Group Training
Dropoff Training + Cascades
Hews Reserve, Belrose
OK so Sunday seems to be the preferred day.
We will spend a bit of time at the park having a muck around off the rock. We can then pedal up to Cascades and do the Technical DH single track and then ride back up Heath Track. I will be walking back up as I will take the big bike!
I'll probably take my camera and try and get some pics of drops, crashes etc
After the ride we can get a bite to eat at the bistro up the road.
Although it is grass I'd recommend you bring some pads if you are not confident on this kind of thing.
Perimeter track
Park opposite/beside Terrey Hills shops, corner Booralie Rd/Yulong Ave. Or in the small carpark next to the RFS station & community centre.
fun training ride - i have some (2) "less" fit guys that we have to wait for at the top of hills but may make it that the faster guys go back and ride back up again.
Back at shops after a 17km lap we'll decide whether to add on another lap of Perimeter or add Duck hole & centre tracks. Would like a steady pace -no waiting - should get around in just over an hour.
Night Ride
Terrey Hills Tavern.
Night Training Ride, minimal stops. not fast, but training pace.
Meet at the TH Tavern Car Park!
Pre-social Duckholes/Centre lap
Terrey Hills Tavern, eastern carpark, Aumuna Rd, Terrey Hills, NSW 2084
For those early work finishers (ie bludgers like me) a lap of Duckholes/Centre tracks, returning to the Tavern and meeting up with the social ride for a second (recovery) lap, then dinner. Yummy!
Aim is to do this first lap in 45 mins or less (barring crashes/mechanicals)-steady but not race pace.
Full Fling Training Ride - at a long steady pace
Park opposite/beside Terrey Hills shops, corner Booralie Rd/Yulong Ave. Or in the small carpark next to the RFS station & community centre.
This is a training ride for the FULL FLING - it will be a long steady ride to test bikes, equipment and nutrition.
It is starting at 6.00am to avoid the heat of the day.
Distance 80K's (Perimeter, Long, Duck Holes, Waratah (stop for a short break), Centre, Centre in reverse, Duck Holes in reverse (stop a TH Shops to refill water), Perimeter, Long.
The pace will be steady but not roidy say 15+ kph average and there will only be 2 scheduled stops 1) at the end of Waratah (35k mark) and another back a TH shops (60k mark). We will regroup by slowing down or doubling back.
Manly Dam Night ride
King Street (near corner with Arana Street), Manly Vale. You know - outside Manly Hydraulics Lab.
I'm trying to get in a bit of night riding before the CORC24, and with the weather over the weekend it hasn't worked.
If the rain keeps up, I don't want to go out and chop up the tracks, and wet+dark is not a good combo...
However, the strong wind on Monday afternoon and night should help to dry it out a bit.
This is a training ride for experienced riders, but i'm hoping there may at least one other who is interested.
If the weather is questionable during the day and you are keen, PM me in the afternoon, and I may head over to garrigal or terry hills instead.

Oaks up and down and St Helena's
Glenbrook station carpark.
Hey,
I need to get some training in for the Half Fling and I gotta figure out how fit I am to see how quick i can go. The aim is to do the oak's up to the top, stopping at the Helipad and then at the gate for water and Guis etc. Come back down and detour via St Helena's I'm hoping I will be fit enough to do the lot at a a good pace.
As always if there are some roidy people there we will split as appropriate.
Andrew
PS Sorry Rob for putting this on the same day as your ride - I can't find another day that works for me.
Manly Dam - 3 Laps
King Street (near corner with Arana Street), Manly Vale. You know - outside Manly Hydraulics Lab.
Going to try and make this a weekly MTB hit out, to supplement the road training.
3 laps (non-stop) with maybe a 4th slower lap...
Single track training
Hazelbrook train station carpark on Railway parade, near Higgs place.
This is planned to be fairly constant single track riding to practice your skills, improve your fitness and have a bunch of fun before the 24 hour and the Fling, both of these races have heaps of great single track so you owe it to yourself to get out there. The pace is planned to be medium to quick and as always we'll will wait at the next corner or top of hill to regroup. If you are unfit this ride is unsuitable. We will be doing mostly single track but throwing a bit of technical climbing and descent.
Massive Northern Beaches Ride 2008
Jamieson Park, off The Esplanade, on the southern shore of Narrabeen Lake
It's been more than a year, and I get asked a lot about setting up another "Massive Northern Beaches Ride". So here it is, back again, bigger and brighter for 2008. An EPIC if there ever was one. And it even comes in 1 week ahead of the Fling, so represents a great opportunity to put in about 60km on your local trails beforehand.
