More use of avatars

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

In case anyone has missed it, you might notice I've turned on the user pictures in comments and posts. Just a bit of fun but adds some colour to the pages and easier to relate who's posted by a glance at the avatar on the right then trying to look for the name (you know - "Good with faces, no good with names" concept).

Anyhow, so everyone will get the 'Guest Rider' icon unless they upload a nice image. Up to 480x480px images are good as the site will resize for you. This size is good, because a larger version is shown on your profile compared to that shown by your posts.

Ourimbah State Forest update for 28 Oct

Status:
Green/Open

given the amount of rain we've had lately the xc track is in excellent condition, very few puddles & the puddles that are there are easily avoided, get out there & ride it.

Do you have more information?

If you've ridden here lately please add a more recent report. This will be useful even if the condition is the same as updates expire after 30 days.

Firday Arvo Cascades and something else

When:
Friday, 30 October, 2009 - 16:00

The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.

Ride Database Entry:
Cascades
Meeting Point:

End of Wyatt Ave, Belrose - this is on the East side of Garigal National Park.

Show on Google maps: Meeting point. Login or register to get directions.

This is shot 2 from last week as discussed with Rob in that opportunity.
My idea is to go down the cascades down hill single track (if i find it), climb out and see what else we can do.

I don't want to go down that trail alone, it is a bit technical and i don't want to lie unconsious until my wife starts worrying if something unplanned happens Sad, so if nobody confirms and someone has a suggestion to go somewhere else (like Lane Cove) post it and I can change the plans. If nobody comes i may go to Menai that i know where i get into Smiling

First Flat

Well, it had to happen sooner or later... on this morning's jaunt over to Manly and back[1] the crosser got it's first flat... ever. A very, very slow one at that, but eventually I felt the rear was a bit wobbly and looked down to see the deflation.

Had to stop on Manly beach front and change the tube. Yeah, tough place for it to happen Eye-wink Stopped off at Manly Cycles to top of the inflation with their floor pump. The dude there commented on my jersey (JetBlack Sydney 24 - see, it always helps to wear MTB event jerseys when <cough>scumming</cough>).

Consulting Garmin Connect, says I've ridden 6700km on the Bianchi. Hmmm... no wonder the tires look a bit worn (yup - same set of Conti Contact touring tires on there the whole time). Guess this is not a bad record in the flat department Eye-wink

Mont 24 Hour 2010

From the Mont website.

Whoa Nelly!
Sunday, October 25, 2009
The entry system opened at 5:30pm yesterday and got a hammering over the following 6 hours – so much so it looked like the event would sell out before the end of the week. Rather than catch those of you who wait a while before jumping online by complete surprise, we have pressed the pause button and will re-open entries in one weeks time.

This period will allow you to get all your team details together, and allow us to make some minor changes to our server/hosting arrangements... our hamsters are exhausted.

Manly Dam update for 28 Oct

Area:
Manly Dam
Status:
Red/Closed

I went on a road ride last night, but went via the top of the Dam at Wakehurst Parkway to check it out. I'd stay well clear as there was a LOT of standing water and a LOT of run-off.

Do you have more information?

Avid Elixir 5

Hi, does anyone know how these breaks are compared to the Elixir R and CR models. If its just wait then they seem like good value. I have seen some on ebay for around $180 for a set of front and rears.
