Scott 24 hr team

Last year I was put into an ultimate junior team for the scott (we won juniors, and came 7th outright!) there has been word we might be doing it again this year. I acutally don't think it will happen as nothing has been orgainsed as of yet and last year we were organised in june.

Just wondering if there is any teams that might like to take me aboard as a maybe (I will know weather it is on or not this weekend).

I would be willing to go hard and fast:)

thanks..

WWS Carpool this Sunday?

Hey... so who's pooling with who this weekend? It's 1h15m drive for me. Rego closes 7:45 so should aim to rock up 7-ish, which means I'll be leaving 5:45-ish (yes, in the AM! Sad).

Anyone on the LNS want to join (room in the car for 3 or 4 at a squeeze) or take me along when they go?

Oxford Falls downhill companion?

Thought id give Oxford falls downhill a go the other afternoon and, although very rusty and wary over most of the coarse, thoroughly enjoyed it. Only problem being the lack of lift up again ,which basically meant i only managed two runs before tiring!
So just mondering if anybody would be intersted in meeting once a week, preferably on an afternoon (im a tradie so can be there for 4ish) for some runs and we can use my ute with atleast three bike potential for an uplift. As i say i am no sam hill by any means, but enjoyed it all the same.

Matt.

Crank Arm Lengths

After recently suffering from a sore knee on most rides I have been looking at cleat positions, seat fore/aft adjustments etc when I came across a few articles on crank lengths. While there seems to be a few theories on working out the correct length they all end up saying it is trial and error.

My current bike has 175mm cranks and it looks like 165-170mm would be better suited. Has anyone changed cranked lengths and had a noticeable difference.

bike stand for ute

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

As anyone who has ridden with me knows I drive a ute...I would like to know if anyone out there knows of a stand I can get to put in the back of my ute so my bike can stand up - it usually lays down which is fine until some moron pulls out in front of me - last week i had to stop so suddenly i was worried i had bent my front wheel...
Anyway, I know that in tray backs they are wide enough for the bike to go across the back of the window but mine isn't - I require a super easy solution as I am not at all practical (although I do delude myself into thinking I am on occasion)

Trek - why so few?

Thats it really, why do they have such a small presence or do I just ride around with my eyes shut (occasionally). I was in Renegade cycles in Lane Cove looking at the Trek mtb's in there as well as the road bike but lets not go there!

Is it just the lack of distributors or are they not generally popular in Oz?

Terry Hills - hard to find/follow?

Hey All,

I've read the trail-guide to the Terry hills ride/s, and wanted to know, as this would be my first go around there (prob. Sunday morning) will it be hard for me to find/follow the trails?
Manly dam was easy enough to work out, but would appreciate it if someone could let me know whether I can tackle it by myself the first time...

thanks!

Narrow Neck - Can you take bikes down Taro's ladder (Blue Mountains) or a trail nearby??

Hey fellow riders,

A gang of us are trying to map out a ride from Katoomba to Mittagong, with a stop over in Yerranderie.

Does anyone know a way to connect Narrow Neck to the Old Cedar road, down in the Megalong Valley? I understand Taro's ladder is VERTICAL and not very bike friendly...

Love to hear if anyone has ridden from Katoomba to Mittagong ...without taking the 6 foot track.

ANY insight, random comments or thoughts ARE much appreciated,
cheers and happi riding

2007 Cannondale Caffeine F1 - upgraded spec - large - SOLD !

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

At the urging of my physio, I'm finally moving into the world of full suspension ( lower back problems and old age catching up on me...)

Can't swing the N+1 argument so unfortunately, my beautiful Cannondale hardtail has to go to a new home.

It's a 2007 Caffeine F1 which is around a year old. It's been upgraded a fair bit.....

Main upgrades are wheels and drivetrain.

Wheels are currently XM819's (ust) on dirty flea rear and Lefty front ( 7 months old - as found on the 2007 Taurine Carbon 1)
Unlike me, they are light, strong, fast and tubeless(!) they are also straight and true.

Team mate required for BC Bike race

I am looking for a team mate male or female to do the BC Bike race which starts on June 28th 2009
This is a multi stage race over 7 days.
It is quite pricy but it is the best single track multi stage race in the world so worth it.
I am looking for someone reasonably fit, this is not a race for the week end warrior! I did the Cape Epic last year and I trained between 15 -25 hrs a week for 6 months to give you an idea how much commitment is required.
If you are keen let me know.

For Sale - 2007 KHS XC Team dual suspension bike with full XTR - only $2200

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

2007 KHS XC team dual suspension mountain bike - $2850 $2500 $2200 LAST CHANCE. I have had this bike for just under 12 months ago but have decided to go for a custom 29'er instead. It is a great bike with all the bling that you could ask for. It has some cable rub marks and a couple of scratches from normal riding. It is still has all the stock standard parts with the exception of the tyres which I didn't like

sonicmook's picture

Tyre recommendations anyone?

I'm currently using WTB Weirwolfs which are fine in a straight line but always feel a little 'sketchy' in the corners. I'm not sure if it's my riding style or bike set up, but when they slip out they tend to do it quite suddenly. My ideal tyre would be fast, light, durable and bites like hell in the corners. Am I wanting to have my cake AND eat it?

Bubbler/water fountain at manly dam

I went to manly dam for the first time today, pretty impressed, wish there was more northshore and skinny stuff but pickers can't be choosey. Anyway i was wondering if anyone knows of places to fill up water bottles around the trail? i haven't yet got a bladder so i've only got like 600mls.

thanks

Garmin 305 vs other computers

I'm looking at buying a Garmin 305 for training.

Just wondering does anybody have any details or advice regarding this?

I would like to be able to track my progress with a HRM, cadence, speed and be able to map it out on the computer, are there
any other types of computers that would be as good?

Thanks

Another ride Sunday 20 July 08

Hey all. If there is anyone else that wants to ride with another person or two this Sunday 20 July i am planning a smaller, faster alternative to the social Terry Hills ride. Somewhere around northern Sydney - Cascades, Manly Dam, Dural or Ourimbah maybe. I ride an entry level hardtail but at a decent pace and for a couple hours at least. Post back if you're interested or get my mobile phone no. from my profile. Have a good weekend! P.s. There is a very small chance i will have to cancel if i can't get a rim tuned by Sun, which is another reason i was keeping this informal.

Great article on the TDF: Pack mentality - from a free market/capitalist perspective:

Pack Mentality: the energy economics of pelotons.

Cut deals with the enemy, maximize liquidity, punish the welshers, and other free-market lessons of the typical bike race.
