Manly Dam Re-Opened

Some great news for the weekend...

Thanks again to everyone who kept off the track during and after this wet period.

The track is still wet in places, and the trail surface has changed in some spots because of the heavy rain. Please ride according to these conditions and walk your bike through muddy patches on the trail.

Manly Dam has volunteer trail maintenance days every 6-8 weeks. The next trail day is on Sunday 29 July. Please register with Terracare if you wish to be involved. www.terracare.com.au Finally please inform others of the manly dam mailing list [email protected]

Thanks,

Nicole

Help replacing hydro hose please

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

OK I finally have my replacement hose for the Juicy 7 that I nearly cut through at Canberra. Have a bleed kit and both manuals but do you think I can find instructions on how to change the hose anywhere? Nuh only how to shorten a hose that is already full of fluid. Mostly common sense but I have a couple of questions for anyone that may have had to replace their hose before.

FS: Shimano CN-7401 8-speed Chain

I'm trying to make more space at home and this chain is the first to go.

It is still in its box and plastic wrap. It is from the XTR/Dura Ace gruppo and I believe it is from the mid 90s.

Willing to trade for some green labelled South Australian beer ...

Over 18s Section?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

An anonymous (well - I, and a few of you will know who I'm talking about) has posted a picture of a very nasty looking injury he received the other day.

This is sat waiting to be moderated, and to be frank, I think it's too horrific to go public.

What are the people's thoughts on this sort of thing? Do we need an over 18's (or 'tasteless') section? Or should these sick puppies ( meant in the nicest possible way Eye-wink ) stick to posting their pics on other places?

Single-Speed Mountain Bikes

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi all,

Has anyone had experience with Single speed mountain Bikes.
I am think of adding one to my 2 mountian bikes i have already.
I mainly want to use it as a backup bike in case my commuter fails and also a backup and the occasional lap or 2 at 8/12/24 hr events.
I am particularly interested in this bike http://www.jamisbikes.com/usa/bikes/07_bikes/exi...
prices are about $1500-$1700 au and seems pretty good value, front suspension with lockout, hydro brakes, parts seem to be mid range and this is cool as this will not be my main bike. Weighs about 12kgs

Tubeless

Can anybody give me a crash course in running tubeless tyres.
I've just bought a bike on Ebay and it has Mavic X819 wheels with Hutchinson Python NG tubeless.

What pressure do I run them at?
Do I need to use Stan's no tubes or the like?
What happens if they deflate - can I just pump them up again?
Is there any special maintenance required?

I'm about 85 kilo's, ride trails and wouldn't jump off anything over 1 metre.

Red Hill idiots

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Well it looks like we may have some future problems at Red Hill due to farkin idiots burning cars dumping rubbish and general un- wanted behaviour. The top car park trailhead has been closed and there are some notices around on the trails regarding endangered species , which could end up being "us".
There has been heaps of kids fanging around on those crappy ebay moto thumpers and also a lot of guys on unregisterd trail bikes using the grass area and tracks as speedway tracks, and a lot of the trails are being chewed up .

Coffs Road Trip

Hi all,

To get the Coffs weekend off to a great start, I thought we should organise a Coffs Road Trip. Myself and Lee will be leaving Hornsby sometime around 6:30 a.m.

Does anyone else want to make a NobMob convoy? We can stop off for a healthy breakfast (ehem, fried big breakfast) on the way. So who's in?

Bring on Coffs!!
Laughing out loud

Coffs Marathon bad weather plan? Any track condition details?

Anybody got any idea what the organisers have in mind given the likely bad weather through this week? What is the cancellation date?? Or what will make them cancel?

Any of our more northern brethren got any information on the condition of the track up there at the moment?

Garmin Edge help

Any words of wisdom on how to de-gunge an Edge?

2 hours riding in mud and rain today seem to have taken its toll and now I can't get the start/stop button to depress. Lovely record of the ride including the drive home and every step I have taken with it since. Clearly hindsight is a wonderful thing - water proof does not equal grit proof, which is what I am assuming has got under the buttons :-/

as if a training ride in the rain wasn't enough punishment.

Hi All,

Just joined the forum and wanted to introduce myself. On holidays at the moment so aside from studying I should have plenty of time to go exploring as I´ve only recently been living in NSW.
I like DH and FR on my new Reign X1 (which incidently has just developed a weird gurgling sound from rear brake but still works fine...)

Loving the Reign, seems to cover up any mistakes i make...

Kona Stinky 2004

Hi, i want to get into riding dirt trails and stuff that involves chucking my bike around a bit without fear of busting it. I have the option to buy a 2004 Kona Stinky stock spec, in excellent condition for $900, it is a medium frame, and I am 6'1 and 90kg. Would anyone please be able to inform me as to whether this is a good idea or not, i'm not really sure, all i know is i wanna decent bike that will hold up to my beginner/intermediate standards. Thanks!!
