Trek World Racing In Pursuit Episode 3
Here's Trek World Racing In Pursuit Episode 3:
What with this and The Atherton Project we're getting quite a nice look at the pro's at the moment. Good stuff.
Terry Hills BMX track
Can anyone advise what the condition of the Terry Hills BMX track is at the moment as I was thinking of going there tomorrow for a bit of fun?

Family fun day at Awaba
did some trailwork at Awaba today, upon returning to carpark it was a joy to see families all having fun enjoying this great park with heaps of kids on the trails all watching & listening & learning on MTB riding!!!
The Atherton Project
Nice little series:

Attaching lights - rubber bands
Got a nightlight during the week and while attempting to attach to my bars I succesfully (or unsuccessfully) snapped both "o" rings.(you get what you pay for I jury rigged it with some zip ties but anyone know where you can get the thick "o"ring type rubber bands or some other method of attaching to bars. So far have tried Sparts at Forestville, Clarks Rubber, Whitworths ( who had shock cord)........

Ride suggestions
Could anyone suggest a route that would be a good one for a ride tomorrow with my g/f. It will be the first time she's ridden over here (have recently emigrated fron the UK), so whilst she's a capable rider, she hasn't ridden for a while and I don't want to put her off her off with anything too technical just yet - ideally mainly firetrack with maybe a bit of singletrack here and there, nice views etc etc. We're in central Sydney so can go in any direction really - just looking for the right trail to get her back into it.
Thanks for any ideas
Mike
Pants Pictures
It was a slow news afternoon so have been playing with the images from this morning's ride. It's really nice to do a social ride again and get some shots, but that camera (it's an old Olympus) isn't so good. The flash is hopeless and today's bright skies and long shadows were tough conditions.
The sort of shots I like display a sense of movement. Usually when the background is blurred but the rider is mostly still or travelling through that background things look pretty nice. Something a bit like these... which are straight out of a Canon G7 is kindof nice:
Tentative planning: Awaba night ride tonight
Hi there
I am also up in the hunter this weekend. Never ridden Awaba at night, but was wondering if any one is interested in doing a lap or two of Awaba tonight.
Starting around 6pm.
Any interest ??

Days are numbered
Well it's officially official
While we have been given various time lines for logging at Lidsdale in the past today I got the official letter from the harvesting manager. Come Spring 2011 the twisting joy of Lidsdale single trail will be replaced by a naked hill criss crossed with the catapillar tracks of the logging machines.
Our current yearly SPP runs out in January and will not be renewed. No event will be approved at that site from Easter....
On the Up side they are happy for us to negotiate a new area. Keep those line scoping eyes open and digging shoes at the ready
Belrose River?
One of my colleagues just sent this mail... stay away from trails in the area
I’ll be working from Home today to supervise Sydney Water as they dig up my backyard in search of the blockage that is causing the river of poo flowing thru Belrose.
Cracked frame Mark II
Just thought i'd post the photos of my Scott Nitrous 20 having cracked for the second time.
It cracked over a year ago and i got it welded back together but the crack recently opened up again after I started doing some serious DH on it.
The below photos show the front triangle only and the crack. The crack actually extended around the other side as well but was hairline thin.
This week's round-up
Or maybe that should say "Last 2 weeks" round up?
Last week the talk was all about Capital Punishment 2010 and the 'fun' that was had. Check the link and read some of the blogs on what turned out to be a torturous event. Fatboy summed up some common feelings, "One look told me my wife had the day from hell with the kids so we had something in common...". Although we all know the complaints were only in jest... right?
We all know riding in bad conditions is bad for the trails and bad for your bike. After the terrible conditions in Canberra, sideshow asked, How to fix mud induced mechanicals?
With a couple of weeks rest now passed, I'll bet it doesn't feel that bad at all... erm... maybe? A lot of you must feel that way though, noting that this year's Angry Doctor event is already sold out! For those wanting an easier ride closer to home, some suggest the, Wollombi Wild Ride on the same weekend.
Here in Sydney, thankfully the sun is out, but be mindful that trails like Manly Dam take a long time to dry out. At least we can think about riding on some firetrails again though, and some lucky people will be doing that tomorrow. Friday riders, eh? Hawkeye is planning a birthday ride - perhaps he's getting shy though - it's not in the calendar yet
Or if you fancy just tuning your skills, nix85 asked, about the best place to practice log rolls n drop offs.
Elsewhere, the BMORC guys are heading to Lisdale on Sunday, or you could hit up Glenrock instead. Or even <cough>the black stuff</cough>.
log rolls n drop offs
anyone know of a good area to practice things like log rolls, and drop offs....somewhere where the landings are smooth (preferrably somewhere if i land badly its nto going to end in broken bones )
Awaba just begs
to be riddeen as hard as you can go! how awesome is it just rode for first time, cant wait to get out there on Sunday to do trailwork then ride!!!!
How is Manly Dam
Has anyone checked out the status in the last day?

Help for some newbie 'oldies' get through the Snowy
Hi guys,
We are a bunch of guys planning on hitting the fire trails from Thredbo to Tathra and need a little advice on the route. We'll start with 'the pinch' ride down to the snowy but we then need to head east and get to Delegate. There seems to be two tracks over the mountains, the 'snowy creek fire trail' and the 'snowy track'. Has anyone any comments or ideas of the route? Also if this thread is in the right forum?
Cheers
Holiday ideas
I've got a week's holiday coming up and looking for ideas and suggestions on where to go.
I'm keen on spending the time riding my bike, exploring, and relaxing. It will however be during the school holidays coming up in July so don't want anywhere that will be too crowded or expensive.
I thought of heading south but being winter I'd prefer to go north and somewhere warmer.
I'll take a tent with me but will prefer to stay in cheap motels or cabins at caravan parks.
Any suggestions?
Maybe spend a day or two on the trails around Taree? Then north to Coffs for a bit?
Cheers
Where to buy Battery?
I'm looking at buying the all new 7 UP Trout Light http://www.troutie.com/index.php?option=com_cont... but they can no longer ship matching Li-ion or Polymer batteries to Australia due to air freight import restrictions. So can anyone recommend where I could purchase a 14.8v 5.2Ah bottle battery other than Lupine please? I don't have time nor have the inclination to build one either.
Thnx - Winco
Sydney take note and learn.....!
Was in Adelaide on the weekend, and in my travels i noticed how bike friendly the town is. Firstly there is Eagle Mountain Bike Park, yep the local government had something to do with this, AND THEN...in the middle of the city (ok 1 km from the city centre) i find THIS.......see pictures........man....our local councils need to open their eyes to the biking fraternity....this dirt jump track rivaled red hill, and there were two BMX tracks.....no fences, no permits and not three hundred signs erected by council to void themselves from liability.
Heaton State Forest
Hi All
I went exploring yesterday, first time riding in this area. I rode from Brunkerville on the management trail connecting to Sugarloaf Range Road and descended down to the freeway and wakefield. I rode pretty much out and back. Trail was in good condition, all being rutted from rain but still firm.
The Creators Project
This is slightly off topic, but... some of this tech. should find it's way into MTB film making soon:

omg another brake question
Yes, i am asking another brake question sorry!
The one piston in my rear brake caliper will not return, only when i take it apart and push the piston back in will it return :S
I bled the brakes last night (first time ever doing it, front took me about an hour and a lotta fluid, back took me 5min and much less fluid ) and i got them bang on, still getting all the power not spongy levers or anything.
Thanks everyone!
Jono
