Busted Horse
Got back from a ride yesterday after hitting the Kiwarrak trail on my Ironhorse Bootleg 2.0, on cleaning the bike decided to have a little check over the bike for any cracks / damage as I normally don't ( I know my bad ) but in shock i discovered my back triangle near the pivot fully cracked on both sides of the bike.
Syncros DP 25 Tubeless
Hi All,
Has anyone attempted converting the Syncros DP 25 rims to tubeless ? and how did it go as I am thinking of converting but would like to know if its compatible and worth doing on these rims.
Thanks

NSW becoming the sloth state
See here:
http://www.smh.com.au/lifestyle/wellbeing/nsw-be...
NSW is racing to become the nation's laziness capital, with new figures showing only South Australians did less exercise than we did in the past year.
The fittest state or territory was the ACT...
Which capital city has dire MTB facilities? Which has the best? Coincidence? I think not!
Clipless practice
There are often questions about clipless pedals here. Yes, rather strangely named as these are the ones that you clip into as opposed to flats.
Anyhow, people often ask, "Are they hard to get used to?", and, "Will I fall off?".
Invariably the answers are: "Sometimes" and "Yes!"
Just wanted to share our experience this arvo with Pratiwi having her first attempt at clipless on the MTB. We went to a local park and cycled about 10 laps of a soccer field. The ground was damp so nice and soft. And lucky too, she was on the floor very soon
Reading material
A nice collection of reading material to thumb through here. Any guesses as to this fine location?
Careflight: BMORC at start

Track should be great with the unexpected nice sunny afternoon
Brake pressure
I'm losing pressure in my rear Shimano LX integrated brake system. After the bike has been idle for a while, I can pull the lever into the bars. A bit of pumping on the lever it brings the pressure back up and it works OK. Is this likely to be just a bleed issue, or are there other possibilities? Can't see any leaks anywhere.

Well done to everyone who competed in last weekend's Husky Enduro 2010. Especially the first timers and those posting impressive times. Sounds like a great event, but where were the pictures?
Camera work was not lacking at Glenrock though, when sammydog and crew showed off their latest trailwork from last weekend. When will we get the chance to do this on the Northern Beaches? Who knows, but at least Warringah Council began their PoM meetings this week so here's hoping they take note of the great feedback given. Whilst nrthrnben reminded us to help out our interstate riding buddies, but time is running out - like today!
For those feeling a little flush, Rob asked if anyone knew of any worthy bike related charities, and had a couple of suggestions. Of course, sometimes just entering an event is the way to go. Don't forget this year's Woodford to Glenbrook Classic is on this Sunday. It may be too late to get an entry, but just be aware if you plan on riding the Oaks this weekend - Sunday morning is probably out, and take care of walkers all day.
With the trails still pretty damp in our area, the pick of this weekend's riding will probably be craked's just another manic menai or <cough>the blackstuff... again!</cough>. Or if you can't get up to the mountains this weekend, but maybe fancy a late night on Wednesday, the BMORC guys will be going for a night ride - Glenbrook to the Oaks then.

Awaba on Saturday 26 June?
I see from the calendar there is racing on Sunday at Awaba.
Was thinking of riding at Awaba on Saturday. Is that likely to be OK or is there some race or track preparation happening for Sunday's activities?
thanks

Cascades Trail / Ingeegoodbe track / Nine mile fire trail / Barry way loop
I was cruising google earth the other day, and saw this series of trails up in the snowys, and i started to wonder...
It looks like a fairly do-able loop, i remember reading somewhere about the possibility of riding it as a 2-3 day spring ride. With either a car shuffle or a long bit of road bash.
Anyone familiar with it? Done it? other options in the vicinity?
(it starts at Dead horse gap)

Bicycle rider numbers in the Northern Beaches
Just reading through the thread about the latest council meeting.
Is there any factual information on the actual numbers of locals (residents of the Northern beaches) that ride bikes in general? It would be very interesting reading, all the different demographics that ride different disciplines.

Yellomundie and NPWS
Does anyone know anything about if there is a problem at Yellomundie between riders and NPWS?
I have seen a few mentions here and there about negotiations between WSMTB and NPWS. On the Rocky Trail site I recently read something like "this could be the last big event at Yellomundie" referring to one of their events.
I cant work anything out from the WSMTB site, but does anyone know if Yellomundies future is in doubt?
Our Council is being left behind again!
Check this article out from Jindabyne, again our council is being left behind by the forward planning in other areas;
http://www.summitsun.com.au/news/local/news/gene...
I particularly like the part where they say, " Executive manager of environmental services Charles Litchfield assured councillors well built tracks required little maintenance and cyclists normally did what was required.
Sending a bike to NZ (and back)
Hi, for various reasons when I head off to Rotorua, New Zealand in October for a holiday and to then compete in the Single Speed Worlds (beer drinking competition) I won’t be able to fly with my bike.
So, I was wondering if anybody knew a good way to send a bike from here to there – and back again for a reasonable fee?
What mean is, UPS just quoted me $800AUD one way! – Crazy..
Of course I will have the bike professionally boxed. And the weight should be no more the about 14kg’s maximum once boxed up.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
BMORC web site as PR point
Hi guys, I'm just writing some letters to council and thinking about whether to mention BMORC, and if so, how. Also, having just read that we now have some stickers, I'm wondering what it is that people will do when they get that sticker.
What they're gonna do (I hope), is visit the BMORC web site. And this is also what I'd like my councillor to do when I send him/her a letter.
Late reply from NPWS
While many people reported receiving this canned reply from Sally Barnes last month, for whatever reason I only got mine this week.
Which is a good thing I guess, because it reminded me to reply. I wrote back and brought up 2 points:
Shack Attack 6 hour
anyone thinking of riding the Shack Attack 6 hr event at coondoo rd nowra on 18th july ? should be a fun event,it was last year
I have entered mens pairs with my nephew.
Signage on Old Bathurst Rd
Is it just me or are all my fellow residents also under the impression that the signage at the trail head on Old Bathurst Rd would lead you to believe that "reserve" mentioned in the sign means all the reserve in the general area ie Knapsack reserve.
I have avoided riding in the area since the signs went up i can't risk an $1100 fine, to say the sign is somewhat ambiguous would be an understatement.
Your thoughts?
