Sat 14th July - cancelled

Hi all,

I've deleted the calendar entry for this ride, I will see you all at the Sunday hit-out instead. PM's have gone out to all those who opted-in to advise.

cheers,

Gilbo.

Putting out the feelers for thoughts on a destination for this Saturday.

Thoughts are; some sweet singletrack -

1. Back to Kincumber to ride the trails from last week and explore some more, or
2. Lidsdale - need I say more?

Any other suggestions?

**Update - based on replies recieved, ive created a ride entry on the calendar for Kincumber

trials bikes

does anyone here know anything much about trials bikes?
i'm having a ball on my fr bike but its not much fun just to ride down the street when your itching for a little riding fix but don't wanna go an an expedition.
i've been looking around a bit and decided that regardless of what people say, those 20" mods with no seat look heaps of fun.

i'd like to get a hold of a second hand one but even the farkin empire doesn't appear to have many for sale...

any thoughts?

Fairfield City Farm?

Hi,

Does anyone know anything or have been to the Fairfield City Farm mountain biking course? Where do we start - how long etc etc. Apparently this was the site of the 2000 Mountain Biking Course and someone was saying to me the other day that it was worth a visit.

restoring old faithful GT - component advice?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi All, New to the NobMob so please be kind!

I've recently gotten back into my bike riding and also just moved house - in doing so i found my old 199X GT Avalanche frame, which i love (it weighs nothing!) but is really only just that - a frame! cranks and gear changers/levers(LX)are all ok, but i def need new rims, forks and some tlc to get her back on the road.

so... Im looking at getting bits from ebay, theres plenty around, but i have a question or 2:

1. rear derailer is a 7speed (i think), will it be difficult getting a wheel with hub that will fit a 7 speed cluster?

Canberra...what about August? - Updated

OK - so it seems that date is no good for 99% of potential takers, what about sometime in august - one suggestion is for the weekend of the 11-12. This is good for me, and the nobmob calendar looks quite empty for august.. what does everyone think?

any suggestions for other dates welcome!

thinking about a ride next sat on the dh course. I've only been there once so im still having heaps of fun on the main dh course but i know its full of other trails that aren't as main stream as the main DH that would be good to explore. I think my old man was planning on going off on an xc ride rather than the DH cuz he's still recovering from a bit of a tumble into a tree...
i live up at gorokan so unless you live at wyong i probably wouldnt be able to give lifts but im not sure about shuttling yet. would depend on how many people come and if the old man is up to riding or not.

fatal accident?

I was just about to send my write up this morning when I spilled a cup of water over my laptop Sad!!! Not sure if it has survived this accident but am hoping for the best!

It switched itself off after I spilled the water over it. I tipped the water out an tried to dry it with a towel and the blow dryer. Smiling (No comments necessary, thanks! Eye-wink)

Can anybody tell me how I could increase the survival chances of my computer?? Should I just plug it in tonight and see what happens or wait longer for it to dry propperly??

Cheers
Caro

Planned land development at Morgan Road ?!?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi folks,

I might have been living under a rock to have missed this info, but was anyone else aware of the pending land development planned for much of the land surrounding Morgan Road?
The development of 432 housing lots is known as "Lizard Rock", and is being performed by Laing O'Rourke on behalf of the land owners (Aboriginal Land Council).

Coffs - downhill fun at Mt Coramba on Saturday and Monday

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Flying Steve

Thanks Rob for the write up of the Sunday race. You seem to have most points covered, at least from what you saw. Nice work hacking on Bruce too. But you did well Bruce - a top time given our poor preparation.

After an enjoyable road trip from Sydney to Coffs, many of the group decide that the Mt Coramba downhill trail is a capital idea, given we are racing the next day. New trails!! Preparation? What preparation. To illustrate, Steve and Gazza had turned up earlier in the day and had been hike-a-biking up steep hills (err, mountains?) because they couldn't find the proper tracks. More good work! Oh Gaz, you would come to regret this!

To describe the location of this place, the road turn off for Mt Coramba is about 1km north of the big banana. You drive along a tight and twisty road high up towards the top of a mountain, that ends with a picture perfect and stunning view of the surrounding area. This includes a 180 degree view of the pacific ocean. If we weren't so keen to get riding, you could look at the view for hours. The landscape is steep, with a mix of Eucalypts and rainforest. Very different to what we are used to on the northern beaches.

Bike rack for Jeep

Hi All,

Can anyone recommend a rear bike rack for a Jeep Cherokee. With the spare wheel on the rear door I cannot use a
Swagman 3 bike standard fold down towball which would be ideal.

Any ideas?

Many thanks
