Shimano shoes

Hi I'm looking at a new pair of shoes.

Has anyone had any experience with the Shimano SH-M300S carbon sole shoes...?

What is your current hot recommendation for your lower digit motion pods?

Service Mavic Freehub CrossMax ST on 2008 XO.

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Had been done once before by a shop. Read/heard a few times over the past year how they need frequent cleaning.

I was getting occasional buzzing/humming (particularly chocolate foot forward) sound if coasting for extended durations.

Bought a chain-whip and Shimano cassette removing tool. Had fine grit and needed a clean. Used 10mm hex, 5mm hex, Iso Alcohol, tweezers, baby oil, rag, cotton buds, old toothbrush, eye protection.

A 'cold' hot lap

Date:
16 Jan 11

It was a very wet start to the day and I felt like I was still half asleep.
Slow on the way out, had to stop a couple of times to clean my glasses.
Thought it would be minutes faster on the return, but even though I felt I was going faster it was only a minute quicker. Not really a 'hot' lap, but thought I'd post it up just so I've got something to beat when I have a proper go another time.
When I got back to the gate, had something to eat then went over and did the duckholes/centre challenge. I was good and warmed up and that went much better!

2nd hot lap for the day

Date:
16 Jan 11

It was wet, and I'd done a hard push out and back on the perimeter/long to start the day.
Duck holes was in good shape, but quite a bit of traffic, so had to be careful down the bottom over the water bars and blind corners.
The bitumen hill up from the toll booth at Mc Carrs creek had me sitting in the red (92-95% of max HR)- that's a long hill on nobbies!
Centre wasn't as hard as I expected, once up the initial gnarly bit. Undulates while climbing gradually.

Harbour Bridge Closure

A friend told me that tomorrow you will have to dismount and walk your bike across the bridge due to an Amway convention. Apparently they have access to the western side of bridge. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks in advance.

Perimeter and Long Trail

I have been riding P & L regularly since early Dec 2010 in preperations and training for some enduraces in 2011. It's a great track for pumping out some speed. Current time from Nerang Ave out to the end of Long Trail and back is 69 min. I hope to improve on this.

Watch out for Brown Snakes!!!

Recon Pop loc dilemma ???

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Have taken up a bit of bike mechanics with varying success. Recently ordered a pop loc conversion kit to fit to my 120mm Recon shocks on a 2009 Scott Spark. Pulled the compression damper out and the one in the kit is shorter than the one originally installed in the shocks. I have been advised this is the correct kit but it is definetly a different length. Is there a spacer or modification I would need to do to the remote lock out damper?
