Rode both Serrata and Gahnia late today and saw stacks of the pink markers on the trails.

If so WTF or is it just some ones sick joke ??
Grips
Hi Guys, looking for recommendations on new grips. My Giant Trance grips are almost worn through after only 5 months. Most my rides are 60km XC rides around Terrey Hills or Manly Dam for a few laps.
Cheers

Caroline Buchanan has featured in a Stealth Bikes advert on facebook.
In her facebook status she did make note "No Mountain Bike trails where harmed in the making of this film"
HT plus LT dually, or do it all FS bike?
Hi all, I'm after opinions to help work through a new bike choice.
I'm thinking about getting a new bike later in the year and I'm having trouble deciding what way to go. Mostly the choice centres around how much travel to get, so I'm not after advice on what bike model/brand is better.
Creating a smart phone app for cyclists - online survey to help a nobmober/masters student at UTS
Hi nobmobers
-nobmober/mum/worker and forever the uni student here
- Hoping I can post a cycle survey link for anyone who fancies procrastinating at work and helping a group of mature age Masters students?
SURVEY: http://goo.gl/yMCoJ0
We are creating a cycle app and I would value anyone willing to smash out a response for us - if we had prizes and incentives I would definitely provide them.....
Random thoughts, meaningless trivia and re-direction of this post welcome.

Bike thief scumbags
I managed to thwart a druggo scumbag this morning trying to manipulate a padlock open on a bike on the bike racks outside Clarence St Cyclery this morning.
Tried to get a photo but failed. He's one of the homeless guys who lines up outside the Public Trustee a few doors down from Atelier de Velo, although his face was new.
The chain was a cheap and light gate fence type with a very light brass padlock, which is probably a lesson. It wouldn't have stopped anyone with the lightest of bolt cutters and is probably what attracted this ratbag.
Rider down on the Oaks single track
A rider went down after an overtaking mishap yesterday afternoon on the oaks single track. Unfortunately it looks like collar bone and rib fractures (ending his mont training campaign). Ambos were called and they did a great job getting to the sight in about 15 mins.
If anyone knows this fella, please PM me,
Cheers
Top up sealant?
Hi all,
I'm running tubeless and got a puncture today - a piece of steel ended up in my tyre. I pulled it out and a bit of sealant came out. I put it hole side to the ground and lent on it and it self sealed. So far all good. I was on my way home and the ride home was fine. I've since pumped it up hard and it's pretty solid.
Do I need to add more sealant or just let it be as it's all good? If so what's the best way (I've heard of people using a syringe??)
FYI the tyres are only about 4 weeks old and a lot of sealant was used originally and all is working fine.
Thanks heaps.
Rain
wasnt enough to close Manly Dam, whats your take on riding tomorrow around the area? Anyone that lives around Bantry Bay?
Track pump recommendation
I'm after a decent track pump that is both high volume for mtb but also does high pressure for the road bike. One with a gauge would be good too.
What do you recommend?
sram guide rsc
Looking for some info bought a bike new 3months ago with these brakes on it they work great as good as or better than my old xt set up.
question is as I didn't get any paper work about how to adjust these brakes how dose the pad adjustment work
I have wound the wheel on the lever both ways fully makes no change to how much travel it takes for the lever to engage the pads.
I removed the pads the other day and noticed i had 3 out of 4 sticky pistons in the calliper so exercised them until they are working again but still the pad adjustment wheel makes no difference.
Thanks
Duncan
FOUND Yeti SB66C
https://www.facebook.com/notes/macquarie-fields-...
At 1:55pm on 08/03/2015 Macquarie Fields Police stopped a 22 year old man in Macquarie Fields. At the time he was in possession of the Yeti SB66C mountain bike as shown in the pictures. The man could not offer a reasonable explanation of where the mountain bike was purchased and it was seized.
Possum .. One Way rather than Give Way?
I'm hesitant to make any negative comments about the Possum trail because I know it's one man's hard labour but I rode it on the weekend and noticed all the No Entry signs when riding south.
The North section from the Aquatic Bridge running south is a great trail for practicing smooth cornering. When you get it right you can really flow through the corners with little to no pedaling. There are so few corners on the northern beaches and nothing that comes close to the number of linked corners on this trail (certainly not in my experience).
GPS for Offroad?
I'm thinking of upgrading my basic trip computer to a GPS, predominantly for navigation when on new off road trails. Do they work well for this kind of thing and is it worth the mega $ of something like the Garmin 1000?
Norco Sight 7.1 v Nukeproof Mega TR
I'm currently on a cheap 29" hardtail and after a few journeys over the bars am looking for something that will allow me to hack down hill with more confidence, yet be ok on the flats and back up too.
After looking at and riding a few different 27.5 dual suspension models including Giant Trance, Scott etc, I'm leaning toward either the Norco Sight 7.1Alloy or the Nukeproof Mega TR Race. Both around 3.2K - 3.5K
Albury/Wodonga
I'm off to Vic for a couple of weeks and was wondering if anyone has ridden the trails around Albury/Wodonga recently and if you have what are they like, any good?
CrossMax SLR
THis is a bit of a long shot.
Just wondering if anybody can confirm whether a spoke key from a 2006 wheelset will works for a 2014 wheelset on the Crossmax SLR?
FOUND - Sunglasses at Awaba
I found a pair of sunglasses at Awaba the other week. They were a metre or so off the track in the bushes and looked like they had been there for some time. They are Adidas A166 Terrex. If you think they are yours, message me on here with a description and we'll sort out getting them back to you
Speech from Senator Janet Rice
In support of Alberto Paulon and #AlbisRide today, Senator Janet Rice gave this moving speech in the federal senate last night.
After Senator Rice's successful motion calling on the federal government to invest in cycling infrastructure, she talked about the health and economic benefits of cycling and the lessons from this week’s bicycle summit which was attended by Cycle and Bicycle NSW board member Sara Stace.
Help getting started
Wanting to get a bike to start training for the Gloucester Mountain Man this year.
I am a competitive paddler (k1 and ski), and a runner. I've mountain-biked socially for years but never raced. My current bike is 19yrs old with 23" wheels and no suspension. (it was good in its day )
I am wanting to spend as little as needed to get a bike that will be good enough to train and compete at Gloucester. My running and paddling is up there, so if I can hold my own on a bike I'll do well.
Can I use Avid Rotors with Shimano Brakes?
On my XC I run Avid Elixir 7's with standard 180/160 rotors
On my Enduro I run Avid Elixir 5's, with 200/180 rotors (upgraded because Im fat bastard).
The braking power I get out of the 7s is far greater than the 5's despite the rotor increase.
If the Elixir 7's were still available I'd simply upgrade however with the current bargains to be found online with Shimano XT I was considering switching brands.
The question is, can I use my Avid HS1 Rotors with Shimano Brakes?

Races for kids?
Hey guys
Are their any clubs out there who run races for kids ?
I need to find some races for my 9yo to do. HE done the 20km race at the Husky100 at the weekend and was going really well in the lead group until the sign vandal got him seriously off course and had to wait for mum to catch up....
Derby rim cracked
Fun times. This after just 18km on these 26" AM wheels, and I only weigh 64kg.
The video.

Jump at ~1min.
How did it happen?
Top section of Scorpion on the Kalamunda Circuit. If you can call them jumps, landed one a bit nose heavy, and when the rear came down there was a mighty crack.
