Wanting to clip in but have a short leg (3.5cm shorter than the other)

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Well, have been inspired by Trev's thread over here http://nobmob.com/node/13306 but have a problem (which I'd kind of forgotten about!)

My right leg is 3.5cm shorther than my left. I had platforms put onto my bike when I bought it because of it, but now I'm thinking of clipping in, I'm wondering if there's anything I can do.

With my current riding shoes, these are just an old pair of trainers which I have my shoe man slice off the sole, insert 3.5cm of fill, then stick the sole back on. Works well for trainers and has done for 10 or so years.

Event Entry Trading... use the Classifieds, Luke

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

We've noticed an increasing amount of event entries for trade/sale/wanted recently. Sooooo....

... just a gentle reminder that it you want to trade anything - yes, including event entries, please post in classifieds.

Why? Well - so the forum for event discussion doesn't get clogged up with trading, and classifieds are specifically designed to be quickly withdrawn when the item is no longer for trade/sale/wanted (if you're logged in, simply click the 'Click to withdraw' link that appears top of you ad.).

Commuters - Light up!

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Although this seems like a rather obvious subject, I'm surprised with how many commuters (on road bikes and MTB) I have passed who had inadequate or zero lighting.
This is not limited to dawn/dusk times where some may argue that there is some natural light as I have passed some commuters at 9pm with just a single rear wheel reflector.

Dirtworks 100 Tire choice

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Hey NSW, what tires will suit dirtworks 100. I have Maxxis Aspen, Stans Raven or Racing Ralph. Like fast rolling and some grip!!! What do you recommend to someone who is unfamiliar with NSW, cheers

Hornsby Council lobbying... time to bang the table

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

From HSMBA:
Hi Everyone,

We continue to come under fire from conservationist groups. Our recreation
is called short term, expensive, exclusive, for a small age group and that we
will lead to the ultimate destruction of all flora and fauna. Seriously!

So we have a real battle because even though we know the facts do not
support these claims, the decision makers do not necessarily know the truth
and are swayed. We are trying to educate them with the facts and also
inviting them to the IMBA workshop for land managers in late April, but it's
a battle.

Update on Manly Dam Maintenance Days

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

A few weeks back, when I thought the dust from the Manly Dam debacle had settled, thought it was time to ask council what is going to happen with maintenance days.

The story so far (for those that don't know) is that I've been asking the rangers there since June 2008 (22 months!) when riders can help maintain the track they love so much. Each time I ask, they are always "coming soon". More examples of when I spoke to them and was told the same thing:

Images in classifieds

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Just now I've added the ability to allow classified posters to include images of their items. Probably long overdue, sorry for the delay Eye-wink

Eg, those sexy SLR wheels:

Classified listings now feature thumbs if the poster makes use of this feature:

http://nobmob.com/classified

It should be pretty self explanatory how this works (click 'Browse', click 'Upload'... repeat until done) but as usual, shout out with any issues you see.

Enjoy Smiling

Hand... brake?

Warning: graphic content... do not follow this link if you have a weak stomach!

Saw this earlier - a very bizarre/unlucky accident report, but heed the warning above - there are some graphic images.

On the plus side... if you've ever wanted to see what an X-ray of a Hope brake lever assembly looks like, now's your chance! Eye-wink

Super Duper Awesome Manly Dam fun!

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I'm riding the dam tomorrow for minimum of 5 hours. I will try to keep my Heart rate under 80% for most of it like i did on Monday.
This will entail the up parts to be done slowly and the rest to be reasonably quick.
I may go round and round and round ( like Monday) or i may shoot off and do pipeline as well.
I will not be using a backpack so will be refilling my bottle at the Lab car park approximately every hour.
All are welcome to join in, tag along, throw tomatoes etc . Average speed will be 16 - 17 km/h approx = 36 minute laps so not fast.

Suspension seatpost anyone?

Hi all,

I've been thinking of getting a suspension seatpost for my Giant hardtail. Has anyone tried these? Of course i don't expect it to be like a dual suspension but at least soak up enough bumps to make it more comfortable, esp over rocky stuff. I been looking at the Cane Creek Thudbuster Lt or the U.S.E Sumo XCR. Any comments would be helpful.

Cash Traders

Hi all

After hearing a friend had his expensive DH bike stolen the other day I thought I would post what I consider strange.
I saw a Giant Glory DH0, perhaps 2008, in Cash Traders at DY with $3000.00 on it. If I needed to offload a bike of that calibre, it would not be somewhere like that.

Hope it helps anyone

Someone says to me after a 30km ride at Ourimbah , "ya gotta go clipless.." the question is, do I ? and if so, what type do i go for.
I ride techo stuff and the occasional xc style stuff. I am also booked to do three races this year. Will i miss my flat pedals ?
