 , 13 , july 10,11. can anyone confirm these dates or can we just continue on with details coming as in previous reports .
Spot Tracker
Anyone using one yet? I got one for other purposes, but figured I may as well take it with me when I go riding.
I did the Oaks on Friday and Andersons / Oaks today. Both times it tracked me down the Oaks perfectly, but today it totally missed Andersons.
Has anyone else been using one of these and had large bits of missing data? Mine is the newer Spot2, however it does need to go back for replacement due to some battery life recall. I had great success using it in the deserts of California, just confusing why it didn't work today.

Tentative planning: Training ride - GNR or Nthn Beaches
I want to do a bit of training for DirtWorks - build up a few km's and hours on the bike.
I'd like to do Wiseman's GNR but not overly keen on doing it solo for safety reasons.
I'm looking to do about 60 - 80 km, or 4 - 6 hours. Minimal stops along the way apart from nutrition break at half way point.
Meet at the ferry, up Devine's Hill, out past Clare's bridge for x km or hours, and then return via Shepherds gully.
Anyone interested?
Mystery Trail
Ive always seen the end of this trail and wondered were it went so after much googling found it connects up 2 a trail i frequently do (part 1) but the rest of the trail i could never do (part 2) because i don't no how to join it up?? Not even sure if part 2 is a trail i just saw a line on google maps so i assume it is. But as you can see even thou i end it where i do u can add a preitty decent amount of trail to the ride so maybe this has potential? It also could be very scenic most of the ride is along a river witch connects up to the harbour.
Local Ride on the Beaches
Anyone up for a local ride on Monday. I haven't been in Sydney so not sure what the weather has been like. I'm thinking Cascades if it isn't too wet but happy with anything.
Recommendations for noobs
Been developing quite a legion of noobs to MTBing of late and one of them has asked what he should get as his first dual suspension.
I'm some what cringe at the notion that he said he wanted to get one off ebay but it aint my stoush, so i told him to go with a Stumpie over a Giant Trance, both 4 years old.
Question is... is ebay ever a good place to get your first rig? And does anyone wanna offload an old dual suspension rig for around $800?
Brake pads
Any recommendations on brake pads? I have Avid Elixir's and am putting in an order with CRC so think that I may as well get some brake pads as it will be my last order for a while (sure). Is there something I should be looking out for ("metal organic", "sintered", "organic", "ceramic"...wtf) and any brands that are recommended over others?
Manly Dam
Hi guys,
has anyone been around (run or ridden) the dam today?
Just wondering how it has coped with the rain and if it suitable for riding tomorrow.
GNR - Shepherd's Gully Road
Great Northern Road - Just wondering how technical Shepherd's Gully Road is as a descent? Would it compare to Manly Dam technical sections and is it technical all the way or just some sections.
Wollemi/Wolgan Valley/beyond Lithgow MTB trip?
Gauging interest in a MTB trip in the Wollemi / Wolgan Valley / Dunns Swamp area (Lithgow/Kandos area) sometime between 7-11 April....
There is great scenery, MTB trails, canoeing and camping facilities in this hidden valley. Our family will be staying in the general area; and Benji and I plan to do some exploratory MTB rides in the region (3-5 hrs) on at least one or two of these days.
hardtail suspension upgrade
Ive currently got a dart 3 fork witch is you no what and am very unhappy with it.
Im looking for something smooth, something that takes the small bumps and not just rattle my brain to pieces and also have enough travel to take some bigger ones.
Ive been looking at the rock shox tora 318 u turn and it seems to be what i want, is it any good? Are there any other forks like this i should no of.
And am i better of with coil or air not very sure with that department...
Thanks once again everyone
Jono

WTB: 160 mm disc rotor, Shimano or Avid or similar, 6 bolt, urgent
Benji managed to bent his rear disc rotor at the Mont (someone ran into his parked bike).
We wanted to go cycling this weekend so I'm looking for a 160 mm disc rotor, Shimano or Avid or similar, 6 bolt, in decent condition.
There is not enough time to wait for a CRC delivery, so I'm looking for a second hand one.
Please contact me via phone on profile, or PM or post.
Cheers, Hans
Wet weather ride
Where do people recommend a ride after the rain has fallen as it has done in the last 24 hours. I really want to get out for a ride this evening (make the most of a few more days of daylight savings) and was planning Manly Dam. There wasn't that much rain but given the erosion to some parts over the last few months it could probably do with all the help it can get.
Orange Trails?
I'm heading to a town just outside Orange for the Easter long weekend and I was wondering if it's worth taking my bike. I've heard there are trails in and around Orange.....
Kinross forest: Has anyone been there? Is it any good? Is it easy to find my way around without a guide?
Any other areas?
Cheers guys.
