DH Minions on tubeless

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

My front tyre, a LUST 2.35 Ignitor is due for an upgrade and I run 819 tubeless rims

The ignitor is a good tyre, but given some curry it can let go without warning
So I'm feeling like branching out and giving something new a try
Something that can really rail corners, even if I can't

I have read good things about the maxxis minion but can't find a tubeless version (buying online)
Maxxis Minion DH Front Tyre - Dual Ply- MaxxPro 60a - 2.35

Firstly, is this a good tyre choice for those that have used one

Torpedo7 - ROUTE 7 High Power P7 (900L) LED Headlight for $99!

http://www.torpedo7.com.au/products/R7LI4N0LI

Might consider buying one of these.

Does anyone else have one, how do they rate?

The LED is Good (P7 LED 900 Lumens) and they say up to 180 min on 100% anfd the batteries are Lithium Ion with recharge time of 3.5 to 4H.
Neat feature of power LED going red when battery has 25% left.

Just got the email today so it looks like a weekly special.

let me know your thoughts

Cheers

Lane Cove NP - access via Vimiera / M2 underpass

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

From CAMWEST via mtb-oz, news that will affect mtb access to LCNP and anyone that uses the Brown's waterhole cycle path to link the upper north shore with the rest of the world, or commutes of trains on the M2.....

most of you would be aware of the proposed closure of the break down lane on the M2 for a period of two years whilst upgrading works are carried out. The greatest effects will be felt around Macquarie Uni, but it will have ramifications for any commuting cyclist travelling east of Windsor Road.

This is pretty disgusting:

http://www.smh.com.au/environment/swap-and-chop-...

Developers will be able to bulldoze environmentally sensitive land in Sydney if they pay to protect equivalent land elsewhere, under a scheme that puts a dollar value on animals and plants.

New Glenrock Trail Alliance Website

Just thought I would put a quick note up to let you guys know about the new Glenrock Trail Alliance Website (http://www.glenrocktrailalliance.com) that is now running.

We have joined up with the Global Rider network, so you will see improved maps of glenrock on here and I'm guessing some content from our site will cross over to here.

If your after Glenrock info though, its probably the place to go looking. It will also be the place to check out news about Trail Building, Advocacy and the like from Glenrock.

Seat Post QR Clamps

When buying a QR seat post clamp. Is the dimension of the clamp the inner diameter of the clamp (outside dimension of the seat tube)?

Rookie Mistake - almost cost me medium sized $$$s

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

So I had my first ever puncture, changed the tube and got on with the ride. Got back to the car and realized there was a massive kink in the tire. Hub was okay, but the actual tire itself had a massive bulge on one side.

I got home deflated the tube, took the tire off, put it back on, same thing...

Called the bike shop, told them my 4 week old Bontrager XDX 29in tire died after a slow speed puncture. Was all ready to buy a replacement when I decided to put a bit more air in the front seemingly broken tire.

Damage to Trees Near Oxford Falls Trailhead

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I've had some reports this week from the residents who live near the top carpark area that a number of trees have been cut down along the main dirt road heading toward the model plane club gates, with the cut trees being placed across the road. It is expected that this occurred some time Tuesday evening and the vandalism is being taken fairly seriously.

If anyone was in the area on Tuesday for some late DH runs or perhaps a night ride and happened to see or hear anything please send the details to [email protected] and I'll pass them on to the relevant parties.

All local Mountain Bikers/Dirt Jumpers should take a look as its amazing what they have squeezed into the site

Great work Dave, and the guys helping out with the build!

Thanks must also go to the council for allowing the rebuild and the dollars

Over 2 years of NPWS indecision on Mountain Bike Trails

Following up from NPWS issues - It's time for some letter writing!, here's what I just sent to the minister and senior DECCW staff:

Dear Minister and senior staff,

NPWS issues - It's time for some letter writing!

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Although we have had positive engagement with NPWS staff in the last six months, more recently I have become concerned that things are stalling at government level and am less optimistic about the process that started last year (see NPWS Sustainable Cycling and Mountain Biking Workshop).

Seems I'm not alone in this thinking, as below is some information one of the NoBMoB advocacy crew put together.

The bottom line is, it's time to get a concerted email campaign going. We need to show the powers that be we appreciate efforts to date, but that concrete results on the ground (in the bush!) are what is needed.

Please, everyone, do not leave this to chance. Do not expect that everyone else will be writing and your little bit won't make a difference. As we saw with Manly Dam, every letter counts and you can make a difference!

Even if you only string a short paragraph or two together saying you enjoy riding and would like to see legal single track in the Northern Beaches that would help. If you have time to include some background and a personal perspective all the better.

Below are the addresses of the current minister (Frank Sartor) and some DECCW management that need to hear our message:

[email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]

Click here to email them all.

Read on for more information on this and ideas of what needs to be said...

What does a "guarantee" mean for a new bike?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I recently purchased a new XC bike for my son. A great deal with Sram X9 running gear amongst other goodies, a real bargin for just under $2K from a Sydney bike shop.

All was great but in our first run out at Wingello the rear hub developed this horrible clicking noise (wheel removed from frame so no brake rub) with no where near free rotation.

How many spare inner tubes should I take for a 50km event? Yes, I'm a massive newbie!

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hello all,

feel sure it's been addressed in another thread, but can't find one. I'm doing my first 50km Enduro (Capital Punishment). I'm really new to the sport and would really appreciate some advice on how many spare inner tubes I should take along.

I know this is a how long is a piece of string question, but just trying to get a feel for what other people do?

The bike is 29er, in the 50-60km I've had her, I've only had the one puncture (front). However, this was on Stromlo (part of the Capital Punishment course) and that was after 2hours of riding there.
