turon gates mountain bike trail

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Hi there,

we have a bush resort with log cabins which has fire trails but no marked bike trails. would this be of interest to mountain bike riders? the website link is:

www.turongates.com

located on the Mudgee Rd between Lithgow and Mudgee.

Pristine bush wilderness.

I am not a mountain biker personally but am wondering what would mountain bikers like to have in terms of marked trails etc and how we would go about creating this at our farm if anyone knows?

I look forward to hearing from you.

LOST: glasses probably on Mona Vale Rd singletrack last Sunday

Help! my glasses bounced out of my bag last Sunday, somewhere between cascades quarry track and the st ives singletrack by mona vale road, before muppets. I reckon it was around the rockier section. If you find them please can you let me know? The glasses have interchangeable lenses, and had the orange ones in them at the time.

Refunds from Cape to Cape

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Anybody had any problems getting refunds from Cape to Cape people? I had to withdraw my application to ride due to injury and was advised I would get a refund up to 60 days from completion of ride, which has well and truly passed.I email them, no reply...I call and get advised it will be in the bank..but no cigar. Riding this year, not likely....

Fox suspension oil selection

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Hi guys, I am after a bit of advice.
I need to replace the seals and dust wipers on my 2008 fox talas 32 forks, I called my LBS which have a seal kit to fit, however it is only compatible with the new fox 20wt gold oil. Fox says this oil should never be used with open bath damped forks (which mine are), however the mechanic says his forks are open bath and he runs this oil.

Can anyone weigh in on their opinion/experience, do i order in the older seal kits and use 10wt oil or put in the new seal kit and 20wt oil and ignore fox.

Cheers for the help

NZ - Queenstown

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi,

I've been a user of information on this site for quite a while, and never really had the opportunity to contribute until now.

I've just returned from a 10 day holiday to Queenstown NZ where I did a fair amount of riding. I went with the family (wife, 6yr old boy, 5yr old girl) all of whom are keen cyclists so we did a lot of riding and exploring.

With all this rain about I figured now's a good time to review my riding position and bike setup (rather than tear around the dam and BB after work).

Looks like much has been published on the net but hoping some of you can point me in the direction of some of the better info out there.

Oaks single track (incl. realignment) - Feedback and Maintenance

Following the opening of the single track realignment in Q2 last year there was a big push to get some feedback presented to the powers that be. I'm wondering if anyone is in the know about whether or not anything has come of this feedback and if we are likely to see any more work in the park in the foreseeable future? It’s been such a great addition, would be a shame if the work is not continued.

Tubeless tyre issue

Have recently put a pair of Conti Race Kings (protection model) on the Niner, on 3 year old set of Stans rims. Beaded up OK, but they struggle to hold air for varying periods. Can be fine for a couple of days and then go down overnight. Rear went from 28 psi to 20 psi on a 2 hr ride last outing. Had no problems previously with a mix of CrossMaxs (LUST) and a tubeless ready Kratos. Sealant was the end of a 18 month old bottle. Rims cleaned prior to fitting and tape seemed in OK nick.

Any suggestions?

Oaks + Singles

Rode the Oaks fire trail for the second time ever today. The few minutes of down hill fun is worth the climb. We did the singles as well, the first single is fairly straight but fun, the newish section is even more fun!!! Few nice obstacles too!

Manly ride

Hi all, wanting to go for a ride this weekend at Manly, have done manly dam twice but just the loop. Would like to check out the extended loop (possums etc?) but no idea where this is (other than across wakehurst parkway), and would like to take in gahnia and serrata as well. What would be the most logical way to do this, anyone done a similar ride and have it mapped on strava? Or if anyone wants to do a ride on Sunday or Monday this weekend then happy to be shown around!

cheers
Ben

Turros Heads NSW (near Batemans Bay)

Guys thinking of camping down there and was wondering if anyone had any experience of good mtb trails in the vicinity. There's plenty of family oriented stuff but struggling to find anything proper.

Hazelbrook - Blue Mtns

Hi can anyone tell me where the entry point to the single track section in Hazelbrook is? Is it fairly easy to find one's way around without getting too lost? Is the trail in good condition?

I've seen the section down to the dam, which I think is another ride.

I've got a group of varied ability teenagers going with me and wanted to pick a trail up there that would be a good all round trail and some fun.

Apparently there is also a bike hire place nearby, anyone know the name of it?

Cheers

Rydal trail work

Hey all. Track needs a bit of loving after all the storms and it's nearly impossible to get every one together so if people have spare time and feel like helping out if you can slip out with a rake an do a little here and there it would be appreciated

Things that need doing.

1. A general rake to clean all the sticks leaf litter and rocks off the trail. Tip here is to rake it off to the downward side of the trail. This prevents it washing back on and also forms a bit of a windrow that helps prevent sediment run off into the bush.

Bike Camping

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Guys and girls

I am starting to set myself up for bike camping either with my girl, or a mate of mine, and also hiking.
Obviously we are going to start with simple over nighters and build up to 3-4 days if we can find the time. We live in East Ryde, so looking at the blue mountains as an easy option to start with

I already own some of the gear required:
Tent, Sleeping mat, sleeping bag, cooker/pots, warm gear, Epirb

I am looking at getting one of these for a Full Suspension 29er:

Rear Rack:

All mountain tyres

Guys about to get new tubeless tyres. They're for a 26-inch wheel if anyone remembers those! Any recommendations? I'm much more interested in grip rather than speed. Cheers.
