Eleebana Trails
Latest installment of trail mapping.
This time it is the trails running from the ridge along Eleebana.
Brown is management trail, orangey and blue stuff is nominally walking and cycling trail (in most cases everything that's in orange is what I reckon would be a waste of time riding but YMMV)
Generally I just ride the fire trail that runs through the middle and continues into Tingara Heights but I decoded to explore what else is around.
Make sure you can come !! Council Meeting 29th June 7:30pm
Ok there will be a very important council meeting on the 29th of June. This will be the one where the council's report on alternate downhill track sites is discussed.
What will be very important is that we get as many mountain bikers there that evening as possible. We need to show numbers and be a presence. The last meeting with 9 of us there we were a joke.
It's my party and I'll ride if I want to
Well, I turn 21 again on Saturday and it looks like it might be dry most of the week leading up to it so I'm thinking of organising an easy training / newby friendly ride. The question is WHERE?
Thinking either:
Duckholes -> Centre -> Perimeter -> Long;
Cascades; or
A couple of laps around Manly Dam.
I'm still rebuilding a fitness foundation after a somewhat ordinary last 12 months, and had a chest cold last week, so my "training" pace is going to be pretty mild.
Great North Walk/ Kuringai Chase National Park Riding
Looking at doing some exploring in the norther Sydney district. i know the GNW (great north walk) well in the Lane Cove park till you get to thornleigh but its unknown territory for me after that. Just wanted to know if it's worth riding up to berowra or further north or is it just mostly hike a bike?? Also is there any good riding to be had on the way to the basin area of Kuringai Chase NP.

City commute
Anybody have a good route to the city from Lane Cove area? There is the cycle path which goes a fair way but I'm not sure where it comes off. Any Garmin/GPS maps? Might be the only riding I get in if the rain keeps up.
Cheers

The Oaks
I'm thinking about hitting The Oaks on Sunday Morning if it doesn't bucket tomorrow/Sunday. Has anyone been up there this week? Is it as wet up there as on the coast after the rain this week?
WHICH TIME IS CORRECT
I completed the 50k capital punishment, the web site posted my time as 3:40, i was stoked with that, then a few days after i was lookin at it again and my time was 3:30 , i improved my time by 10 minutes....anyone else bumped into this one...? if i look at it next week , will i improve my time even more...
Where to ride in the rain?
Guys,
Am new to the area (well, to the country actually) and have been without my bike for about 3 months whilst it was being shipped over - so now it's here I'm pretty keen to get out for a ride.
Back in the UK I wouldn't give a second thought to riding pretty much any of my local routes in the rain (in fact, some of the best riding is in the wet), but here I've noticed there seems to be much more concern about the problem of cutting up trails.
I'm pretty much in central Sydney, so where would be the nearest XC trail that would be OK to ride in the wet?
Thanks
Mike
Rush skips a gear
Just talking about cables and stuff in the other thread, reminded me of a prob I have with my Rush. When ever I go off a gutter and pedaling, it seems to want to skip a gear.
A run down on the bike, it's only recently been built, It's got all new outer and inner cables, XTR shifters, XTR shadow long cage derailleur, XT cassette, XTR chain. Now, I'm pretty confident it's not a component problem as it was happening when I had m SLX shifters on there and the SLX rear derailleur on there. I thought that this problem was from them, so I went the upgrade.
Ginger - new recovery aid?
For those who suffer on the Tuesday after big events, ginger may be worth a try in the week before. http://www.uga.edu/news/artman/publish/100519gin...
They don't say what negative effects it has on performance.
Perhaps the mob could put together a research paper - 'Alcoholic ginger beer, effects on levels of performance and day after recovery' - call for volunteers!

Capital punishment for the bikes. How to fix mud induced mechanicals
After the epic ride in canberra over the weekend, thought today would be a great day to go for a quick spin as the sun was beaming. However as i was running over my bike everything was wrong with it!! Stiff cranks, hardly anything left on brake pads, stiff headset, stiff shifters. thats the stuff i notice straight away without riding the poor thing.
So a few questions;
Does stiff cranks mean i need a new BB
Does stiff shifters mean i have to replace the housing and cabling
And are there any other things i need to look over after long rides in muddy conditions?
Calling all 575 owners
My 575 is going on a year and a half and I'm considering rebuilding her. The master rebuild kit (bearings for all linkages) cost $$$$ from Yeti. Has anyone pulled their bearings and just cleaned and repacked them or do you always go with fresh new bearings? Or have you buy individual bearings from a bearings shop and replace as required?
Cheers

Great northern road to Mogo Creek
Wondering if anyone has ridden the GNR up to Mogo creek, and camped there overnight. Whats the campsite like?

Oaks ride 19th June
Hi folks,
We're planning on doing an Oaks up and back ride on Sat 19th June. Plan, at this stage, would be set-off from the Euroka campground, up Bennetts ridge and then the main trail up to the gate at Woodford. Return but take the single track at the bottom of the hill rather back down Bennetts ridge, and finally back along the road to Euroka. This is a shade over 50 km and would plan on doing it in somewhere around 3-4 hours (nearer the 4 end, I suspect).
Anyone interested ?
Cheers
Mike
24 hr and Enduro events listing
Just wondering if there are any other 24 hr events that are scheduled this year. My brother-inlaw and a couple of friends are keen to do one.
Is there a website that lists all of them?
What about 50 and 100km enduro's?
Cheers

Need New Headset
Looking for a new headset, as my current one is buggered (especially after 53km of mud at CP)
My current headset is a FSA 'The Pig' - does not have sealed bearings - lame!
I have a 1 1/8" headset

Hey everyone,
my friend Ingrid is a newbie to riding and has decided to undertake 600km bike ride through Vietnam and Cambodia with a charity called PROJECT FUTURES, a charity that, in affiliation with the Somaly Mam foundation, helps to raise money to help the millions of innocent children sold into sex slavery every year. I told her i would help spread the word in the bike community. she's written to the herald and is facebook circulating the below facts to help get some awareness and raise some money for the foundation
